There'd just been a robbery at a Jacksboro pharmacy. The suspect was heading Bailey's way on Interstate 75 northbound in a silver Subaru. And the robber had a gun.
Bailey was originally on the interstate to help a trucker whose tractor-trailer broke down. As he was directing traffic around, dispatchers and colleagues squawked over his radio that a robbery suspect, 34-year-old Michael Hilton of Sanford, N.C., was barreling in the dark through traffic and slamming into other motorists to force his way through the jammed construction zone, and he was coming right to Bailey.
This body camera footage taken from Bailey's perspective shows the deadly encounter that unfolded in a matter of seconds, which ended in a hail of gunfire from officers that ended Hilton's life. Authorities provided a censored version of the footage that blurred graphic imagery and muted audio of strong language and conversations that contained redacted information.

This might sound harsh but I have shown a couple of young people I know a graphic you tube video of what happens in a head on accident when there is speed involved as well as the consequences of not wearing seatbelts. I have seen too many fatal car accidents that could have been prevented.

I work at the Walmart this Dude robbed Dude pointed a gun right at my friend and threatened to kill her over some drugs and money. Im sad that it had to go this far but the cops did what they had to do.

This, thank you for posting this because so many people blame the police or think these criminals are harmless and what your friend will always live with is they were just doing their job and had a gun pointed at them, that fear never goes away sadly. Even tho this low life criminal is stopped and gone, the fear that he put others thru will always be with them. I'm glad they got him, because if he was such a drug addict that he was willing to point a gun at someone innocent all over just some money to enable them to get their fix of more drugs it was only a matter of time before that desire for drugs would have enabled him to take a life for them.
I hope your friend is doing better, I know that fear never goes away because I have a friend who went thru the same thing at her job at a local gas station.

The Officers also aimed at the Driver Only! The object was getting that car stopped from hitting anyone else & possibly hurting or even using his weapon on someone! It was down to a few seconds to stop him & shooting him was the only option! It was a Miracle however that she was not injured!

I've been out of EMS for about 3-4 years now but (For where I'm from) if the patient has a pulse and breathing you work them regardless of if you think he'll make it or not. Like I said it might be different for them but I would have to go through hell and high water to explain why I didn't work him.
Edit- I'm talking about the EMS crew not the cops.... alot of keyboard warriors speaking on a subject they know nothing about.
My dad was an EMT and EMS instructor for basic coursework and vehicle extrication. He has done chest compressions on people that can't be put back together more times than any person should have to. Agreed, you work them if possible until an MD or MICT pronounces them. It may look futile in hindsight, but if it was your family you'd want every bit of effort. That's what first responders do day in and day out.

Beginning right after the shooting there's two officers claiming they got the headshot ... Took me back to when my sons were playing call of duty trying to claim who got the shot...now I don't understand what exactly the accomplished by shooting because apparently the vehicle wasn't stopped until it was well passed the officers so there was plenty of room to maneuver to not get hit by this car how can that be self-defense if the car wasn't trying to really hit you you had places to move around to avoid getting hit the car was not aimed at the officers the officers were standing on the road and the vehicle was not shooting either so to avoid getting hit the officer would have to just do what he did after he shot step to the side that the car pass through unnecessary taking of a human life

Whenever a predator decides to break the law they make the choice to die. And for crying out loud there is nothing with hearing an officer pronounce a suspect dying, died or dead. Good grief this is getting out of hand fearing to have people hear words.

Drugs and addiction convince you to do things you know are wrong.
The drug predominant isn’t getting better. It’s only getting worse. The number one start is weed and prescription pain meds. Often times a surgery or severe pain that requires a couple rounds of narcotics is all it takes to start a dependency and quickly that turns into an addiction. It’s sad. It’s taking so many lives and treatment is almost impossible.
An escaping felon who just committed an armed robbery and is fleeing Police with no regard to anyones safety needs to be stopped before he commits any other acts in which people are hurt. The Officers were justified in shooting to stop that threat to society-in many states, a fleeing felon running without regard to public safety should be stopped asap. These Officers had only seconds to decide what to do...I commend them for protecting society from a deranged, pill popping perp who was on the loose and potentially extremely dangerous with the vehicle being used as a lethal weapon down the road against them or others who happened to get in his way. Any loss of life is unfortunate, but the driver of that vehicle assumed all the responsibility for his actions and was stopped before anyone else got hurt.

NONE of you would ever be able to preform triage at a massive casualty scene. NONE of you. That's where you have to decide who can be saved and the ones that can't be saved at the scene. It's gut wrenching and extremely stressful. If a patient has been knifed severely several times or shot multiple times, veins, arteries have been destroyed, internal organs have destroyed, without surgery at that instant, there is nothing you can do, you put someone with them so they are not alone. Imagine a balloon filled with water and there are holes in the balloon, when START pumping on the balloon or the chest(CPR)the water in the balloon or the blood in the body will be totally pumped out. We don't know if EMS RADIOED the hospital or not. You can tell by a patient's eyes or if you hear the death rattle you know. I said a Prayer for his soul. May he R.I.P.

This is so sad he's really guilty of having a addiction that went to dark. And it's crazy cause he's in a $25-$30,000 vehicle and girlfriend and everything so must have had some normal life. I'm thinking, and this is just my opinion, the officers took an oath to preserve life. The suspect was neutralized and no longer a threat. Just to watch the suspect unconscious and gasping for air would not be the military way (in combat) of handling that situation. Just saying.

My take away from this: Let this be a lesson to all those who do drugs and commit robberies thus resulting in actions that get them shot by the cops. As a result of those actions EMS may not be in a hurry to save certain ones, but they will do their best once on scene. However, the dispatch priority will go to others who do not put other lives in danger, an example is children. I may be incorrect in this assessment, but resources are stretched thin.
EMS couldn't get through the cars all over the highway. It was already backed up. Then he stuck other cars on the highway. God knows how far back the traffic jam went?

I guess I was wrong to think that if a suspect was gasping for breath, LEO would at least attempt some type of life-saving measure. The Cop kept repeating over and over again that "he had a peel' in his mouth and needles on the floor, as if that was a reason not to attempt to save the guy. I guess because I've seen officers attempt to save many a suspect after being shot at or having their own lives in danger. I assumed it was protocol to be unbiased once the danger had been ceased and at least and help the suspect?. I am not condoning the thugs behavior, at all. The Officers did what they had to do to save their own lives. But, at the same time, knowing the guy was trying to live by grasping for breath should something not have been done to try and save his life? Or are officers not obligated, too? I'm just curious. Yep something fishy about this.. one said I shot him; other said I shot him 1st… another one said I shot him in the head… then the trooper said he came at him in his car which clearly didn’t happened.
he did not stop that is a construction zone and at night time in Florida that's when the construction zones are active that would be the same concept as a parade and a car about to drive into those people should you not shoot that driver.

@@JamiHefley addiction is a disease, it’s one that attacks the physiology and psychology of the person. The brain is diseased via the chemistry that affects the mind. The two are different. When the brain is not healthy which can be a result of childhood trauma, ie abuse, sexual or physical, seeing horrific things it leads to depression anxiety ptsd bi polar etc. the drug is a symptom of the mental disorder.
Nobody starts life aspiring to be an addict! And impart it’s a choice but a choice being made from a sick mental outlook. Out mind is what forms our world view. How we view others based on things we been through. Our faith our politics out outlook on rules and law.
Once your that far into addiction your no longer having fun! Life is now hell! The only way to survive becomes that cat and mouse game of how can one get thier medicine so that in a sick way stay alive.
And addiction is just as costly for an overwater, porn, gambling, booze and work. Even those destroy families, kids. Addiction is seen by the AMA as a disease because it’s chronic and dibiltating.

This is a tragic reminder of why you don't run from police. Nor should you commit armed robbery. While I somewhat sympathize with the individual who was shot, had this idiot not broken the law he'd still be alive. Drugs are all around bad news. I am amazed that the female passenger was unharmed. That's pretty much a miracle. Sad to see someone's life was taken but the only one to blame is the deceased. I can't fault the trooper for opening fire. There were a few too many shots fired in my opinion but I was not on scene so I really can't say. Once the vehicle crashed, there was no more need to keep shooting though. All in all, the trooper and other LEOs did a good job. Horrible situation.

The female passenger was not innocent at all. She was with him from start to finish she just got lucky. There was no first aide attempted because it would not have helped he was in Agonal breathing stage.

I interpreted that exchange as one LEO accepting responsibility for the death, because it would mean a much harsher and more detailed investigation for him. He was basically trying to get the other LEO an easier post-shooting review and perhaps a shorter administrative leave.

The suspect was armed and dangerous. He struck multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed. He already committed armed Robbery. Obviously this THUG had no regards for human life!!! As far as medics go, if it happened on the freeway, they call the nearest one but that doesn't mean they can get there in 5 minutes when they could be 30 miles or more away!!! I don’t know exactly what their policies are but if you’ve watched enough of these police videos especially the chases, these criminals will ride on the rims for miles if they don’t wipe out from a spike strip first. So sometimes it really does no good.

I have seen the suspects riding on the rims for as long as possible. In that case, shooting the tires would be of no benefit. Salute to trooper Bailey. He did what he had to do to save his life and those around him.
