The portobellos with mashed potatoes is such a brilliant idea! Very versatile recipe as we could use butternut, acorn, Kabocha... squash and other mashed root vegetables. Thank you!

I want to thank you Chef AJ for doing these WLW. You've saved me time and time again. I'm like a child that gets distracted and needs to constantly be redirected. I for some reason tried being raw again for two days and ended up binging on nuts. I trick myself into saying raw is better for my digestion. But even if it is, it's not at all sustainable. My mind keeps tricking me because 2 years ago I lost 20 pounds being low fat raw vegan, in 3 months. I keep watching your videos and telling myself that slow and steady is much more sustainable. So thank you for doing so much for FREE for your followers. I do plan on joining UWL when I can afford it in the next few months. 💜

WEIGHT LOSS WEDNESDAY Yes. The amount I ate was high fat. Many low fat raw foodists use small amounts of raw nuts in their dressings. Then the overall fat percentage for the day is low. I bought them thinking I'd do that. But they are a trigger and I just ended up eating a bunch. Plus when I looked at the package 15 nuts was 150 calories! I could have a very large potato due the same calories. So I've told myself I'm done with ever trying to be raw again. I'm going to follow your recommendations with food and food addiction. It just makes so much more sense.

      What are "But nuts?"

    • @karinacerros618
      @karinacerros618 7 лет назад

zillynana The reason you binged on them was because you wanted nuts. NUTS ARE NOT BAD FOR YOU!!! Avocado, nuts, seeds, hummus are good healthy fats that provide essential nutrients. I use to think like you. Until I went on a more higher fat vegan diet, still more higher carb and good amounts of
protein. Try eating a healthy fat with every meal, trust me. I gained 20 lbs on a low fat vegan diet. And lost 15 lbs so far on a higher fat vegan diet. Watch Bonny Rebbecca and especially HealthyCrazyCool he is a vegan nutritionist and explains perfectly in his videos why healthy fats are good for you. I don't know what so many high-carb vegans demonize nuts and seeds, when they are delicious, make your meal so much more satisfying and great for your health.

WEIGHT LOSS WEDNESDAY I appreciate what message you are trying to spread. I'm vegan myself. But please don't "demonize" nuts they are actually really great for your health. Many people think low-fat is the only way to be vegan. But it's not and please, if you can, try to say that might work for you, might not work for everyone else.

I just LOVE that you have a "normal" kitchen, Chef AJ! You are one of us, without a fancy, huge kitchen and no pretense. I have gratefully never really had a weight problem, but I have suffered from acid reflux for years. Now that I am eating the way you suggest, I haven't had heartburn or acid reflux since THE DAY I started eating this way. I am so very grateful to have found you, thank you for getting the word out and for providing so much great content for free...I have binged watch many of your videos. Keep up the great work!

If I have more food on my plate when I become full, I must go put my plate away. If I sit at the the table with my plate in front of me chatting with family, I will keep picking at the food until it is gone. We must recognize our habits and work to overcome them. We are our own worst enemies.

Chef AJ, when I started eating according to your principles, I lost FIFTEEN lbs in one month :) And I literally just lost *another* 1.5 lbs :) I'm now 111 lbs. It feels absolutely sustainable b/c I love my food and it's really easy as long as I stay out of restaurants.

Brandin Shaeffer Would you be willing to give an example of an average days food? 15 pounds in one month is a lot when your weight is already low.

I laughed out loud when you said you cook everything at 400 for 20 minutes and hope it turns out! I am also guilty of not reading the books that come with appliances... LOL! :) Love how your outfit matches the lovely purple air fryer! :) Big hugs! :)

I'd love to see you cook your excellent foods in a larger airfryer, too. I think that Breville would benefit from you showing one of their ovens. I hope they send you one.🤞Thanks for the great demo and informative Q&A.🌺

Can I cook a veg that may produce water in the air fryer? Like zucchini? Sometimes when I do it in the oven they produce some water, will that mess up my air fryer?

Chef AJ fyi....I don't think you really want to recommend Bag Balm. I'm from Vermont, so I can bash a product made for cows udders in my home state. "The active ingredients of Bag Balm are 8-hydroxyquinoline sulfate 0.3% (antiseptic) in a petroleum jelly USP and lanolin base."

Leslie Smith why do you go down raw foodist path? That is why are you attracted to it? To me it seems people are attracted to the sugar and sweetness and it's more about an endorphin sugar rush. Or do you think there is a health benefit because if there is one, I can't seem to find any research supporting it.

    • @eelkeaptroot1393

I think the health benefits of eating raw are only marginally better compared to eating whole foods plant-based, I started the raw food journey, cause I started getting detox effects from eating cooked food the next day during my yoga, eating mostly raw cleared that up completely....

Eelke Aptroot well I suppose if you have metabolic issues where certain cooked foods cause you trouble. But that may be an allergy to a specific plant food and unrelated to the act of cooking. For instance, you could cook apples or anything and if you are not allergic to apples then cooking them would not make you allergic to them. In fact cooking often helps make a product less allergenic and easier to digest. But whatever works.
