    Howdy, so that's a great fix if you have to change the one end due to a damaged end, but the Alignment person is going to hate you, lol every time you need to make an adjustment, you'll have to remove the bolt and nut, and as a frontend guy, it take sometimes several times of adjustments to put it in spec's, (i would charge you extra) no fun, what really needs to be done is to have a set up like a turn buckle type system, (IE tie rod type adjustment,) any way if you're looking to make your suspension adjustable look into a fully adjustable component,,,cheers

    Hey Martin, on your ground clamp, like mine you have a slightly longer bolt holding the contact on the inside of the jaws. On my Mig and Tig i found that i had to reposition my work far far more than stick welding (due to the way the torch handles) so i added a large round rare earth magnate to that outside part of my ground clamp and just slap it on either the vice or my work. My bench has a 12 gauge steel cover and the vice mounted to that, I'll often just leave the mag on the table top and weld fine, saves me a lot of time.

    Martin, WOW. I love your WJ stuff. I have a question that I would like to ask and trust your vast knowledge. I live in the rust belt of northern Ohio and my rear lower control arm front mount has rusted away / torn away from my subframe. Would it cause any geometry problems if I made a longer lower control arms and fastened them to my subframe 12-18" farther forward where it's solid? This is on my 02 WJ 4.7l W/SelectTrac. My favorite of my 4 WJs but it is so rusty, it has become my winter dd. Thanks in advance.

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  9 месяцев назад

      Thank you. I appreciate that, and thank you for watching.
      Yeah, I think it would probably change the geometry a little bit as the rear axle goes up-and-down. It is gonna put a little bit of a twist on it, but I would probably still do it.
      And you're gonna want to do both sides.

  • @gregj.gotham4402

    You say your going to do your front arms too. Are you going to use arms from the front of a WK ? I’m stopping by our u pick u save today to find the rear square arms and I’ll look at the front there too. If the WK front arms are square and bent as my original on my WJ I’ll grab the front arms from the WK. I’ve talked to Ballistic Fabs the other day they have everything in stock and plenty of them poli joints, nuts and square adaptors so I can do the same to my WJ. Thanks so much Martinbuilt.

  • @colinlinssen1746
    @colinlinssen1746 3 года назад

    Awesome job. I am definitely going to do that with my WJ. Do you happen to know how far out you can actually extend the joints???
    For the 3" of total lift from oem specification, the lower control arms need to be 16.09" long instead of 15.75" to keep the correct geometry.
    I am putting a 3" Supreme Suspensions Spacer Lift, Adjustable Track Bar, Bilstien 5100 Shocks, and Brand New OEM Coil Springs with new Isolators.
    I was debating on doing front and rear lower control arms as I know it's going to change my pinion angle a bit and didnt want to spend a ton of money from Core 4x4 or somewhere for them.

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  3 года назад +1

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  4 года назад

      I don't have a video for those. They are good for a couple reasons, for me it limits the amount of body roll and for off road it stops the suspension from downward traveling instead of the shock limiting the travel, that could cause the shock to fail.
