  • “Knockouts” found in Weyerhaeuser TJI I-Joists are quick and convenient 1 1/2” round holes spaced 12” on center. They are perforated in to the TJI and easily removed with a hammer. Placement of these “Knockouts” does not affect placement of other holes or interfere with bearing points. These unsung heroes of the job site are great for trades looking to speed up productivity by taking the “guess work” out of hole placement.

Framers don't even try to align knock outs. 20 years working around TJI and have never had more than 2 joists with knock outs somewhat aligned.
Fine for sparkys, but for the mechanically minded plumber, "Bring me the Hawg and a 1-3/8" bit."

Exactly right. I’ve been trying to get framers to learn how to install these for years.

Can these be used in place of headers? I have a termite eaten 8 1/2' 4 x 12 garage door header that needs to be replaced. The I-beam would allow for insulation.

Do the holes support weight? Can i suspend something through them?

The knockouts on mine, don't knock out. It's just like banging on any other spot on the joist. Drilling was way quicker.
