Dude is drifting an automatic open diff van. People should have no excuse when it comes to drifting.
torquey engine + no weight on rear wheels + skinny tires + hydraulic e breke = drift. not as hard as it may seem, still hard, though!
Ryan, i have the 1 ton, long wheelbase version of this van (with the 350ci v8) and it is horrendously underpowered. To get it to rotate is no small feat.

A dodge van and a snow covered parking lot is probably the most fun my family ever had in a car together. Nothing like having your father take the family wagon and do some solid drifts.

One of the customers at the last shop I worked at had one (a 96?) with relatively low miles, around 60k if I'm correct. Well taken care since it was new.
liam it's because Vans were considered cool in the 70's and maybe the 80's...sometimes with badass murals and designs. They had a surfer or hippy vibe about them.
but as time went on, they slowly got stigmatized with a creepy/abducter/pedo/homeless like image. Just the way it is. Bad mpg doesn't help either

I would imagine having a v8 van in japan is a big deal, when your average joe-san has apartment as big as the interior of that van and gas ain't cheap either

That wasn't a long van. There are two wheelbases and three lengths. That is the medium length. The long vans (called the Maxi-van) are nicknamed "carpet vans" because they can carry huge rolls of carpets or conduit.
I currently own a 1996 panel B2500. Runs strong at 393000 miles with the 318ci engine. Watching these videos makes me want to build a Dajiban!

5 years ago I was given, yes given, a '97 conversion B2500 318. It's my first Dodge and my first van. I'm about to turn 55 and I love my van. I've been redoing the interior to make it more usable/comfortable, but have no idea what possibilities lie under the hood... I'm no mechanic.

This was one of your best videos you've made in a while. I really liked the style and flow of the whole thing. You also helped answer some of my questions about watts on these things. It's my favorite wheel and very hard to get in America so seeing them used on super USDM vehicles that were really not made for them is very interesting to me

This is awesome. I'm from the US and grew up with my father owning a few Dodge Vans. They're of course a dime a dozen here, and I almost want to get one and do my own version of one of these. I understand what he means, it's hard to explain but there's just something awesome about a lowered one of these on those little wheels.

Super cool! I shudder to think at the thousands of hours I spent driving one of those things from Vail to Denver Int. Airport. Two trips a day, loaded to the hilt doing 65 up the passes in 2nd gear. We beat the crap out of those things! Good vehicles for the most part.

I absolutely love my 97 2500 standard wheel base. 318 cargo. They'll peel it from my cold dead hands. I can tell you from first hand experience there are few things in this world cooler than a sik as hell Dodge van. my dream is to eventually 4x4 it and swap in a 4 cylinder Cummins.
yup mmhm oh yeah 4bt swap. Make sure you turbo it though if you do. Nothing like a boosted diesel.

That looked awesome, not much speed but so much fun!! Watching that van drift was superb, fantastic really on an auto open diff - oh I envy you!!! I am amazed that the tires lasted so well considering the punishment they must have gone through with all that weight!

Everyone wonders how they get these vans sideways and then it just unceremoniously turns out its the same mods as everywhere else except stock engines (lol) and they just go ahead and drift the things instead of overthinking it.
That one-off exhaust is so similar to Aircraft Carrier Sōryū.
