      Dog, this song FUCKING BANGS

    • @antonbarkland2194
      @antonbarkland2194 2 года назад +7

      Nah... I wouldn't necessarily call it an "unbelievable" opening to the album...
      But I do however think that it is a somewhat decent one though...
      I did show some sort of promise so to say...
      Because the track has some of that Limp Bizkit magic that we always have loved them for...
      It did give that little glimmer of hope that this album had turned out to be a pretty decent one...
      But I don't think it gets that much better after that one...
      Unfortunately... I think it mostly gets worse...
      I like the INXS cover though, which sort of surprised me for some reason...
      I think it's quite good and Fred does a pretty decent/good job with the vocals.
      "Goodbye" is decent finisher with its surprisingly pop-ish sound (like it or not), even though I might think it's a little too simple in some sense... Fred does though pull off some quite solid singing...
      "You Bring Out The Worst In Me" had potential... If it could have been a stronger, and also probably a bit longer, song... The chorus to me is really what puts me off about this one...It's bad, unoriginal and cliché and I think Fred and Wes is to blame for that.
      I can't say I care much for either "Dad Vibes" or "Turn It Up, Bitch"... (The later sounds like quite a huge rip-off (or heavily inspired at best) of Cypress Hill's "I Ain't Goin' Out Like That"...) So it doesn't exactly sound original by any means...These songs to me, sound more like some sort of bland Fred Durst solo project to me, or something... Instead of rather be an actual solid effort from the band... (One could debate how much of a band they are at this point...)
      Overall I think this album should have been better of as a four track EP with Out Of Control, Dirty Rotten Bizkit, Don't Change and Goodbye... And not an eleven track album... Unfortunately, it still wouldn't have been particularly great though in my opinion.
      I don't want to sound too negative... But I just thinks it's a shame.... Because ten years had already passed since "Gold Cobra" and that one was a somewhat decent effort by the band... It showed some promise and a return to form so to say.
      The "Endless Slaughter" single from 2014 was pretty cool and different... I was like a progressive side to them of some sort...
      Imagine if we had gotten an entire album in the vein of that song instead(!)
      I think they also have looked pretty damn good live... At least in 2015 and before that.
      But here we are in 2021 and we get this quite stinking pile of dog crap... (I hope I don't sound to harsh.)
      Not that they really owe us anything or something... But I do have to say that it is quite disappointing... Or at least I am (disappointed)... But I'm not necessarily too surprised.
      I think this album compared to "Gold Cobra" makes me look back at it as more or less a masterpiece compared to this one...
      This album is just very meh and underwhelming... Not a solid (especially band effort) by any means. 2.5/10.

    • @Rhythmic1274
      @Rhythmic1274 2 года назад +7

      I'm on board with turn it up, bitch, too. The album starts off with 4 bangers and then loses pace. I like Don't Change, but it feels like the track orders could have been better.
      I really hope that they put out more music though. Everyone is on form here, we just need Otto to crank that snare back up, or bring that OCDP beast back from Significant Other.

    Oh man. I haven't heard your new record yet but that riff was certainly original. It was like you thought 'well, I'm gonna take every riff ever written and NOT do that.' I tried out for LB at GC and a lot of people actually thought they might take me. The audition guy said 'finally' as soon as I started playing like he thought I was pretty decent, but I'm sure I was too much like Lifeson, Eddie, and Mustaine for them to be interested. Glad you returned though because I felt you were the core of the band. It's funny, I love the 80's metal but literally the only 90's band I can honestly say brought a smile to me other than Mr. Bungle was Limp Bizkit. Carry on sir, very good.

    What I love from Wes Borland's riffs is how strange they are when played on their own, but amazing when the rest of the band comes in.
    Wes knows how to create great compositions with his rather unorthodox playing style, and I would rather listen to that than another bedroom shredder doing a generic alternate picking pattern in speed.

The thing that sells this riff tho is his use of the tremelo bar. I love his delivery using the bar. His tone and delivery are much more unique than the riff itself.

      IMO Wes's great strength is knowing exactly when to quit adding to a riff. He puts just the right amount of interesting notes, in just the right places... and then he quits before the groove gets cluttered up. Its almost a very "anti metal" aproach. You can very much see the Primus influence IMO, as Larry is also a master of that style of riffage.

There’s one song on a Limp Bizkit album that has an amazing sound that almost sounds like a step sequencer or tapping. I wish I could remember the name. I’ll have to go back and look it up but I remember being a kid playing guitar trying to figure that riff out and it felt so complex at the time and I have a feeling it would still feel that way today if I tried to learn it except now I can actually learn it but it doesn’t mean it would be easy by any chance.

    From a retrospective viewpoint, Wes Borland, John Otto and Dj Lethal pretty much carried Limp Bizkit to greatness and would've made an amazing trio on their own.
