  • This episode is all about top value Napa Valley Cabernets.
Cabernet Sauvignon is my favorite grape and Napa Valley is my
    favorite region.
But Napa Cabernets are expensive! I picked for this edition of
“Decants with D” three outstanding, AND affordable Napa Cabs at around
    $30 per bottle:
    1. Robert Mondavi, Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, 3.9 on Vivino, $32
    2. The Hess Collection, Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, 4.1 on Vivino, $29
    3. Chateau Buena Vista, Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, 4.3 on Vivino, $33.

Ha Ha! Aunt Carole and I used to do that in NH and record our comments in a note book but we also made trivets and trays with the corks! Well, Dietmar?

Did a tasting between the Robert Mondavi and the Hess this weekend after watching this. Can confirm the fruit explosions in the mouth. Enjoyed the Mondavi much more than the Hess.

I applauded when he said under 30.00 and when he said Cab is the King 👑 of grapes 🍇 (:

Great video man! Unfortunately, I wouldn't make it past the 2nd glass at your tasting event. 😴

    Under $30 Cab… hmmm
    J. Lohr Hilltop is a bottle I gravitate toward at that price point. Bottles can be found closer to $25 which is nice.
If you want a “Caymus like” wine on the cheap, Hilltop has similarities. There are others even closer and that I buy as an almost 1:1 alternative for around $50. If you know… you know! ;-)
    Cheers!
Long Island… just visited East Hampton last weekend and had some nice local Rosé. Not a big drinker of LI wines but I like Duck walk.

Duckhorn cab is a tasty napa wine. But it turns slightly sour and flat really quickly if you decant it roughly over 1.5 hours. The oak and the fragrant fruit just kinda disappears for some reason. It is just me? How strange

Don’t tell me you’re tossing your wine 😕?
That tells me that the wine is not that great, great wine don’t get tossed away 🙂
