- All about New Orleans Square and it's attraction The Pirates of the Caribbean. I remember watching this when I was younger on Vault Disney. So freggin' happy to see it again.
Pirates of the Caribbean Construction - Part 1
I love how Disney said "They're dunking the mayor into the well" and "they're setting the place on fire" in such a happy sounding voice 😂
And how he featured a sex slave trade auction!
@@generalyellor8188 Yes, because you do know that all that is fake? It is just a ride at a park.
I love How walt was always Exited to share these Brilliant Creations with us. He was a true Progress Fueled American. I'm glad to live Close to Disneyland CA . see it grow and grow.
Walt disney was a good man
he was a nazi.
Noah Palmersheim Actually Walt was a capitalist. He disliked communists and nazis equally, and was very fond of the Jewish people he employed.
AssortedJade You can't tell conspiretard anything. Debating them on the various features of reality is like playing chess with a pigeon, no matter what logical moves you make they knock over the pieces, crap on the board, and strut around like they won. It's the typical testosterone driven paranoid aggression delusion. They will go to court and freak out and try to argue with the judge because there is a gold fringe around the flag in the courtroom.
Abraham Bankhead i mean Disney’s dislike for Jewish people has been parodied by numerous tv shows comedians movies etc... family guy and robot chicken both have skits focused entirely around it. I’d say it’s more of a rumour than a conspiracy
he was a Nasty Nazi sympathizer
Listening to Walt describe POTC, I only wish He had taken better care of His health but who knew smoking was bad for you back in those days.
He was a Workaholic who died too young. A great visionary.
I like both haunted mansion and pirates of the caribbean ride because both rides are exciting.
I love that Walt describes these rides not as a ride, but a show
I can see the Haunted Mansion in the model.
It's sad that Walt never got to see POTC or Haunted Mansion completed. In a way they have never been topped...
"Here their shipmates are auctioning off the town's beauties..."
"That is absolutely fantastic!"
Ah, weren't those the days.
danielmrussell yes, wish they'd bring them back. The days, not the beauties
͡° ͜ʖ ͡ -
Awe. Fun in the 60s. I WANT TO SEE THAT. I wish they still do it. So cool.
Well, there are still sex slave traders who auction off their property to drunken bidders if that's any consolation.
What a way to open a ride. Wish Disney still did that. After seeing this documentary and watching the movie, I want to see the ride... should be just as fun.
It's even more fun!
bjsdemon you've never seen the ride? It's my favorite ride
For Walt Disney to think of all of this...and use all of this technology--for all of the rides--he's pure genius! I'd give anything to see some of the original things put into these rides that aren't there anymore...and to see the grand openings of them.
"You believe in pirates, don't you?"
Walt the f-??
Right. As inane as asking, "You believe in plumbers, don't you?"
What a cute way of opening up the ride for the first time! That would have been great to see.
All these attractions created by Disney and crew are truly amazing. The fact that some of these attractions are over 40 years old is a testament to creative work they did way back then. They are just as fun today as they were then. No small feat to say the least.
I remember when the Pirates of the Caribbean ride entrance looked like that. It still looked like that in the mid 90s. Now it's way different, with a bridge, and stairway, and long long outside queue, back in the day there was no outside queue, only the inside queue. I remember going in the mid 90s and seeing zero people in line at mid day, zero people in line! Walked straight to the front and they wouldn't allow food on the ride so had to eat my churro really fast and got my own boat. Got sick later due to an under cooked churro, to this day I don't eat churros. Went a 2nd time, the ride was badass back then, still cool, but lesser thanks to the lines and the movie related 'updates'.
John Razimus The rebuilt entrance was made to reduce congestion in the waiting line. So, you’re welcome!
Awesome video! Never saw it before. Thanks!!!
That's soo cool.. At 32 I am still so enchanted by Disneyland
Since I was little, something about that guy in scene 8:23 always just bleed with awesome! I think it's how he dresses and carries himself.
This is indeed one of the best rides at Disneyland. I just to Disneyland for the first in 10yrs and i STILL remember that ride like it was yesterday, hell i even remeber the smell of the fog! lol thats how amazing this ride and everything else at Disneyland is. And the new additions didnt really bother me as much as i thought they would. Still one of the best! =D
Disney was so ahead of its time, the other parks have only just caught up. Primarily Universal that is, but in my personal opinion....Walt Disney World is still the best.
Man, I love Walt DIsney.
I saw this on TV when I was a kid. Walt is holding a Kodak 126 instamatic camera. He did a commercial for the camera at the beginning of the show.
& he used that wealth to build a family-friendly theme park…to take people to different times & places. No parties; no jet-setting; no ostentatious wealth; no bribing elected officials.
As for judgment…shall not we all give an account? & since Our Lord told us not to be hypocrites & to do our charitable deeds in secret, we don’t know what people do or don’t do.
He was in the money business. All this stuff made him rich rich rich
Love videos like this
thank you so much for uploading this! i had actually taped this years back when vault disney would come on late at night on disney channel, but my mom accidentally taped Days of Our Lives over it, haha. i was so happy to see it again! :D
"Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world."-Walt Disney
Sadly, Disney Corp ran out of imagination decades ago. Now, it's just acquiring intellectual properties.
Impressive how good Disney animatronics were even back in the 1960's. Many modern animatronics don't even come close!
alas; only on the archival footage can we partake of such an experience
I disagree with anyone who's against the changes made to this ride. I'm 100% sure that Walt did not want the parks to remain the same. Personally, I LOVE the new additions. I've always loved the ride and I'm a huge fan of the movies, so I was really excited when they added Jack Sparrow.
Yeah, exactly. This was probably meant to be watched by families, and the sixties were when the baby boomers started having kids. Walt Disney was both a very kind person and a person with extraordinary vision. He contributed much to America, technology, and the world and is missed by many.
i love that quote
Yeah. I still love the ride even thought they made a bit of changes but there are still a lot of scenes that still exist.
Loved this..thanks!
Wow, whoever knew Pirates of the Carribean would amount to a movie? My dad to this day talks about being 7 year old in 1966 and riding ALL the rides. I wish I had proof.
disneyland is like a second heaven
yay i found it, thank you youtube and freedogshampoo. nostalgia. i have this and other recorded old disney stuff on a VHS lost somewhere.
Disney has made heaven on earth ( aside from cast away cay )
Wow I love this video its amazing
During Disneylands next anniversary they need to hang a giant portrait of Walt Disney in front of the castle and all the guests can bow before it . Walt Disney !!!!!!
If the ride was built today, the pirates would be Somali.
Yo Ho Yo Ho
I am de Captain now!
We pillage we plunder we trade and loot
Guns up me hearties yo ho!
We kidnap and ravage and threaten to shoot
Guns up me hearties yo ho!
Yo Ho Yo Ho
I am de captain now!
it really makes me smile sieng walt smile :)
And there's the biggest bargain of all. Lmao Walt got jokes!
Walt Disney surely did vision that the Pirates of the Caribbean would become a success even though he passed away before it opened back in 1967 he would've been proud
Unfortunately all the original stuff that Mr. Disney has put together all have changed to replicate the movie Pirates of the Caribbean only a few just a few of his original creations still go on to this day.
walt was so happy. :]
Words to live by.
this and space mountain rocks!.
4:06 Madame leota Aka Madame leota
Boy, I wished I worked on a Studio like this...
I find it unbelievable how the tone and editing of this is a bit dated, yet the rides themselves are timeless.
hee hee at the start... she's not really at disneyland but back in that day it probably looked realistic!! XD I wish I was there at that time.
mind blown
0:10 ha ha. little girl snubbed Mickey
god bless Walt....
OMG this is amazing. roflol
That show only happened once, to commemorate the opening of the darn thing in the first place.
haha at 10 seconds mickey got left hanging man
No problem. Did you check out both the Imagineering Department video and the Grand opening?
I was making an example of why somebody should deserve credit and not only be hated for being a racist, reading that as curing cancer grants immunity against murder charges is beyond me. Zimmerman was acquitted from all charges (get out from under your rock) but he wasn't charged for being racist, he was charged for murder. Walt Disney didn't murder any Jewish people last I checked. Also, Kobe's accuser refused to testify against him than they settled out of court.
happy 45th anniversary!!!!
@robsee055 If Walt was here I'd say, "You know Walt, 76.00 a pop is a bit much. Sure do miss those ticket books."
To bad they can't bring back an original attraction for the new generation . tear it down and bring back another.
I just have to Rant about putting Johnny Depp in the ride.
The Characters in Pirates, are based on the art of Mark Davis, which are caricatures of real people and animals.
Johnny Depp looks just like himself.
Conclusion: Disney is all commercial now. No vestige of integrity remains in the company.
Yes, there are plans to.
_like _*_Jean Lafitte_*
-offhand/disneyland fans know-
god 👌* wink wink * * nudge nudge *
So glad they didn’t go with “Pirates of the Horn of Africa!”
So True ^__^
WE WANT OUR REDHEAD
Anythings possible at Disneyland
its a small world will be uploaded tonight. i have a clip of the opening.
He does not say that in this video.
If you had watched this video before commenting you would have known that.
was this before or after he named names to congress? Wunderbar Frau Riefenstahl .... sehr gut
And there is my dad at 5:16 Cool!
I wish i could; dont know where to find it. Although, I did see a slightly different version somewhere.
It's a shame Walt passed away a while after this aired
@MeatballsMarlowe I think he said that because he asked her already if she believed in ghosts during the Haunted Mansion part and she said no. I think it was a joke from the earlier Haunted Mansion segment.
How did Aaron Fecther figure out the imagineering process that was just described @therockafire
that will be uploaded tonight
@ExMachina70 I'm with you there! They could have updated the ride with the movie elements and made it much more subtle and fitting, but as it is right now it feels like they're disregarding the theme and story of the ride in order to shove Jack Sparrow down our throats.
LOL, I bet all that liquor was apple juice... ^_^
If Walt was still around the rides would be so much better. Also what are the character's skin made out of?
Probably wax or latex.
Hugh G Rection It looks like wax but of course I could be wrong.
Silicone Rubber with standard cosmetic makeup with real human hair used
Its on my channel : )
Walt Disney was a creative guy other than his Mickey Mouse
where did you hear that?
What did they do? Unless you consider an "update" a tear-down...
did you go to disneyworld and disneyland?
@carly3592 Especially if you think about it, they didn't do a bad job. It could've been worse. MUCH worse
8:22 because you know pirates drank for coffee mugs
@carly3592 I agree that Walt would have wanted POtC to get updated, but the "Where's Jack Sparrow" theme really gets annoying to watch.
lol she sound's like luna lovegood from harry potter.
just disney world
what stuff he had done
Marcia Miner was a hotty
What do you think this is North Korea ?
God I am fucking stupid.
LOL
*commerce
He was NOT (Capitals mine) Anti-Semetic! People only think that because, 1. During the Red Scare, he belong-ed to a conservative group, "The Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals", that, unfortunately had members who were racist, and 2. Back then it was considered OK to say things that are now considered racist without being branded as one.
im yet to see fucking micky mouse i hugged stich and thats it
