When you turn on the button at 11:04 you start the ventilation system, cleaning the room of the lethal gas. If you don't do this, then you need the mask in the area of the sequencer charges/dark trooper combat.
When you get onto the upper moving conveyor up the stairs, it's easy to take out all the turrets with claymores. Just lay a series of them along the conveyor, while backing up. The turrets sense the mines and start moving, and the mines explode, along with the turrets.
The phase 1 dark troopers really scared me when i played this as a kid. Especially this level where you can hear them go clickedy click in that metal maze then pounce on you. Seeing them in mandalorian was a treat it but they didn't have the vibro blade and shield
The first time I played this level as a kid I got the ice cleats and then IMMEDIATELY sailed off the edge like a big clumsy clod. Kyle was not pleased...
I gotcha. That could be. I was thinking it could be Kyle if the Empire we’re trying to track him down or something but a Dark Trooper would be more plausible
For the people here from the RetroAchievements community, the PS1 version moved the seventh secret from entering the facility to the secret door at 14:16. Probably a bug on the PC version.
Top stuff. I wonder if the designers were trying to hint that you should open the doors for the mark 1 Dark Troopers in the corridor then back off laying mines everywhere? Let the Dark Troopers blow themselves up? They certainly provided enough mines to do that... I'm enjoying how different Dark Forces is to your Doom 3 playthough. In Doom 3 you barely took a hit, in Dark Forces it seems designed so that you can't avoid taking blaster fire from enemies, hence all the shield power-ups.
Haha, I survived that level with 03 Shield Points, 04 Health Points and no remaining Extra Lifes. Those two Dark Trooper hit hard, especially in the End, where I had no idea where to go and that Dark Trooper hunted me. Edit: Just saw the end, I was lucky that I found randomly the right way so that I hadn't to fight the other two Dark Trooper.
I think the area where you're supposed to use the gas mask is bugged. I remember I only had to use it once or twice, it only works when it feels like it.
8:15 Is that jump no longer possible while using the Force Engine? I swear I break my fingers every time I try to jump into that opening... Made it many times in original Dark Forces, but that was a long time ago and I was much younger. ^^
An ice canyon level with ice physics? Oh noooo. Well it sounds worse than it actually is. The base however is pretty fun looking. The part starting at 14:09 reminds me of the "Arch-Vile hedge maze" from Final Doom for some reason.
Kinda like a high-tech Archi-Vile maze yeah! And I was surprised the ice physics only applied to certain sections of the outside area as opposed to the whole area. Pretty cool of LucasArts to do it like that
As far as I know, yes. Normally if you die, you'll resume right where you left off in the level, but if you run outta lives, you have to restart the level you're on
When I did this level, even after I completed the sequencers, when I returned back to the landing area, for some reason the ship didn't come out. Was I suppose to go to the beginning secret before doing anything?
Lol, I've never found a blue key. I just used the blue key cliff at 6:00 to jump onto the conveyor belt. For area at 12:00 I've seen a Civvie 11 review of this game and he HAD to use a gas mask. And that's the ONLY time I've seen a gas mask in that particular point. Fuck Nar Shadaa. This is the only point in the game where I'll cheat my ass off because fuck those Grans. It should be nuked.
I thought this level was the only time you’d see a gas mask in this game too, and then I found out about that secret in Level 6. As for Nar Shaddaa, yeah... I’m not looking forward to that one or Jabba’s Ship for that matter. They’re good levels but they’re so damn tough
hello, i have a game idea for next series. you should make a series on these games . Minecraft, Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Wolfenstein The New Colossues, Doom Eternal/doom 2016 and GTA San Andreas.
It'd be kinda cool if the Ice Cleets upgraded his melee attacks, like a Duke Nukem kick.
Mighty Cleat Engaged!
Hey, it’s BigMacDavis! Cool seeing you here
It's a "secret" base obviously! Duh. That's why you get a secret for entering the base.
Ah yes, this makes sense haha
Or it’s a sneaky way of the developers to tell people who had not already figured out that the game has secrets.
When you turn on the button at 11:04 you start the ventilation system, cleaning the room of the lethal gas. If you don't do this, then you need the mask in the area of the sequencer charges/dark trooper combat.
Ohhh! Okay. That makes way more sense now!
By the way, love your gameplays! I'm always waiting for the next one!
@@andrenavajasmadio9307 Thank you, André. I also had no idea...
I didn't remeber that until I saw Lightining's gameplay... good memories!
@eldin3191 I'm on the remaster too. Loving it!
Secret 1: 1:00
Secret 2: 4:24
Secret 3: 4:40
Secret 4: 4:54
Secret 5: 7:25
Secret 6: 8:29

This level and level 2 are my favorites in this game, it just has a unique design to it....
I'm so thankful for DosBox devs to allow us to run great classic old games in modern systems
DOSBox is one of the greatest gifts for any gamer who loves the oldies. And we don’t even have to pay for it!
I opened up DosBox once. I think it was just a command line that I stared at for 5 minutes. I then closed DosBox.
I love your play throughs, keep them coming!
Thank you! Will do as always

I bet Kyle said something like, "Uuurrrrrrgggghhhaaaaahhhhh!"
I was expecting Snowtroopers on this level. It's really unusual to see regular Stormtroopers on an ice planet like Anteevy.
I know. Even just for one level it’d be cool to see Snowtroopers. Oh well
It took five games before Snowtroopers were in the Jedi Knight series.
I second that.
Incredible oldschool game
i think the green outline thing your referring to is supposed to be an image of sorts, of one of the dark troopers perhaps phase 2
I gotcha. That could be. I was thinking it could be Kyle if the Empire we’re trying to track him down or something but a Dark Trooper would be more plausible
I love how cool the Star Wars expanded universe used to be.
They come up with some pretty cool stuff for the EU. It’s nice to see a lot of it in the newer Star Wars installments
@@LightningBoltForever They should have made a show or some movies from these games. That would have been awesome!
Most of it was shitty tho. These stories only work in video game form.
@@jukaa1012 They wrote two or three Jedi knight books. If we’re being honest, the Jedi knight series is actually pretty movie worthy.
This is the last level I beat prior to this series. I really need to get back to playing this game. I enjoyed this level in particular.
This is the last of the easier levels. Like this one is certainly challenging, but Nar Shaddaa onward is just pain and hurt haha
Wow! You made some daring moves! And nice sing-songy speech, as usual.
Thanks haha
6:18 love the grenade work!

these videos are super helpful since the remaster came out XD

Awesome! Thanks man. Glad you’re having fun!
13:55 sooo you watched the Mandalorian. 🤟
Of course!

lol I one time got cocky and I fell to by death by the ice, but this level is alright and we get to see the dark troopers phase 1and 2
The Phase 2 Dark Troopers are really cool-lookin’
I think the area where you're supposed to use the gas mask is bugged. I remember I only had to use it once or twice, it only works when it feels like it.
I was thinking that and then I read that hitting the switch in the red key room will vent the gas down there. Eh who knows haha
8:15 Is that jump no longer possible while using the Force Engine? I swear I break my fingers every time I try to jump into that opening...
Made it many times in original Dark Forces, but that was a long time ago and I was much younger. ^^
The DTs in the Mandalorian had really disappointing guns.
Did they even get to use their guns in the Mandalorian? I don’t even remember lol
@@LightningBoltForever Yeah it just worked like a normal blaster. It was basically just an E-11 in a bigger housing that looked like an MP38.
Nar Shadda is almost as iconic as tatooine
And the craziest thing is that we never saw Nar Shaddaa in any films. But we gamers, we know how great it is
1:05 extra life
The Phase 2 has a very cool sprite, close call though in CQC ^^;
It does look cool. You can definitely see where they got the inspiration for the Dark Troopers in the old Battlefront games
@@LightningBoltForever Yup! Only to make them shorter ^^;

Really creative level for the time, especially the slippery ice thing... Btw what happens of you run out of lives? Do you lose all progress?

Always play with map code
It's cheating but it helped me appreciate one of the only games I had in 1995/96
I wish I could do that for the next two levels, but nah, gotta play ‘em legit!
In this level, is there a specific order of which you have to activate the sequencer charges?
😀😀😀
Yo man!
It would be awsome with a dark forces remake.:D
