- 5 Tips for Managing Pet Allergies | How to live with a pet you're allergic to
Thanks for stopping by! I'm sharing 5 realistic tips on how to manage pet allergies and how you can live with a pet, despite being allergic! Animal allergies seriously suck - especially when you're an animal lover like I am. I refused to let my allergies to cats and dogs stop me from having a pet. I have owned two cats in my adult life, and hope to adopt a dog in the next few years. Everyone's symptoms and severity of symptoms can vary, so please keep in mind that my five tips may not be applicable to everyone. With a combination of products, routine and lifestyle changes, as well as patience, I have been able to live happily and mostly symptom free with my fur babies.

Annie - Thanks so much for the mention in your video. You're right about cats not liking being sprayed. We suggest spraying the microfiber towel with Allerpet and then rubbing them down. We have a video showing this process if you search on How To Use Allerpet. Thanks again!
This video was the most helpful out of ALL videos I’ve watched!
From everything I've seen and read, you've packed the most useful information. I just adopted a 3 months Russian Blue cat and didn't know I was allergic. I've been searching a LOT, and am doing the exact same things you suggested: bought HEPA air purifier, Allerpet, have my bedroom free of the cat, brush him daily (with a common brush as Furminator is NOT for daily use), and got a robot vacuum cleaner. Yes, I've spent a lot of money in just 2 weeks, but I've seen things starting to work! In the first week, I had SEVERE hives in my entire body, my eyes were just like OCEAN, bad dry cough, sneezing... a nightmare! Now I've been feeling better each day!
Can you give an update living with your cat after 10 months?
Can you provide an update
Thank you so much! I just got a puppy and was suffering from allergy (I didn’t have it before), so was refusing idea to rid off my puppy. You saved us!
Oh my gosh, I'm so glad I could help! We absolutely can't get rid of our fur babies. Just give it some time for your body to adjust and pop a non-drowsy 24hr allergy pill as needed (I like the generic brands of Zyrtec). :))
Thank you for the info. It never occurred to me that that allergy symptoms may alleviate over time. I sure hope this is the case for my daughter and I 🙏🏾
Thank you so much for these tips! I really want a pet but my mom is allergic to pets. I sent this videos to my mom and now she think about getting me a pet. Thx so much 😆
I rlly want a cat, but my dad is allergic:( so I’m going to send this video to my dad so maybe he will think about getting me a cat!
For me, it's the opposite. My parents want to get a dog soon, but all of my siblings and I are allergic..
Thanks so much Annie, I feel like I've got a curse (severe allergies to cats, moderate to dogs) but am a huge pet lover and it breaks my heart I have this. Especially at the moment where it seems everyone is adopting a fur baby due to lockdown. Thanks for all your great tips. Thinking of going down the immunotherapy injection route but it's very expensive. Thinking of all pet loving allergy sufferers :)
Same. I've wished to have a cat since I was 7 y/o. I always loved cats. But I was allergic to cats for my whole life. Its not something I got diagnosed with at teenage or something. I was diagnosed with pets allergy and asthma since I was around 3. But my health gets better with time. At the time I was 10. My mom finally agreed to adopt a cat. We didnt ask my doctor or advice from anyone. And it made me a lot more worse. So we gave it to someone else- now. I'm 13. And I still want to have a cat. I still suffer and wish to be normal like everybody else. I hate my allergy
@@Marwa2008_ I feel for you :( so not fair, I hate mine too. It's heartbreaking to see other people who can cuddle with them. I did read something about a development of a vaccine to cure it was in the pipeline just wish they'd hurry up for us sufferers!
@@catsapatsalina i wish if its possible..
I truly feel your pain, I am in the same boat!!
@@c.cabanilla8963 oh no sorry to hear that. It truly breaks my heart especially where the is an overload at the moment of pictures of people with their furry friends. 😪😪
Thanks for your video it was very helpful
Yay! So glad I could help! :)
FIRST!!!!! Ha, clicked so fast! This is me = pet allergies & living with 3 cats 🐱 🐱 🐱
Hahah - hopefully you can manage them and aren't constantly sneezing! But it's worth it to put in the extra work so we can have our fur babies 💜
@Cafecito Rosado Just fine actually! But I know I do better with the allergies associated with my own cats, than other people’s cats. If they’re not my cats, then I can have a bad allergic reaction by getting asthmatic, so I always take an allergy pill beforehand.
Thank you for your suggestions!
I just got a husky rescue and I thought I would be okay because I am more allergic to cats. The first few days were really hard, but I am getting better. These are all great tips. I need to get an air purifier and a new vacuum.
thank you so much for this video it gives me hope because I have non stop bad allergy attacks and I love my dog so much, giving him away is not an option. I’ll update my comment after I’ve been able to try the methods ❤.
Awww that stinks!! I hope you adjust over time and are able to adapt for your dog!! Our fur babies are angels that are worth our suffering lol
How bad are your sneezing fits?
i just got a new puppy and my mom is going to rehome him if i don’t get better🥺😭😭😭
Ohhhh nooo!! Just make sure you give it time - especially if you’re a kid! Most younger people can get over / become immune to pet allergies after they have had the exposure! You will find most people with pet allergies as adults are those who never had pets growing up! 💙💙
Miss Annie thank you❤️
Miss Annie my mom has to give him back to the breeder because my allergist said it’s not safe for me to keep🥺❤️
@@kayladanielle7105 that's so sad for you! Hopefully you can get another pet when you're old enough to decide and not your mum. I don't like allergists, they always just say avoid it or take expensive meds etc. That's just stupid, you can't avoid everything! If you're allergic to grasses and pollen (like me) you cannot avoid going outside in spring and summer completely.
If you're allergic to cats you can't avoid them forever cause then you'll react to every single cat you interact with in any part of your life. In order to get better the body needs to go through the hard time of processing and getting used to something, like kayla said. You can support your body a bit but the rest is up to your body. Of course is different if you have severe strong reactions but if it's only the 'usual' symptoms you can get used to it and get better over time. I strongly believe in that and one day I'll have a cat! Just don't give up, you'll find a way.
I want a golden retriever and I have asthma around most cats because most cat people don't clean them because the dander there dry skin, my asthma is normal ichy eyes, throat sucked in a bit, sneezing, btw so sorry if she/he gets took away 🥺
Thanks for the tips! A pet free life is not the same as one filled with the love of pets!
Super helpful tips! I just find it so hard that people tend to think allergies 'go away' or you just need to 'get used to them'. Allergies tend (keyword: tend) to get worse over time. I wasn't that allergic to cats and dogs and my allergies have gotten a lot worse and managing my symptoms is a lot of hard work. There are species of cats and dogs that I'm less allergic to (my medication keeps my symptoms under control), but I get so tired sometimes of people thinking it will go away by itself. My boyfriend has a lovely cat (that I'm less allergic to, thank god haha), but I had been thinking about an air purifyer prior to watching this video. Will definitely get one now!
Yes I agree - my allergies have gotten worse overall in general since I’ve gotten older. What I mean by adjusting over time is specifically being around the same individual animal consistently. When you live with the same animal, your body can adapt to that’s pet’s specific dander / proteins. Not saying this is always the case, but it definitely can happen. An air purifier is a great idea to keep at you bf’s house!
@@MissAnnieB That's true (I'm still hoping my body does, haha, I love that cat to pieces). It's great to finally have a nuanced and helpful video out there because animal allergies are already devastating to have if you love pets and people not understanding how it works and give out bad advice that just hurts us more (having to give a pet away for example because our body didn't adapt), is just the cherry on top. Thanks for taking time to reply, I'm really glad I stumbled onto your channel :)
Thank you so much for this! I have been training my body steadily over the years to some day be at a point where I can happily live with my own pet so this video is very helpful. In my case I am more so allergic to dogs and cats to a VERY low spectrum so I tend to count them out of the “allergy list” Anyway, tysm! ❤
Small Storytime: I once was looking at a movie on a family members couch and they had a large dog that was chilling with us. They didn’t mind him on the couch and I didn’t mind either so, Captain (the dog) hopped up onto the couch and layed on my lap the whole movie. About a hour or so passed and I heard cute little Cap snoring on my lap. It was so adorable I didn’t want to move to much so I didn’t wake him up! 😊
This girl is amazing. I really want an Abyssinian cat- this girl is going to change my life forever! Thank you so much, Annie!!!! Love❤
I had to google that breed - they sure are cute!! Glad my tips were able to help you!! 💕💕
I’ve lived with 3 cats before in an apartment and I am pretty allergic. I would agree time is the best thing! I eventually got adjusted to those cats! I just got a dog and I’m allergic as well I hope I will adjust to him as well ☺️
how are you adjusting so far?
Do you take antihistamines??
How long does it take to get adjusted and adjusted to what degree? Do you feel normal now?
How bad are your reactions?
Thank you! I adopted a cat 2 weeks ago and I am fighting allergies. I did not have allergies with my previous cat. I will definitely use your advice. Thank you !!!
How bad are your reactions?
Do what she says!!!! Ive done it and I could live with a cat, and I have allergies where my throat closes and I have to take 3 puffs of my inhaler
My ears started to feel full of water, also felt it around the base of my skull. It was bubbling and glugging inside my head. Id have to tip my head forwards and water would just pour out my nose. The doctor even asked the questions to make sure my brains weren't leaking lol. She didnt ask if I had a new pet, which i had, a cat, but having never been allergic to animals (I was 53) I convinced myself it couldnt be him....and id had milder symptoms occasionally before he arrived. Anyway, she suggested nasal irrigation with salt & baking soda in water (tea spoon of each in a pint of water), sniff up through one nostril and out the other. I really hated the idea, but its great, the first time i tried it my symptoms instantly reduced by about 80%.
Now I try and wash my hands more, always after smoothing the cat. I brush him most days, and use a de shedding tool. I can go weeks even months without symptoms now, but the past few days Im suffering again. The nasal rinsing doesnt hurt at all, it doesnt burn, and is a really healthy practice for many reasons, it keeps viruses at bay. Ive watched videos of them doing it to tiny babies with congestion in the middle east, we'd stick a suction hose up their nose. The babies didnt cry and you see all the mucus come out in one big blob. The salt and bicarb kill the infection.
Thank you so much! For me its very odd personally why im allergic to my new puppy because I’ve went to friends houses who have dogs and never gotten a allergic reaction
Does your friend have like a Samoyed or a poodle?
How’s your allergies now?
Thank you for this video. My friend was having to give up her cat since she is moving and my boyfriend and I really wanted to help her but I was scared because I am allergic to cats. So far its been manageable its only been two days but I am trying to conscious especially of my hands touching my face. Ironically the cat is bonding to me the allergic one more so than my boyfreind. She has been such a joy :) this video gave me good advice and encouragement to keep her. Thank you!
Thank you so much and I'm glad I was able to help! Hope that you guys are doing well with the kitty!! :D
Thank you for this video!! We just adopted a kitten and was thinking to return to the breeder because of my son's allergies... your video gives me hope that we can make it work! Thank you!!

@@Justastranger11 well I started feeding her daily 1 boiled egg and I think that has helped me tremendously in addition to a special soap I use to bathe her. I can post here link and I started taking a supplement from Whole Foods called Quercetin with Bromelain. I wish you the best. Its hard. The egg does not work 100% but it helps some. Give it a try and a few weeks/1 or 2 months. Its hard because I am also super attached to my puppy. As of now I am keeping her home but if I am not 100% in 2 weeks she is going to my moms then :(

Awww thank you so much!!! :)
My twin sister is a dog groomer. While my pet allergies were always worse than hers, we still both had them as kids. Thankfully, the allergies were tolerable and we were both able to live safely with both dogs and cats. When my sister first became a dog groomer, her allergies flared up really bad. But now that she’s been doing it for almost eight years now, her allergies are completely gone. I experienced something similar when I became a retail pharmacy technician from 2015 to 2018. While it’s a different bodily function, the premise is similar. The fact is, I never once got sick. I spent so much time around sick people that my body built up an incredible immunity to colds and all flu strains. When I transitioned to an office pharmacy setting and spent patient interaction times by phone, by the first winter, I caught every cold my coworkers did along with the flu. Working at home as a pharmacy technician has made this worse. I catch everything now, including two bouts of thankfully minor COVID-19. I go back to an office setting on April 11th. Let’s see how that winter season goes!
It really is about giving your body enough time to build up resistance to the allergens. My Chihuahua and I have been comfortably living together for almost eight years now. I am not allergic to him at all anymore. While I had cats as a kid, I haven’t had substantial interactions with them for years. I always did have the more severe allergies growing up, so I wonder how I will handle bringing a cat into my apartment. I recently went to about three shelters with my twin about two or three weeks ago to play with the kitties. Not a single sniffle, sneeze, or eye itch! My goal is to adopt a kitty around August or September once I finish moving out of the apartment I’m living in now. I will take all of the information in this video to heart when that time comes! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing your experience!! Glad I could help too :)
This video was very helpful!!
I’m soooo glad!! Thank you for watching and I wish you some allergy relief soon 💕💕
Quick question, i know that I react to the skin stuff but why do I get a rash when a dog licks me?
Because the proteins your body is allergic to come from the animal's skin and saliva. This also happens to me! Benadryl ointment always clears it right up for me. 👌
Thanks I'll try whatever I can! I have just started letting my cat sleep in bedroom after 11 years and never thought I'd be allergic to her it's horrible!
I already went to the ER twice because I just cannot breathe good or catch my breath. The itchy eyes or watery eyes do not bother me I just want to breathe thanks for the tips
My daughter and I took my granddaughter to get a hypoallergenic puppy because my granddaughter is allergic to dogs. We picked out a cute bichon puppy and my granddaughter interacted with her and even named the puppy while I did the paperwork. Everything was almost complete when we noticed my granddaughter eyes started getting red and her face broke out. Long story short, we could not take the puppy home and it broke her little heart. She cried all the way home. We were so disappointed.
Ohhhh I am so sorry to hear this!! 😩😢
I have asthma but I don’t really have asthma “attacks”... I just feel slightly short of breath and sometimes my lungs hurt when I take really deep breaths, that’s pretty much my only allergy symptom to dogs other than the occasional sneeze. Do you think it’s possible to live with a dog if I’m on meds?
It's really hard for me to say. When I got a cat, I didn't want to have to take allergy medicine every single day. I'm NOT a doctor, but I believe you have to let your body become immune to the specific animal over time. That's why I made this video sharing all the other alternatives to taking allergy meds. If you feel like your symptoms aren't currently unbearable around dogs, then I definitely think you could get a dog because they will most likely only improve over time and you can probably ween yourself off of allergy meds. 💜
Miss Annie it’s kind of unbearable but I’ve seen things saying meds could help a bit so I’m not sure :/ and I don’t wanna give up my puppy
You should get a toy or mini poodle they’re really good for allergies and asthma and they’re amazing dogs you won’t regret it!
I also have asthma but no attacks of anything, I live with a cat and am allergic so I can’t sleep with her and just have to wash my hands or take a shower after petting her, I used to be able to sleep with her and it was okay until I started getting itchy eyes every night, so you just have to be careful but it is do able, also poodle mixes are great for allergies! My uncle who is very allergic to dogs had a mixed one without any problems!
@@musicbirds5464 in response to both people who mention poodles as a great hypo allergenic alternative. gotta say unfortunately in my experience they are just as allergy inducing. we got a poodle about a year ago and it took me about 11 months to start having symptoms. now they are out of control. hives and full asthma attacks. humans are weird, there is no one way to go about things. i was find for 11 months, no breathing issues at all, would only get slight itchy spot when he licked me, now i cant be around the dog for very long, especially at night time. stay safe

Update?
@@dani_xxv1128 I ended up not adopting the dog, but I did foster for a few days, although I had some itchiness on the first day, I was fine the next few days, so not sure if it was just from other animals at the shelter, so perhaps only an issue with certain breeds or just the Initial interaction for me.
Its the protein in their saliva not their skin that people are allergic to.
That is true but I get reactions just being near them it is mostly from saliva though
I used to own guinea pigs as a kid, but then I became allergic to them. I’m watching this video to help me for when I have some again in the future.
Feed your cat/dog chicken eggs. That's it. That's all you have to do.
There is a protein in your cat/dogs saliva called Fel D1. And chicken eggs... Specifically the yolk has an enzyme called IgY. I the IgY neutralizes the Fel D1. It takes a few weeks to see a difference but it works. We've been doing it for our cats and my boyfriend can pick them up and pet them now. Our cat just had kittens and if he touches the kittens he breaks out in a rash. So once they get old enough we'll feed them chicken eggs too. We also recently bought a dog because the eggs have been working and we've been feeding him eggs too. But we've only had him for about 2-3 weeks, my boyfriend still has reactions but not nearly as bad as the first few days. In a few more weeks he should be completely okay to be around without any reactions. Don't feed your cat/dog any more than one egg a day otherwise it's bad for their health. Best of luck.
Raw eggs or cook them?
@@lilyup323 cook them. Raw eggs have a higher chance of salmonella. Just one egg a day. More than one egg a day would be bed for their health.
I make homemade food and put their eggs in their food. But if you don't want to do that you can boil a whole pot of them and feed them throughout the week. Or scramble an egg every morning. Whatever makes it easier. It'll take a few weeks before you notice a change. It won't happen immediately.
@@bluejay_j ok thank you I appreciate it
After how many months should it work to where my son has no allergies to put dog ?
@@laylacastillo8586 like.... 3 months? After a month you'll start to notice fewer reactions. 3 months you'll still have a reaction every so often but won't be nearly as bad. You have to make cooked eggs and feed it to them every single day even after the reactions stop.
Having allergies is bad enough but if you have allergies to what you love like cats and dogs or animals in general, it's like having a curse. I love animals! My dog of 13 years just passed last year and I suffered with allergies for the whole time. I pet all the dogs I see when out walking they love me too and I pay for it. Swollen itchy eyes, hives, asthma etc. Not fun! I've tried just about everything. My air purifier gives me minimal comfort, bad reactions to over the counter allergy meds like Allegra & Zyertec. Best result with Benedryl but still suffer when exposed. I am the cat lady where I live and I have fallen in love with several stray cats. I pet them and suffer if even one dander gets in my eyes. I want to adopt a couple of them but I don't dare because of the of allergies. I really hope these tips work for real! Thank you! 🌺

We've just got alasken malamute my son maybe be allergic to her but we've only just realise it, but he's never suffered from.this before when we lived with my mum n she had 4dogs
So there's actually no such thing as a truly 100% hypoallergenic pet. Different breeds just produce different amounts of dander and proteins. Some people tend to react worse to different breeds (this is me). I believe kids' immune systems can adjust to allergies easier than adults. A lot of adults have animal allergies because they didn't have pets growing up (this is me also). I'd suggest giving him some time to see if his immune system adjusts before, and maybe trying out a few of my suggestions in the video before considering getting rid of your pup. (I'm not a Dr, this is just my 2 cents from past experiences).
I just got a puppy a week ago (ive had dogs yearsss ago but nothing recently) and my eyes have been so dry and itchy. I think im allergic and I'm absolutely DEVASTATED over this because I have been bonding with her but IDK if I can live YEARS with horrible sore eyes. IDK what to do and that is what led me to your video!
I swear by Zaditor eye drops for allergies. Head to your local pharmacy and grab those along with a bottle of 24 hr Zyrtec and I can almost guarantee you will find relief. Also give the Allerpet that I mention in the video a try. Just be patient - I bet your symptoms will improve ❤️❤️
Did your symptoms improve?x
@@sophiefrancis8767 yes i got an air filter and it helped a lot idk if my body got acclimated with being around a dog or if the air filter helped but im a lot better now
heyy i’m really late but, my cousin is getting a dog, and i have eczema, and i have very severe itches around my hands, neck and eyes. do you think that exposing myself to the dog will help or make it worse?
The proteins are actually in the cats saliva.. but Great video, well informed.
Thanks for sharing your tips!! I’m allergic to pets, especially cats and I have baby kitten that I’m fostering which I want to keep! I’m not sure if I will or not given we are also trying to have a baby too, but we want to keep her.
Aww I hope you find some relief and can keep that kitten!! 😍💚
I'm curious about a couple of things if you could help. My daughter has been getting rashes on her legs and feet for a couple of months now. I have cats but my ex where my daughter stays 5 days out of the week has no cats. The rash has been getting progressively worse and her not feeling well after being around cats. A doctor also did a scratch test or skin test and determined it was a cat allergy that way. The issue I am having is, is it possible to continue having an allergic reaction days after contact with the animal or animals that cause the reaction and for that reaction to progressively get worse while she is not around the animal? Just recently she was exposed to my cats last weekend. Didn't show any physical outbreak of rash, said she didn't feel well, took her back to my ex on the Sunday, picked her up the following Saturday and her face is covered in a rash or hives and is pretty severe... Is this possible to happen this way? Why would get body continue to have an allergic reaction and increase in severity even when she's not in direct contact with the animal? Sorry for the long story... Just want to rule out that it is not possibly coming from my ex's place where something could be causing her allergic reaction to develop and worsen and the exposure to cats possibly just being something that could add to it? Thanks for the advice.
I’m allergic to cats but I do love my kitty. I had a boyfriend once where I noticed the litter box did the most damage to my breathing . (I have a patio and I put her litter box there, thank goodness she’s ok with it) Even after I no longer stayed there my eczema was out of control for even two months after! Any dander or pet hair on clothes will affect your Dd , her nails need to be cleaned regularly too. Hopefully her room is a safe zone where no kitty is allowed. I also have a small couch cleaner and I clean the couch every two weeks. I have an industrial vacuum and should vacuum frequently.
Thank you first of all. I was told the dander and allergens come from the saliva ?
Yes I believe that is true as well!! I think the allergens can come from both saliva and the skin itself. Glad my vid was helpful :)
i got ige level 265 and found that allergies with dust mites and some other stuff....no allergies with cat or dog ? can I adopt or try foster?
Lucky you that your allergy test came back negative for animal dander! If you've still had allergic reactions to animals in the past, I'd definitely try fostering first! Otherwise I'd say full speed ahead for adopting a new fur baby :)
Fantastic video. Especially the part with, you cant just give up the cat and miss on the joy. That is just taking the cowardly way out instead of learning how to deal with it. Its just a stupid allergy and there are solutions to it.
I actually can't tell if you're being sarcastic or serious 😆 But I agree wholeheartedly either way!!
@@MissAnnieB ah, i was serious. i adapted to my cat and now everything is fine. initially had strong allergies and was quite desperate, and searched for solutions thats how i found your video. cheers!
@@andreimclive ohhhh ok! 😂 that makes me so happy to hear then!!
i’m getting a cat soon and i know i’m allergic, would you recommend to not take medicine and just let the allergies get worse over time or just maybe take meds everyday to help the symptoms?
I suggest only taking them when it gets too irritating to put up with the symptoms. I was taking them on a near daily basis when my first cat came home bc it was rough. Do what you need to do so you're not suffering, but you should be able to kind of ween off of them and notice your symptoms bothering you less over time. Congrats on getting a fur baby 💜
Why don’t you actually speak to a board certified allergist? Even the presenter admits she’s not a physician. People these days….
Thank you for this. I am wanting a golden retriever but I’m allergic to dogs.
They make you sneeze?
I️ chose to subscribe. This is a concern I have. I️ just finalized the adoption of a baby Siamese. I️ get her at the end of the month. I️ noticed my throat close when I️ visited the fosters. But I️ thought it was because the foster had so many animals (7 cats and a dog). I️ love cats and have always wanted one. I️ hope I’m not allergic. I’ve visited friends apartments that had cats and I️ never had a reaction. Which is why I️ went ahead with adopting the kitten. I️ hope it was a fluke. I’ll be using a lot of your advice.
Just thank you 😂👍
When ur allergic to a air purifier
What do you mean with air ducts? Is that air conditioning? We don't have that in Northern.Europe.
Thanks for your tips. I'm picking up our cats on Friday if the shelter vet gives his/ her OK.
Yes - the air ducts / large pipes in houses that carry and disperse the air conditioning and heat throughout your home. I hope you enjoy your new fur babies!!
Great Video..Beautiful lady both inside and out...Great attitude.
Why thank you sir 💚
we just got a new kitten that we found on the street and i'm getting hives so does that mean i'm allergic? :(
Ohhh nooo 😨 - yeah hives are a sign of an allergic reaction for sure. HOWEVER, I think hives are one of the least problematic symptoms for most people - they always go away quickly with some Benadryl cream for me and cause very little problems. I hope you can give the kitten a furever home! 💜💜💜
Miss Annie thank you! we found out i had ringworm so i'm not allergic!! yay! :))
skylar soto I’m so glad for you!! 💙💙😍
Miss Annie :)❤️❤️❤️
I have dust mite allergies way worse then cats, my mom doesent bother cleaning BUT SHE GAVE AWAY MY PRECIOUS PEPPERMINT WITHOUT EVEN TRYING ANY SOLUTIOMS
Wondering if there is some pills to stop this.. We really wanna get a dog, but im allergic to them... Pretty strong symptoms.
I take an over the counter allergy medicine when I need it, which is basically everyday right now since it’s spring. Zyrtec or offbrand Zyrtec are my faves. Talk to your dr and see what they recommend- allergy shots are also a great option 👍🏻
@@MissAnnieB thank you so much! i’ve always wanted a cat and i’m looking into getting a kitten soon because of how much this helped :) i won’t let my allergies stop me from loving a pets ❤️
@@MissAnnieB have you tried telfast 180mg??
@@MissAnnieB how many mg is Zyrtec?
I'm here for more Abaddon.
I have wanted a cat for 8 years but my dad is allergic. He says he's allergic to the fur. Now im confused. Please help me. And we want to get a cat that likes to be outside becouse we have a HUGEEE backyard (no pool) I live in sweden and its not hot here. I was thinking we could get a little cat house. It could be his little place where he can chill. It can be outside to not activate those terrible allergies. I would have one inside to. Maybe in my room. Not my dads. He could also be inside (obviously) and he can have a little food and water/milk bowl! I want a black one like yours!!!!
Nina._.editsXoX_. Awww I hope you can get one! Your dad is allergic to the dander proteins in the fur, not the fur itself. 🙃 Lots of people have outdoor only or indoor/outdoor cats. Yes, if they live primarily outside make sure you have a warm place for them to sleep! My cats have only been indoor, so I’m not sure how to train an outdoor cat to not run away, so make sure you do some research on that. 🥰💙
@@MissAnnieB i have researched cats alot! And if I have the chance to get one I'm gonna adopt and not shop! Ty for the video! ^-^
Is it ok if I sneeze and have a blocked nose but only sometimes have that
I suggest just taking an over the counter allergy med when you get those symptoms. 💜
@@MissAnnieB thanks
How do you deal with skin rashes? Only thing I seem to have a problem with
I used to struggle with skin rashes too - anytime I got licked by a dog! 😂 I've always had luck with the Benadryl cream ointment!
My sister bought a cat going to try this. Hopefully it works. Do you recommend allergy medicine? Like Benadryl
I hope you can find something that helps! Yes I still take allergy meds if I feel a flair up that’s bad enough. I’m not a fan of Benadryl because it knocks me right out. I recommend 24 hr Zyrtec or Claritin. I use the Walgreens brand of 24 hour Zyrtec and that’s my fave I’ve tried so far. 👍🏼
@@MissAnnieB oh thank you. Claritan might be the one i take then.
How is she getting on? Has her symptoms improved
Do you get face swelling
Does anyone get breathless from cat, also my nose constantly runnings in the morning for a hour or two till I get going, I more concerned with my breathless trying to figure out the cause
Breathlessness can also be due to allergies! It feels similar to asthma. I sometimes get that when my allergies act up. I also still currently wake up with allergy symptoms until I get my day going. It can be super annoying.
@@MissAnnieB sounds exactly like me haha, the breathless will come and go, like couple weeks on then couple weeks off, I know I’m allergic to cats was tested years ago, but got a cat anyway, I had 2 cats in the 90s as a young lad but allergies were never this bad, oh well
I’ve been taking allergy pills. Now I finally found new ways to help.
I have mild allergies to dogs and I really want to get my own especially now that I’m done with college. I really want to try what your tips and try living with a dog, but my biggest concern is what if it’s ineffective and my allergies are really bad? I don’t want to abandon a dog after taking care of it because that seems just wrong and immature.
Also I’ve read all over your allergies will worsen over time when living with a dog and having allergies.
Well, I was told that if your body gets used to something, you'll start to lose your allergies. This isn't always the case for everyone though, some people's allergies can get worse.
But did you get one by now?
Does this work with ferrets?
Your cat is sweet.,what's her name?
Thank you! He is my baby! His name is Abaddon. 💚😀
I only get a bad rash from my dog other then that it is nothing else tho
Super
I’m allergic to cats but have one and plan on owning a rescue someday so I really need to get over these dang allergies 😔 I can’t help wanting to snuggle my cat even if she makes my eyes itchy and gives me a rash
Ohhh I feel the same way! Unfortunately the only way to truly know is to take the plunge and live with a cat! Look into fostering a rescue kitty - that’s a great way to have a trial run! 💙💙
Miss Annie Thanks! I started fostering then adopting a cat 😅 she is amazing and I went over to my aunt’s house last weekend, she has two cats and I only had a couple sneezes and no other allergy problems at all! I think she’s really helping
