There was also Rivian which was quite a breath of fresh air as someone for once stood back and thought about what would actually be useful. The price, however, was painful..
I love this truck! A proper pick-up without being a humongous macho-fuelled toy! I got in touch with Geely to find out when it is arriving here in Germany and they said at some point in 2025, -just sorting out the EU certificates and dealer network. This will be a great V2L solar back-up for your home. Also, the official turning circle states 6.1m which goes down to 3.5m when you have the 4WD version and the rear motor turning one of the rear wheels backwards. My VW T5 is shorter than the RD6 and has a turning circle of 12m so 6.1m turning circle is great!
I live in Costa Rica and these EV are becoming very popular! Realistically here these are doing between 18 and 19 Kwh/100 Km based on what some friends are measuring in the last few months since they bought it. I guess it all depends on the type of topography. Here i'ts very mixed roads and also range is usually less than what CLTC shows, more in line with WLTP. Still great option!
@InsideChinaAuto Yes. Costa Rica is the country with most EVs in all Latin America. A key market for brands like BYD, Chery and Geely. Riddara was introduced here since last year. I did a test drive and I think that this car is missing a lot of driver assistance sensors and cameras. It's sold more like a workhorse car than as a luxury SUV
They should increase the front ground clearance. Hope the software is able to compute the correct consumption of for a long trip without reverting to the average of the averages trick. Still waiting for your Neta S Wagon review.
Data on this seems super nice. For Europe EVs kind of missing good station wagons. I don’t know, why platforms like this are not converted to them. Should be easy and nice
They just released the truck in Thailand, two versions, smaller battery and 2WD starts at a little under USD 30,000 and the bigger one is a little over USD 40,000. There's also some upgrades like a 360 camera and a more refined user interface.
Great reasonable truck! 👏👏 Oh, and the drone shots are really nice! 😍😍 Do you pilot the drone and a friend drives, or viceversa? 😉 I wish here in Europe laws were less strict..
Cheers. I got the drone following the car on the off-road section and I just toggled it a bit to circle the car or go up and down when needed. Turned out pretty well in the end.
i just ordered the max version to Peru, from china. 28k usd with 20kw and 7kw chargers included, 360 camera, tow hook included. freight was 3800usd to lima, callao port, from there ill just charge it and drive it to my place. total cost around 33kusd with the import tax included. if anyone wants to know the supplier who sold me, comment below
@SniperSnake50BMG Not sure it'll be a Hilux beater because they're not really pushing it as a total workhorse kind of truck, but it'll at least offer something electric.
Excellent review as usual, many thanks. Certainly better than the Maxus T90EV which is seeminngly the only electric pickup available in the UK at the moment, it's a shame it doesn't seem to be coming here!
Well hold on tight, it might still yet make it. They seem to have been holding back a bit on getting this stuff out there but I reckon it should make it eventually. It'll be made in RHD at least.
Livan don't do pick-ups, they only do affordable EV passenger cars. They were owned by Li Shufu's brother once upon a time, maybe still are kind of, but they're under Geely now as you say.
I've been waiting for an AWD EV truck with a solar roof and fully independent suspension available in the USA. Guess I'll have to keep on waiting. :-( The only thing I'd request is a less expensive, lighter weight, better looking 2 door option.
I'm in the age group with the money, I need to hear Horse power & miles of range, manufacturers please note, demand imperial & metric on reviews otherwise this age crowd just move on!
You'll do well either way. The BYD is much bigger but not EV. Stay tuned, I have a feeling Geely are going to go balls out on global expansion very soon.
My ICE 4wd finally gave up. and I do not want to throw any more work, blood or money at it. They better hurry up; walking is only fun when it's by choice.
Does it have a spare wheel? The stupidity of the Frunk should be replaced by a spare wheel in all EVs. The inclusion or not of a spare tire should be part of all EV reviews.
@@InsideChinaAuto Neither actually exist in Australia yet, so Shark may win. We have nothing in the ev off road world in Australia yet. First here will do well.
@InsideChinaAuto they are promising, but been waiting years for promises. Once my ICE is dead, will look into what actually exists. I personally wish all versions were lfp.
The Cybertruck is a success! When you and others try to make fun of it in a video I start to think about the CT and stop caring /thinking about the car in the video.
We need small trucks in the US all we get is giants beasts.
You do. Those little Japanese trucks are pretty cool
Chicken tax
Small trucks are banned by law
You’re exactly right!!
This is the Ute we have been waiting for
Great Ute just for fun
That's the one. Nothing too fancy here, just useful load bed and four-wheel drive.
We now have BYD here in south Africa i think this pickup truck will do just fine❤
It should do well, though the Shark is also very good
@@InsideChinaAuto yeah absolutely
That's what we need in Australia given the sales for utes!
Indeed. More EV utes please.
Thanks for another great review.
You're welcome.
Now this is a proper EV Truck/Ute!
This is how to do it.

Good looking cars those Rivians and they seem very robust and clever too. As you said though, price 😐

Yeah, they didn't give me the info on the tank turn ability of the new one when I drove this. It sounds epic.
11,8 kwh/100 km - wow! it's fantastic figures for pickup truck! well done!
Yeah it was doing especially well at that point. Suspect that number will jump a bit in a dual motor version.

Perfect and practical for me a horse and cart without the horse.
So good to see a utility EV that isn't a movie set for a post apocalyptic world.
Haha, exactly. Many of these things have gotten out of hand now.
Today's date: 2035. Remember when I was in New Zealand 2024 and all I saw was Ford Rangers? Mostly. Now, Chinese Pickup Trucks. Oh, the humanity....

Would be a great rival to whatever the Mitsubishi one is called, or the D-Max my Dad has.
This is a perfect size for most countries outside of the US. Any word on over-the-air software updates?
Haven't heard anything about them. Are they not getting through? I had heard that GPDR is causing some issues but not entirely sure why.
15A in the rear tub? You could plug a MIG welder into that!
Precisely.
Never heard about Radar brand before - it happens to be Geely's. Really neat model, I would say multipurpose family car/truck.
