now that you've had it for awhile has your opinion changed in regards to how it plays? I'm thinking about getting a Masterbuilt. Does it feedback when cranked?
@@baliscotsurf Sorry for the late reply. To cut a long story short, this is the best guitar I've ever held in my hands... it needed some time to be set up the way I like it, because when it arrived the action was way too low (some people might love that, I like a bigger tone). If you are fortunate enough to find one, buy it. Send me a message if you have any more questions, cheers
Day Tripper with a little taste of Eleanor Rigby back to Day Tripper That gives us a little taste of The Dead and their jam band ways flowing from one song to the next back to the 1st song or maybe to another song all together, very cool
Are you sure that tone switch is 'off' in the down position? Usually it's off in the middle, and the sounds you're getting have that quack that you typically get when it's 'on' in the down position... Ridiculously cool guitar in any case!
LOL. Every new Gretsch bought since 2002 has been made and sold by Fender through their "Gretsch Guitars" brand. "The Gretsch Company" hasn't made or sold a thing for over 20 years.
The 2 pots are both volume controls aren't they, not tone. And he seems to have the tone selector in the down position all the time, giving it a more trebly sound than the middle "bypass" position.
My band mate in 1970 had a Country Gentleman. He sold it for $250 and bought a Les Paul. I shiver to think what the value of that Gretch would bring today.
there are 2 chips on it, above one switch and below the other switch, start checking it out at 1:50...and stop it at 1:56. and a third small chip with pick scratches right at 1:45. Amazing guitar though.
@@montag4516 they do make a BD signature White Falcon. I own one and love it. Gretsch even did a limited run BD Black Falcon..I think they only made about 45 of them.

very cool , great color , luv the gretsch stuff actually , even tho it's a little out of my wheelhouse , I always dug the beatles sound , great version of day tripper , very nice tone in fact , always liked those toaster pickups , I don't have any gretsch guitars but I do have one of those p/u's in my silvertone , great demo as always
Good God, Michael is quite a stud, can play any song on any guitar, such a treat, really appreciate all the time and effort putting these together every day, super grateful!
For a 2021 guitar it's showing a lot of battle scars....do they come "distressed" like that from the factory or did someone just really hammer on this one?
The only thing i hate on those Gretsch is the metal arm protection they put on the bottom of the body, for looks it's great but it's cold as hell when you play with your arm directly on that spot.

A Gretsch is next on my list for a purchase, but I want a left handed one, so I am going to hit up the manufacturer's site and do a little wrangling. This is always the way I do things, I explain I will take guitars with cosmetic flaws as long as it's structurally and electronically sound. I play, I don't collect. I don't care if the guitar is not pristine, and it works, I get a document stating all of the cosmetic flaws plus a warranty to cover structure and electronics. Plus I save a truckload of money far less than manufacturer's suggested price.
A candy apple red fender strat with ebony fretboard makes me weak in the knees. How much does a old penguin go for these days... Just soar that penguin through the barrier with a distortion alreradyyyy....
Why a Penguin ? Of all the birds that there are why did Gretsch go with a Penguin ? Why not a Snowy Owl ? or a Sandhill Crane ? Puffins are nice , what about the Blue Footed Booby ? Albatross ! Albatross !
Lemmo can really play but IMHO always uses too much reverb. Every guitar he plays pretty much sounds the same. Reverb reverb reverb. But man can he play
Cannot believe I was lucky enough to be the one who owns it now.

Day Tripper! This is the first time I’ve ever seen Lemmo play something that I know how to play
*Glad to see a few NON FENDERS being reviewed for a change, a very refreshing change from the norm, no pun intended.*

I remember that song when he played in the middle position. That song was played by lemmo and jimmy hendrex!!! Absolutely killed it 💟💟💟
Absolutely love a good gretsch! They were some of the first guitars that caught my eye when I first started guitar (George Harrison for example).
My band mate in 1970 had a Country Gentleman. He sold it for $250 and bought a Les Paul. I shiver to think what the value of that Gretch would bring today.
May be the best looking guitar I have ever seen on Guitar of the Day. Would love to see that same finish on a 3 pup Falcon.
If you hav an extra 10K that could be a reality, my brother!
Just great Michael. Sure hope Norm is making arrangements for U guys to carry on what Norm is all about.
The second piece! From hendrexz and Lemmo's duo. Love it
Like this sounds!! Thank you!! Want it in my mixes!!

I like this. Gretsch is amazing.
Oh boy, do I love Gretsch Penguin's! I have a Creme De Marine Falcon that's amazing, but I still need a Penguin in my life.
What’s the first song he played????
Gorgeous guitar, looks good and sounds great.
I love Gretsch!
Damn, your bass notes are on point!
Amazing, what a talent to play and what a beautiful guitar!
Anyone know what were the two first songs or licks ?
It was pretty cool.
Very entertaining playing. Nice.
Haven't seen one of these on here in a while...always very cool! Loved the Beatles mash up!
Is there a dint in above the second switch, approx 1cm up, really nice guitar though
HELLO TODD! RU YOU READING THESE COMMENTS?
Got one of these penguins in white built by Stern. Such a great guitar!

Light relic? Looks like it. Tim Pierce has a similar one.
So funny. Trogly just talked about the white falcon, white chicken and white penguin!
Yeah. !!
Hey here is an idea, with all the modern high tech gizmos currently available have Todd zoom in and thump the bass on thumpin thursday ? .
I wouldn’t bet against this one now being sold also 😀
I just saw it on Reverb. $5,999.00

Mud switch. I almost went with one on my build (replica Country Club).

I think it's his own composition.

Lovely guitar but I think a 🐧 Penguin looks best in, well, ... white. Just my opinion. Nice playing by the way too
Is that thing lightly aged ? There are some very strange finish dings for a master-built.
I think so because of the knobs
Wow!
Dream guitar….. I want a penguin so bad

The second was an original, he did a version with Henny hendrexz on this Channel a while back. Its a Tele/Les Paul vid i think
