It's just one of those things that you gotta try and see if you like it, I will say from the last video the overall length wasn't my preference. I'm sure you'll enjoy a longer one, awesome vid!
Hey Tony, so I'm considering getting the MGW Shifter but have a few concerns. First and foremost, can it be done without a lift? Second since the car is new will it void my warranty. I know some dealers won't void it but some will and this has always been an issue with aftermarket parts.
I don't think it's that much of an upgrade really. Yes you can do it on jack stands but it will be much more difficult and this will not void any warranty. Really any mod has to be proven to be the cause of the warranty claim in order for the dealer to deny the warranty on said part.
Hey Tony, new subscriber and love the content. First, I'm actually impressed with that OEM shift linkage, looks nice/more robust than what I remember being on my 08 GT500. I actually still have the OEM GT500 shifter and linkage in my garage, even though the car has been long gone. I should go look at it now to see how it compares to the current setup. Anyway, I was gonna suggest you look into Raceseng shift knobs (I am not affiliated or sponsored so no financial gain for me). They also make different length "extenders" for their shift knobs so you can set the shift knob height to whatever you desire. I actually got one of their shift knobs for my 18 Accord and a 3" extender to help bring the knob height up far enough where it wasn't causing me to have elbow/arm clearance issues with my drinks in the cup holders.
Oh and bonus, if you are AD or former military (Veteran/retiree) they give you a discount. I think you just have to email them and maybe send a copy of your ID card or DD214 to them).
Thank you for being a subscriber and for the kind words! I have the MGW knob on the way and it is not at all recessed so I should be good and pick up an extra inch or so of height which should work. Thanks for your service and yes I am ex military. 9 years Air Force, active during Desert Storm.
@@TonysFordsandMustangs How did it turn up? Was the MGW knob higher? I am currently looking at the very same dilemma and cannot find a definitive info. I understood that in the video you considered the OEM knob with the adapter to be significantly lower than the OEM knob on the OEM shifter, but you actually had not compare it to the MGW knob on the new shifter at that time yet.
@@risa4fun I ended up buying a knob from MGW and that worked out well. The OEM knob is a half knob. and the threads almost go all the way to the top of the knob. MGW's is a full size knob and threads start at the bottom. Plus there is a lock nut so you can adjust the height a bit.
@@TonysFordsandMustangs Thanks for the clear and concise explanation. I finally understood how the OEM adapter works. I did not realize that both variants are using the same rod/thread and that the OEM knob is actually screwed by its top half, while the MGW knob by its bottom half. Makes sense now.
You need to get something that sits up and threads from the bottom. The factory knob is useless with an MGW. The threads start in the center of the knob and run to the very top. It sits so low that it's unusable. Find something that works for you looks wise I guess.
I really enjoy your videos being a Ford Employee
Thank you!

a two inch shifter is taking short throw to an entirely different level of short.

Do you push down to go into reverse?
Yes you do.
Hi! Do you need the oem adapter?
Not if you order the knob from MGW
Bad tech data put an AFTO-22 in on it 😆
Nobody ever looks at those things! 😁
The problem is those MGW shift knobs are ugly imo
