I met the legend on the weekend and he is the real deal. What you see on YT, is how he is, always smiles and always runs around to make everyone feel at a home at Nicks Garage. I had the pleasure to sit with him and got the dream ride with Nick and the Kowalski. This car is a smooth rolling machine without any rattles, or noises. Thank you Nick.
Gosh Nick, at the start of the video I had the awful thought you were closing down the business due to the sober feeling from turning off the electrics. Then you lightened our spirits by turning out onto the road for a glorious drive in the mighty Challenger. As usual lovely camera work and the V8 burble is pure simphony. Congratulations on living the dream.
Hi Nick. Thanks for taking us along. I really miss my old muscle cars - my last to go was my favorite - my 66 A code 4-spd Mustang Coupe, Tahoe Turquoise w/ black vinyl top and black standard interior with a rare split bench seat. I had much faster cars (429 SCJ 4-spd Torino Cobra) and more valuable cars (428 R code 4-spd Mach 1), but my 66 was the one I enjoyed driving the most. While I think it's great to drive such a rare and perfect restoration around and enjoy it as it should be, I always find that when you have something nice on the road, it is like a magnet for idiots and jerks that seem to go to extra effort to ruin it somehow. I drove / drive beaters and sheet boxes that I couldn't care less about for years without any incidents at all, and as soon as I had or have a nice car, a restored or freshly restored motorcycle, or even a new car or truck, out of the woodwork crawls all the careless low lives who have to wreck it somehow.....leaning or sitting on the bodywork, door dings, key scratches, dents and dings, chipped glass, flying debris from insecure loads, cigarettes and McDonald's thrown out the window, everything from stupid carelessness to outright vandalism. I can't think of any of my loved specialty vehicles ever going an entire summer of sunny day use without some kind of negligent or wanton damage being done to them. I sometimes wonder why I bother trying to have something nice or new......we need some of those force field shields like in Star Trek to be invented.
You're singing my song. Rebuilt a '68 GTO convertible - got T BONED, rebuilt a '57 T Bird - had to sell it because of a divorce, Rebuilt a '71 440 6pak Challenger - lost to same divorce, rebuilt an '86 Mustang with a 302 4 speed- rear ended at a stop light and was a total loss, rebuilt '68 Road Runner 440 auto - rear ended and COMPLETELY TOTALED with 2500 miles on a ground up resto drunk hit me at about 60mph while I was stopped at a light, '70 Super Bee 383 mag, lost in a divorce ..... I gave up after that .... even if I bought another car, which I won't, I'd be to afraid to drive it .... I left out all the stories of vandalism and door dings etc. in general, people are jerks ........ and I'm being VERY polite.
Nick, Thank You, for respecting the car. Anyone can beat the crap out of a car, you showed us respect and restraint. We all know it will burn rubber, that's not the point. It's a survivor, thanks to you....Peace from Tommy in Minnesota
Nice ride Nick. Brings back memories of my cousins car. He had a 70 AAR cuda. 340 w2 heads 4 speed 4:10 gear. That was the car I learned how to drive a stick shift. Thank you for the flash back. Jeff
THANK YOU for this new format of video. I love the garage but I love just driving around in these amazing muscle cars and listening to the stories and thoughts that Nick has to share. Please, more like this. Video quality is amazing, sound of the 440 is amazing. "What more can you ask for?" (c) Nick's Garage.
Had a scare this week delivering life saving blood products in the middle of the night, thank god it was just a cold and not Covid, but I lost a few days and scared the hell out of my family who has already lost my father to Covid. This video calms me and reminds me of the great times I had helping and watching my dad race at the local tracks. My mom was state champion a couple of times driving for my dad. He could put them together, but he wouldn’t rail on them like mom would. Remember if it’s not going fast enough, pound on the dashboard with your hand! It always worked for my mother! “Go faster you blankety blank!” She told me that’s what she’d say.
Thanks, Michael. We're glad to hear you are ok and we are sorry for the loss of your father. It's very good to know that the video of the Challenger can help to make you feel better. We all need a little oasis from time to time. These cars can roast tires and smash gears.. but sometimes it is about that freedom to just drive and leave the worries behind for a moment.
Nick's Garage as I’ve told you before I am originally from Maine, worked at the BIW shipyard, my dad raced trucks in Maine and I loved my Quebecois neighbors. You are a very special group of people, no matter where you were from originally as a family. You know about loyalty, honor, respect, duty and most of all community. In the big cities it can be hard to build a trustworthy bunch of people you love and care for, but guess what? I am doing just that here and I love my new city and friends, but yes hard work is exhausting and we need to reach that intellectual “Vanishing Point”. It’s a way of life Nick, you are building dreams and teaching others to find their Vanishing Point. It’s not just an escape, it is something to live and strive for, no one can take away what’s inside of you. Amen, thank you, as you know I am a huge fan of Vasili, he makes everyone proud to be around. You all do, you are an amazing bunch. I cannot hold back the feelings I have towards you all, it’s touching. If we never meet in person let me say to you that your story and life has inspired too many people to name now, including myself. 🚗💨/\ straight to the Vanishing Point. - Freedom Forever
Nick, I know how much you were looking forward to the big car show in Pennsylvania, sorry it got cancelled. Thanks for the ride along... Awesome car!!!! Take care Nick...
Thanks Nick. I am finishing up my 70 RT 383 4 speed. I sold it to a buddy in the early eighties. He repainted it white, and removed the vinyl top. I got it back and drove it that way for several years. It is back to original color and vinyl top again. I watched VP back I. The day, at the drive in. It was a treat when it appeared on TV. Once VCRs came out, we were in heaven. We could rent it and watch it to our hearts content.
This video is a perfect example of why we love these cars. The way you just simply enjoy a nice drive after all the hard work you've put into restoring it, explains the pure joy of what its all about. To hear the sound of the engine and feel the road through the wheel, nothing else like it! Thank you Nick for sharing this with us from all over the world. Cheers from Aus.
Thanks Nick , I know that warm feeling of driving around the neighbourhoods of my youth in Edmonton . It would be great to have my Rambler back , my first car my dad bought for me when I was 16 . That's my dream .
Great car, takes me back to my first year working in a new car dealership. I started in September of 1969 in a Chrysler Plymouth Dealer. We had Barracudas, of course, but I always thought the Challenger was a better looking car. My first new car was a 1970 Plymouth Duster. It wasn't a go fast but looked cool. As always great video.
I watched that movie 🎥 on an LPH Carrier in the Gulf of Tonkin back in 1972. Kowalski was the anti hero with the iconic white Challenger being pursued by the police 👮🏼♀️. Thanks to Nick for bringing back this beautiful machine back to life. The Challenger is immaculate down to the Colorado license plate OA-5599. Nick is Kowalski a well respected mechanic and feared on the street. Great memories and a fine tribute to the seventies. Thanks again Nick.
Work like Nick's takes dedication This is how Nick does his meditation Thanks for the low down and a run around town The Kowalski Challenger always turns my frown upside down!
I've had a model of this car for 15 years now. It sat on my shelf for quite a long time and every so often I take it down to dust it off. Strangely, I lean more toward the Hurst Olds 442, the 1968 W-30 body style in personal preference, but I wont ignore the Challenger.
Nick. You are the man 👍👍 thank's for keeping these cars alive. I built one just like that, sold it and seeing ur's makes me want it back.God bless Brother from America 🇺🇸
Thats exactly why I want an old classic. Something to get out and unplug from everything after a stressful day. You challenger is beautiful, definitely up there on my dream car list
AWESOME CAR. Love to see it on the road and it really is brand new. It was a pleasure seeing the rebuild process and your buddy that did the dash will always be a part of that car. But it’s really cool to see it on the road.
Honestly, and at age 81, I think Barry Newman himself would be honored that so many people, from all over the world and all walks of life, still have the fondest memories of that beautiful, powerful '70 Dodge Challenger R/T, that iconic film and of him in that role some 49 years ago. Long live Kowalski! And, thank you for reawakening the 7 year old in this 56 year old's mind! My love for Mama Mopar will never die! Glad yours won't, either! I guess that's why you've built such an amazing replica! 🐰
Such a nice ride Nick! Smooth, tight and a throaty exhaust are a mental massage. That's what I always liked about the 440. It was happy all the time whether it was cruising at 2200 rpm or slamming you back in the seat at 5500 rpm. Thank you for sharing it and God bless you buddy!
the Kowalski is a wonderful dream that Nick has built into his reality i just want to thank him for this , i have been a subscriber since sometime in 2018 and i have to tell you i believe that Nick is the most honest, down to earth man on you tube so thank you Nick for teaching this younger generation what you were taught.
I’m British. Always wanted a white 70 Challenger since vanishing point. Just awesome. We love your cars over here. I’ll never be able to have one but my god, this is the best era to travel in. 👍 from Bonnie Scotland👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
I always told myself when I was 16 I would own a 85 Sierra Classic, I got myself one. Told myself I would own a Harley, I got myself one. Now I always tell myself I'm gonna own my dream car 69 roadrunner
That's what all the hard work is for, to be able to get out do what puts a smile on your face. That's such a beautiful R/T, the whine of the trans reminds me of my 69 340/4spd Dart Swinger!
Great video work I felt like I was right there in the passenger seat thank you for all the hard work that you do to take us along with you and Nick and Nick's amazing life and the rides that he gets the ride in down the road hope everybody staying safe God bless
I had time to watch the video in its entirety last night and I just want to say what an absolutely beautiful car that is. Very happy for you Nick. Could hardly be happier.
My dream car is a 79 camaro i finally got my hands on one this year and believe me nothing is better than driving your dream car after a long day at work
What away to start my day given how heavy the rain is coming down over here today! Wow simply wow, thanks Nick brings back choice memories , that classic just simply sound awesome with that sweet rumble as it cruises down the road with a slight wine coming from the gears when down low makes for a simply beautiful ride mate thanks for sharing. Hey George you did an equally awesome job on the filming to so thanks buddy.
Taking out the dream car for a nice drive. No need to bash the gears or do burns outs. The smiles Nicks sees of people driving by is all he needs to see to know that he built his car perfectly.
Nick, that was awesome! I loved watching almost as much as you driving it I'm sure! Thanks for posting and for you and your teams time to film, edit etc. You guys are special and that makes us feel special, thank you!
The steering is great Nick. No play at all. The A-833 has a great whine too. Most of those people you drive past don't even know what that car is but they know it's a special car as it passes them. It's time for a drive from Denver to Grand Junction westbound on I-70.. that would be a great video! Take care and thanks for bringing us along for a dream ride.
Even the underside is beautifully restored, Nick. One could eat off that floor pan! Lolol!! Exactly why you want to stay out of the rain, eliminating the subsequent roadfilm that gets produced and whipped all over by the tires. Totally agree.
I just don't understand it. there are 36 thumbs down, why? Nick does not hurt anyone, he's polite and tries to help anyone who asks . He welcomes all who want to join in and proudly flies flags and tries to bring us together . Of you're not happy here why come? Do yourself a favor, leave Nick and his friends alone.
That Challenger is beautiful...just as shame they don't build em like that anymore...style and flair...and the noises it makes...love hte old cars. Nick, thanks for the (virtual) cruise!
Nick, watching this I felt like you were a very lucky man, but then I realized it's really all your hard work paying off.Congrats Nick, and thanks for the ride!
i'm glad you got to enjoy your car. i miss the days when cars were cool, and going for a cruise and burning a tank of fuel was "the cool thing to do". all you need now is an under dash 8 track, some parcel shelf speakers, and a "bobbing head dog" in the back window, with a "pine tree" air freshener hanging from the E-brake handle. cheers from Ontario.
Thanks Nick for taking us for a ride enjoyed it your car looks beautiful and I love the sound of it looking forward to your next video stay healthy thanks again
If that 427 was mine ..I'd put a blanket on it and tuck it into bed every nite too! Hell I'd give it bottle and read it a bedtime story about all the Chevys it will destroy when its feeling better. Lol :) . Love your car Nick, thx for taking us along!
Georges car Nick. My brother bother a RR in 70 with the pistol grip. Yours is nice and tight as you most likely rebuilt the entire linkage to be tighter and smoother than they were brand new. No doubt being that was hand built every nut bolt and screw was carefully set in place. Much much better than they were made out of the factory. Most of them were rattle traps with tinny sounding door closures etc. So nice to see one master crafted and solid as a rock. What a great investment. You are sitting on a gold mine. Worth at least 100K at a Barrot Jackson auction. Thanks for sharing with us.
Kowoski Vanishing Point 1971. I love that movie. I was 4 years old I remember seeing it in 1974 at 7 years old. My late Dad had a 1968 Dodge Monaco he bought in 1974.When I see those old Dodge Polara it reminds me of him. I wish Barry Newman could meet you Nick. That's a part of history. Also remember Speed is Freedom.
Man on a mission.......and a dream that came true. Amazing feeling when you build something from the ground up with your bare hands . Here's a machine that rose from up the ashes with a lot blood, sweat and tears to bring this old girl back to life. She's beautiful . She's all yours Nick and congratulations she's a real gem. Enjoy, life is good. Thank you for the ride l felt twenty again. I also want to thank the camera man on the great shots and editing of this video as well. All the best to your amazing TEAM you have at your shop. Long live Mopar Muscle! Edmonton, Alberta
It’s Nice to see Nick getting out and enjoying the fruits of his labors in his beautiful 70 Dodge Challenger. One damn hard working man! The Kowalski Challenger is no trailer queen! Built to be driven and enjoyed! Enjoy Nick, you deserve it!
Nick, Your Challenger is wonderful and you deserve it and your attention to detail reflects on everything you do and of course enjoy it my friend and Thanks for sharing your vlog...
So beautiful!!! You deserve it Nick you work so hard brother!! I wish you could build a car from all the classic car movies once a year from Bullit, dirtt Mary crazy Larry to the 7- UPd!!!
When I was a kid, I had a 71 'CUDA with a 340. I always wanted a 4-SPEED 71 'CUDA with a 440 6-PACK.. To have the skill and knowledge to build one must be the greatest thing in the world..
Can You imagine, walking down these streets, and Nick pulls up at a stop sign, in the U code challenger ? Straight. Clean. A rumble from the exhaust provokes a comment from anyone standing there; " That aint no 318 ". Nick cracks a smile, stands on the accelerator, grabs the pistol grip shifter, pops the clutch, and she lights up the polyglas tires... Kowalski just cruisin' downtown boys. This is the real deal.
I love taking the big red Chevelle for a ride, but today's traffic can make it nerve wracking, too many cars, bikes and people not paying attention. Getting harder to find a good old county highway to just drive. Love your car Nick, I always liked the Challenger too because of Vanishing Point movie.👍💪
the start of the video felt like a funeral , vanishing breed , but the cruise made up for it . car sounds great and no annoying rattles and such . hope you get t o drive the car a lot more before the 4 letter word arrives
That was very cool Nick... You’re Kowalski is a totally awesome ride! I’m right there with you on taking your dream car for a cruise to recharge and relax.
COngratz on your dream car. Last time I saw it at your shop, the body was on the hoist and drivetrain on the ground. I wish everyone who watch you to get their dream car one day.
Tom. Always a pleasure to share with my viewers. Thank You.
How can I get a ride?
Gosh Nick, at the start of the video I had the awful thought you were closing down the business due to the sober feeling from turning off the electrics. Then you lightened our spirits by turning out onto the road for a glorious drive in the mighty Challenger. As usual lovely camera work and the V8 burble is pure simphony. Congratulations on living the dream.

When the road offers no opportunity to drive fast it forces us to see and enjoy the details of the car and Nick''s work. Good selection. Good cruise.
Every road has the opportunity to go fast...
Thanks Nick it was a pleasure Riding with you, and great camera work also
I love your videos Nick! Thank you for building the Vanishing Point Challenger, and for sharing it with us.
There couldn't be better story teller than George. His voice makes the final voilá to all videos. Great video again. Cheers from Finland.
Thank you , Tony. Much appreciated.
Even the underside is beautifully restored, Nick. One could eat off that floor pan! Lolol!! Exactly why you want to stay out of the rain, eliminating the subsequent roadfilm that gets produced and whipped all over by the tires. Totally agree.
That Challenger is just beautiful Nick. I love it. Really nice job you did on it.
Thanks for the ride along Nick. Reminds me of driving my 1st car around. 1968. Firebird. Miss it😞😁
I just don't understand it. there are 36 thumbs down, why? Nick does not hurt anyone, he's polite and tries to help anyone who asks . He welcomes all who want to join in and proudly flies flags and tries to bring us together . Of you're not happy here why come? Do yourself a favor, leave Nick and his friends alone.
Not to worry. You could make a video about puppies and sunshine and someone would give it the thumb.
That shot of the Kowalski doing out of the garage was pretty damned sweet.
Thanks for the ride Nick! You did a stellar job with that thing...and you deserve a little time to yourself. Enjoy!
i'm glad you got to enjoy your car. i miss the days when cars were cool, and going for a cruise and burning a tank of fuel was "the cool thing to do". all you need now is an under dash 8 track, some parcel shelf speakers, and a "bobbing head dog" in the back window, with a "pine tree" air freshener hanging from the E-brake handle. cheers from Ontario.
It's so hypnotic to hear that 440 rumble, the whine of the Dana 60 and to see the glow on Nick's face.
She looks and sounds awesome really something to be proud of thanks for the ride.
Thanks for letting us ride along. Love the sound of he exhaust....
Thank you Nick and Team !
Thanks for sharing your Challenger with us Nick! Perfection in motion. Would love to see it in person someday
nhra. Looks nicer in person.
I know how you feel Nick I jump in mine and just tune out to the world and do this at least once a week great therapy listening to a v8 mopar !
Thank YOU for the ride Nick.
Such a sweet Challenger drive it love and be well.
Thanks for the ride along .l don't get my car out very often life is so busy. Enjoy.
The Beast! The Best! Challenger 1970 RT, São Paulo - Brazil.
Thanks for taking us on the Challenger with you, Nick - I'll watch this video more than once, that's for sure! What a car!!
Fantastic car. Nick's focused on the Vanishing Point and achieving that with a perfectly restored Kowalski 440. Job very well done!
I like the rear licence plate.. That was a great movie!
Man I miss my 70 rt. She was sublime with a 440 4 barel torqflite and 8-3/4 with 4.10s. Great times man.
Probably the best 70's challenger there is. Nothing too much. :)
Loved that video you can feel the love Nick has for that classic not beating on it , but just granny shifting it and enjoying the moment just awesome!
Straight. Clean. A rumble from the exhaust provokes a comment
from anyone standing there; " That aint no 318 ".
Love your car Nick, I always liked the Challenger too because of Vanishing Point movie.👍💪
great drive around the area. green and beautiful. car runs perfect. you deserve to take satisfaction for a job well done.
I have wanted that car since I first saw Vanishing Point in 1971 when I was 17
Love the 1970 Colorado Plates. I got identical 1968 Colorado plates for my 68 Torino (originally sold Colorado Springs).
This never gets old. Beautiful car in a beautiful setting.
the start of the video felt like a funeral , vanishing breed , but the cruise made up for it . car sounds great and no annoying rattles and such . hope you get t o drive the car a lot more before the 4 letter word arrives
That was very cool Nick... You’re Kowalski is a totally awesome ride! I’m right there with you on taking your dream car for a cruise to recharge and relax.
Nick's garage where he brings dreams alive, including his own. Awesome
Thanks for the ride, Nick. Beautiful car!
it is good to get out once in a while....love this 1970 challenger.......stay safe nick and crew...
COngratz on your dream car. Last time I saw it at your shop, the body was on the hoist and drivetrain on the ground. I wish everyone who watch you to get their dream car one day.
She's a thing of beauty you've built yourself there Nick @ well done carry on from little friends across the pond in London
