I've been listening to them since I was 17 or 18 years old. they're just simply the best light jazz group that I've ever ever had the experience to listen to and I still listen to the same songs over and over and over and over and over and over again. and over and over and over again right up there with Santana who have been listening to since I was a senior in college and that was a long time ago ❤️
I was fortunate enough to attend this fabulous concert! This was the whole setlist... Spyro Gyra - Seabreeze 2022 1. Walk the walk 2. Groovin for Grover 3. Captain Karma 4. Shaker Song 5. Catching the Sun 6. Morning Dance 7. I Believe in you 8. Cockatoo 9. De la luz 10. Dancing on Table Mountain 11. Tempted by the Fruit of Another (cover)
I attended one of Spyro's concerts a few years ago and was knocked out by their energy. They played for over 2 hours and every song Hit The Note. They been doin it for so long with a smoothness unmatched by just about any other band I've seen. And still doing it today. Not just a great..But an Outstanding band.
Love Scottie(playing Oskar Cartaya's original bass lines)paralleling Tom Schuuuuuu Schuman's synthesizer lines at the beginning...great sound mix there. Jay on alto y soprano at the same time. Pat Prescott of the local radio station that started that jazz format no one likes because it's so sleepy was on stage right before a break for the band and ask Jay where he came up with that Jay told her when he was in college he saw Rasta Roland Kirk do it and it would be many decades before he decided to try it himself. Julio absolutely incredible Lionel has won me over it took a couple few years but he is tight with the band now musically and friendship wise and he has a great time out there he's always smiling. And what can you say about the greatest piano synthesizer keyboard player of all time Tom Schuman?????
Just saw them for the first time after first hearing them in 1983, had no idea that Tom left the group. But his replacement was absolutely incredible, hope they continue to keep playing...
Jeremy Archer your name is a combination of an extremely important cog in Spyro Gyra lore, original keyboardist Jeremy Wall AND one of my favorite songs from Rites Of Summer
Only seen this video for the first time, but i wholeheartedly agree with your comment. That deserved a much louder reaction than it got from the audience 😆

Spyro Gyra never disappoints.. been a fan since 7 years old in 1982. Always see them live whenever they are in the DC area.

Still today after all the years i've been listening to the band and well, being friends with them, I still get goosebumps when i listen to Jay🙏🏾.
Whoever mixed this live performance, deserves an award. Sounds like a studio recording.

Life is a lot like jazz... it's best when you improvise. George Gershwin.
Saw the DEEP END tour
double saxophone insanity

Tom is great, but I believe that Brian Culbertson is right behind him...
