Hey Phillip, Philip here, also with 2019 GT with same shifter. I was wondering do you feel a lot more vibration now? It doesn't bother me much and I love the shifter. I was generally just curious.
That car was totaled by an inexperienced driver and I bought a 2022 exactly like it. This time I decided to pass on the MGW. The slight amount of improvement doesn't justify the cost.
Thank you for the kind words and yes the MT-82 factory shifter is awful. I had a Barton with a Two post bracket on my Boss and that was $$ well spent. HUGE improvement and a simple install. The biggest issue I had was someone at the Factory applied half a tube of Loctite on the factory shifter ball which I had to break in order to remove. Once that was off the rest of the install was easy (1 hour job tops). IF you had a MT-82 get an aftermarket shifter ASAP. Either Barton or MGW either is much better.
Thank you for doing this. I am pretty impressed with how good the stock shifter is. However, I have MGW shifters on my 03 Mach’s 3650 and had one on my 19’s Mt-82. It was worth the price each time. On my list of mods to do…
As long as you know it's going to take a bit of time to install it. :) Much more than an 03 or an mt82 ( I did both of those myself in an hour taking my time )
@@bradbradley353 Not really the tough part of this is front and on top of the Transmission. Once the passenger side is squared away it's easier. Plus mine was complicated dues to the shaft coming off the shifter being 180 out making the threaded pin bolt on the passenger side as well.
I have a 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca with 21k miles. Ive been looking really hard at selling and buying a Mach 1. From the looks of it the exact specs you have. Don't track mine just like having something unique. As far as having one or the other as a second car goes I'd be interested in getting your thoughts.
So I definitely want a shorter throw for my Mach 1, butt the MGW did seem a bit on the short side (and you confirmed it). That, coupled with the pain-in-the-butt install, I may hold off on putting a new shifter in. Thanks for the review.
If you buy the shifter knob from MGW it's fine. The factory knob is more of half a knob and threads run to the top of the knob itself. I covered that in this video. ruclips.net/video/-pxAFgzuieM/видео.html It is an improvement but no where near but no where near what you saw if you upgraded on an MT82. It's better but not night and day better. It is a bitch to install especially if you don't have access to a lift.
Hey Tony, this thing reminds of the Honda S2000 shifter...never drove a better manual shifter. Looks great, guess the throws feel way more direct. Only downside I see from the viewers perspective is you lose the awesome iconic design of the original. Anyway, have fun and thanks!
It is more direct but not as big a difference as say the Ford MT82 shifter upgrades. The OEM shifter is decent in these cars right out of the box. This is better but, it is not a huge upgrade over the OEM.
@@Zander13Productions Thank you sir! I watch your videos and you do a great job! I am relatively new to RUclips content creation. I recently retired & started in earnest this past September. It is a good shifter I'm sure I will appreciate it more as I get some miles on it.
Watched your video last night before I did the install today, Glad I did. Couple of things I found: I must have had way more space at the tunnel on my 2017 GT350, as I was able to get all the bolts out with my smaller 3/8” air ratchet. Had the entire thing removed in under an hour. I lost 30 mins on step 1, the removal of the shifter knob. I replaced it last year and obviously put way too much lock tight on it. Had to destroy it to to get it off 😢. The big time suck was clearly the rubber boot install. I finally gave up after 90 minutes. Totally stupid design (are you listening MGW?). I think I had about 5 hours total, so if you back off my shift knob issue and their boot install the real time is between 3-3.5 hours with air tools. Dramatic difference on my GT350 with 29K on the odometer. Should have come from the factory with one!
My MGW was a bit off. The bolt that's at the top of the transmission tunnel was 180 out. I had to install it on the passenger side which made it a lot worse of a job. I did call MGW and they offered to fix it but it would have required me to ship it back and it didn't affect performance so I just gutted it out. Thanks for watching and sharing!
I installed the same mgw part on my 2022 mach 1, and with each change I feel like a small noise that is felt in the hand and heard, do you feel the same when making the changes?
Unfortunately that car was totaled by Nissan Altima driver who essentially pulled a pit maneuver on me. Insurance covered it after they saw the dash cam footage. That stated I id have an audible click when I shifted gears but nothing drastic or unexpected.
@@robertpacua873 Thanks brother for sticking up for me but I think they are making a joke about the size of the shifter handle in relation to a part of the male anatomy.
I installed a MGW RACE SPEC Short throw shifter on my 2019 Mustang GT. I absolutely love it. It is a world of difference from the factory shifter. 😁
Agreed. The OEM MT-82 is a joke. The MGW or Barton with two post bracket is a huge upgrade.

I've done that install on jackstands in an hour for my buddy 🤷♂️ good to see you like it he likes his. I've been debating buying one for mine

Wow, love these videos. Seems it would be more beneficial to the MT-82 because the Tremec is the cream of the crops for manuals

Hey Tony, which spec did you go with? Or do they not offer the four different specs for the tremec? Thanks.
For the GT350 or the Mach 1 (Tremec) there is only the GEN 2. I know of no other company currently making short throws for the Tremec.
@@TonysFordsandMustangs Cool. For the MT-82 they offer 4 different throws. What percentage reduction is the gen 2 you picked up?
Sweet review and shifter. I’m sure this was one of those installs that you have no motivation in filming after all the frustration lol.
MGW did such a detailed job there was no point in duplicating the effort.
