To me, the second greatest "what if" Star Wars question is "What if Jango Fett survived the battle of Geonisis?" What would his reaction be to seeing his clones fight in war? Would he turn on Dooku? Would he switch sides and fight with his kids? Would have joined the republic and told them everything?
But holy smokes, I had no idea Mace Windu thought he was responsible for the Clone Wars.
I think there was a comic where Jango explained he has no love for the clones, and even killed one of them himself. Of course, Boba is the only exception.

As someone who has been in combat you do what you must to survive and for the people around you to survive without thinking about it and then spend the rest of your life second guessing what you did or just move past it and put it behind you and make the most of the rest of your life.
Id say get third partied by an enslaved beast ,which destroyed his jet pack ,one of his best tools to fight a jedi with, isn’t a good way for him to go

I interpreted it more as him not trusting Anakin due to him being too old and independent by the time he was brought into the order, and becoming more frustrated with his antics over time.
Mace doesn't hate Anakin...This is tiresome as the other person stated, Anakin was far too old and worldly to have been trained as a Jedi. This normally would and had led to complications before so for Windu it was more of a trust issue especially with how Anakin behaved. A belief that bore itself out might I add.

People always say that Windu would have been the best teacher for Anakin. But I think this example shows clearly why that is not the case; in addition to Anakin's pre-existing attachment issues, Windu likely would have passed on his disproportionate sense of responsibility and cold personality to Anakin as well. Though he may have been more disciplined and better balanced in his aggression, Anakin would crumble from the pressure placed on him and fall to the darkside eventually.
I would actually put forward that Yoda should have been the teacher for Anakin. The jedi council was always troubled by Anakin's preferred focus to lightsaber combat over studying the mysteries of the force. I think Yoda could have taught Anakin patience and instilled a greater curiosity about the force in the young boy. Yoda is compassionate, and has shown himself willing to allow his students to make their own choices and coaching them through failure. Yoda has also notably embraced Anakin's unorthodox inclinations in the Clone Wars series, whereas Obi-wan and the council often discouraged it.
Why not both of them and Obi-Wan? He was the chosen one after all.
Don't forget how mace was incredibly arrogant was to boba saying he had to forgive him. When Boba didn't have to do anything
It wasn't murder, it was a fight where only one will walk away. Murder is very different from killing in self-defense.
I had always wondered what Windu was thinking in those moments after he killed Fett. In the movie he clearly wasn't happy that it happened and I'm glad they expounded on that.

I honestly think that the moment Windu un-alived Jango Fett was the most I've sympathised with Mace. Have you ever gotten caught in a heated argument before? Like, a REALLY heated argument? Each remark is upped as they go back and forth and then one of you finally says one thing that goes too far and you end up having to apologise later? That feeling where you kind of just give in and let your instincts take control more than your mind? That's how I think Windu felt (without the context of this video). That moment when he looked at what he had just done said it all for me. Someone who didn't really realise what he did which was do something that is not the Jedi way AND sensing such a great disturbance in the course of the future. Or, in my case, said something that shouldn't have been said and you only realise what was said when everyone goes quiet in shock.

It’s important to note that in Windu’s fight with Jango it is likely that the force intervened, through the (forgot the name) bull alien. It charged Jango and damaged his jet pack, Jango knows Maces final strikes are too close and would end him so he activates his jet pack at the last second, cooly using all his available time to fire his shots at Windu without letting fear have him prematurely evacuate. Unfortunately he only notices the malfunction when it is too late and he dies. Similar to how Boba Fett’s jet pack was by chance damaged in RoTJ.
In this sense the story has its cake and eats it too, Jango WAS a complete bad ass that killed all these Jedi and normally would be able to survive an encounter even against master windu, but in the chaos of that arena, perhaps guided by the will of the force, in order for boba fett to become boba fett, and for him to survive the sarlacc and affect the galaxy as he needs to later (perhaps training grogu to defeat a threat to the galaxy the force deems existential) Jango needed to die. For the convenience and continuity of the story but also for the potential for the force to tie in to greater threads down the line (if the writers are able)(I don’t trust Favearu lol)

Jango respectfully wasn't on Windu's level. Whether his jet pack was functional or not,he wasn't surviving against someone like Mace period
Jangos equipment failed. Unfortunately he relied too much upon it and siding with the CIS instead of rebuilding the Journeyman Protectors in Jasters honor was something that set the galaxy back. Critical plot point

Galidraan and the ensuing events with Death Watch triggered the massive civil war on Mandalore, and when Jango freed himself, the planet was going crazy.
Jango Fett was also never a Journeyman Protector, both his father and Boba were, and his fathers membership is what got his family targeted by Death Watch with Jango left for dead to be rescued and raised by Jaster...and Boba's came to an end when one of his superiors, essentially, raped his wife and Boba killed him, leading to exile from Concorde Dawn.
Great video. DEF made my stance on Windu’s decision adjust. I’m definitely more empathetic towards him now. It was also cool to learn more about Force Shatterpoint and how it makes him a sharper and more aggressive fighter and decision-maker. But dang, Vaapad is a crazy form to put you in that much of a trance when engaged in battle.

Why did Jango single out Mace Windu in the arena?
There were dozens of other Jedi he could have picked off, while allowing the droids to overwhelm them.
Most badass scene in Star Wars. Boy, the prequels had the best action.
We were more spoiled than we realized at the time.

Had Count Dooku been able to turn Mace Windu to his cause, the Clone Wars would have turned out very differently. Very few in the galaxy would be able to fully contend with the Master of the Order.
Need Samuel Jackson to return as Windu on a live action short story if he survived but lost his memory or that within a SW what if series or something, would be pretty cool

Indeed, had he followed his instincts and the will of the flow and cut down Dooku, when he had the chance, the course of galactic history, would have been altered and a serious kink put into the plans of the sith and Sidious. Forcing Sidious to have get far more hands on with the separatist and risk exposure early on during the war, while he found a suitable successor for dooku, to move forward with his plans.
I was re watching the clone wars and I realized that obi wan was disguised as Rako Hardeen and Anakin was going to kill who he thought to be Hardeen and I wanted to know what obi wan told the Jedi council and how they reacted after hearing this since it was never revealed in the series

Or it was Palpatine's use of the Dark Side that took advantage of Mace's connection to the Force making him instinctively want to Unalive Jango by having him exude such Darkness around the Jedi.
Ordinarily I'd say Mace had delusions of grandeur. But here, who knows?

There was no way for Windu to know it till far too late but the war would’ve happened no matter what. Sideous had been plotting and scheming for decades and wouldn’t have allowed a little thing like his apprentice and figurehead of the CIS getting killed to stop him.

I know this is off topic, but the mention of Vaapad made me think of it. I've only been fencing for a few years now, but one of the first realizations i had early on (because i only became aware of it not to long prior to it) was how the breaking up of lightsaber forms and having people stick with one form or another was one of the dumbest recurring concepts in Star Wars. Anyone of those people that are masters of one would more often than not be beaten by someone who's merely middling in more than one. A form that focuses on defense is useless outside sparring. Defense doesn't win fights, offense does. Defense just allows you to put yourself in an optimal offensive position. It's like putting a master in aikido against any of the more offensive focused martial arts; that Aikido master is going to lose unless they're willing and/or able to go beyond their Aikido. But if that master has some training in other fighting styles, then the Aikido can help tremendously since it is able to deflect or block a blow, then immediately put the attacker in an extremely vulnerable position, usually on their backs stunned and with the wind knocked out of them.
I don't know where it first came up, but it never should have.

So just to be sure I understand, Mace had a moment to kill Dooku but because he used shatter point, it led him to see the danger in Jango and then kill him instead?
While the clone wars are not his fault, what is his fault is the evil that comes after it. Things like his refusal towards anikan, the slaughter of jango in front of his own son, who would become boba fett, and become even more deadly and evil, the capabilities he had to stop dooku. It really does all add up.
The thing that always got me with the Clone Wars is that not a single Jedi actually questioned how or why their clone army ALL had the face of Dooku's bodyguard/personal hitman.
I mean what TF sort of Sith Lord would make a spare army comparable to the one they're using and leave it sitting on the side with the windows down and motor running, right in front of the Jedi's house?
I know Sidious was nerfing there vision, but really?
The major problem was, even if he managed to kill Dooku, the fact was Palpatine was still hidden in the Republic government, and had been so for YEARS. So the possibility of contingency plans if his main chess piece fell early is fairly high.
But that would also put the Sith at risk and set the plan back. To enact these contingencies without his apprentice, Sidious would have to get directly involved until he finds a suitable replacement. That would greatly increase risk of detection at a time when not all the pieces were in place to use order 66 and seize control of the galaxy.

Windu was second in lightsaber combat to only dooku. He defeated sidious FFS. Jango is good but not that good.
@tadsnyder2756 I think he was slightly better than Dooku by this point. If the weakness of makashi is cannon,then certainly Windu being much younger and stronger as well as being powerful in the force, would eventually wear down Dooku as Anakin did
He meant to take off to gain distance and fight on his terms. Unfortunately got him, he didn't realize it was damaged. If you watch the clip, it was sparking when the beast trampled him and then it sparked again right before he got beheaded.
I don’t think it was a mistake him trying to kill the chancellor. It was absolutely the right decision as shown later. Vader did the same as exact thing put in the same exact position. When the thing you love is on the line you gotta do what you Gotta do to protect it. he was literally put into the same situation and decided to save his son. Killed the Chor no different than what mace was going to do. He just needed time to see it. He probably was around maces age at that time when he made the decision mace was already going to make. If he doesn’t stop, mace .The Sith never win.

I must say it......he was stupid to kill jango even if it was accident, that just shows that u must stay on your guard and only not for the abillity to sense the Future in combat like yoda and the classic republic era: THE FUTURE IS ALWAYS IN MOTION (context he sensed that jango wanted to fly away but couldn't because his jetpack was malfuntioning)

My opinion of Mace hasn't changed, he was always a good man in a bad situation and both the battle of Geonosis, and then the duel in the Chancellor's chamber exemplify this, that said I thoroughly believe that had Mace tried to strike down Dooku at that time he'd of ended up in the casualty report having failed to kill either Jango or Dooku the important thing to note is that Dooku was on par with Yoda, and while Mace was no slouch with a lightsaber he was no match for Yoda at that time, and that moment of hesitation he would undoubtedly have would be ample time to experience Dooku's force lightning.
Second here,also imagine if we got a epic duel in this movie with windu and dooku fighting over all of genenosis
Do you think that perhaps the clones played a part in Jango Fett's presence in the force? I know he is a dangerous man but I dont believe he would have that much of an impact. Unless, of course, there were millions of Jango Fetts, each with a future of killing Jedi during Order 66. I believe that is what Mace Windu was seeing in the shatter point. Jango...wasn't an evil man.
He was just a man doing what he had to do to survive in the galaxy because he certainly couldn't depend on men like Mace Windu to make the galaxy safer for any young boy to grow up in. (cause it seems Jester Mereel is indeed still canon)
And Mace had to face the justified anger of Boba Fett, the one he had hurt the most. It may not justify Boba's attempt to assassinate him, but Mace's words are "You're gonna have to" when it came to forgiveness is just as much for him as it is for Boba. He *has* to forgive Boba otherwise he's not a Jedi at all.

@@girl1213 Galidraan is also referenced in things, so Jango, in many ways, ups the issue with the Jedi.
Only one Jedi acknowledged Galidraan for what it was an the results, which was Dooku and a major start of his issues with the Jedi that had him, eventually, leave.
And that issue with the Jedi also adds to a reason why Boba Fett hates the Jedi.
Hopefully Boba learns from Jango to wear some flexible Beskar neck armor … that’s what I’d do as a Mando

You are an amazing story teller, you have a way of bringing these stories from the films and novelizations to life.
Really shows how connection between both light and Dark side. It also puts him in a more positive-ish light than the more usual negative side of Dooku.
Kit, Plo Koon, Luke, and Yoda have always been my favorite Jedi, but I've always had mad respect for Mace.
Yes Windu was in a battle trance. Yes Windu was using Vapaad. Yes Windu killed Jango. But it wasn't murder. It was a conflict between two warriors and the superior warrior came out on top.
Murder would be if he stabbed Boba through the heart right afterwards. A defendless young boy.
Mace Windu didn't murder Jango Fett. Mace Windu killed him as a soldier kills another soldier. It's not murder.

It's true. He can't just hate Mace forever or he'll become stuck and never move on.

Even if he could have taken out Dooku and decided to act on it; his attack would have inevitably left him open to a fatal attack from Jengo Fett. There's a 50/50 chance that perhaps Master Windu could've taken both Dooku & Jango out; but more than likely he would have killed Dooku and then left himself open to being struck down by Jengo Fett. In that eventuality, if Master Windu had fallen to Jengo after killing Count Dooku; then Jengo Fett would have definitely succeeded in thwarting the Jedi battle of Geonosyis and perhaps most of the other Jedi warriors would have fallen without Windu's Lightsabre skills and support.
Hard to say. It's been pretty much studied to death that the Jedi of the Old Republic shouldn't have been involved in the Battle of Geonosis because they weren't military. They were law enforcement at best, and you can't expect a policeman to do the job of a solider.
But really as much as Jango hated the Jedi, he wouldn't have stayed in that battle if he delt the killing blow to Mace Windu. He's Mandalorian yes, but he's also a father, and not really interested in being part of something that doesn't benefit him in some way. He's only with Dooku because Dooku is his benefactor. Without him, he's got no reason to stick around the battle. His hatred/dislike of Jedi isn't a ruling factor in his life, just a piece of it.
After killing Mace, he would have taken Boba and left, only killing Jedi if they got in his way.

Windu shouldn't have granted Jango an easy death. Jango should have suffered and rotted like Anakin for all the evil deeds he committed.
What evil deeds? Death Watch killed Jango’s family and his mentor Jaster, the Jedi wrongfully accused and massacred all of Jango’s True Mandalorian brothers. Jango wasn’t evil. Even Hondo said that Jango was a friend and honorable man. He was just a simple man making his way, and wanted to avenge his True Mandalorians and raise his son. Windu holding his saber up to Jango’s neck brought memories of what the Jedi did to his True Mandalorians, and a sign of disrespect. Jango wasn’t evil like Vader and the Empire.
