Good video, helpful. Replacing radiator on my Expedition and just seeing hte rusted lines, thinking should just replace them all while the radiator/fan are out of the way, lol.
Just wanted to say thank you for your very good video on changing the cooling lines. I have to make a decision my F150 has 255,000 miles just about 256 now what should I do take it to the junkyard and look for a different vehicle. you made that look so easy yeah I know it really wasn’t. I’m sure it was hard . I don’t have the strength in my arms to do the job.
Great video and thank you for sharing in such detail. I have a slight crack in my hose beside that clip. Do you think i can just replace that small section of about a few inches with a rubber hose? If so would you or anyone know what size hose I'd need to fit over exisiting metal hose? Again thank you 👍
Ik this is a stretch but im rlly struggling to find part numbers, i need every trans line, including the ones from the auxiliary cooler, and how many are there total cuz the previous owners had bypassed the trans cooler and ran theyre own lines directly to the radiator plugs and cuz the old ones coming off the cooler so im kinda like begging for help lmao 2001 ford f150 with the 5.4 and 4r70w trans
On my 2000 with the same transmission and also with cooler there are three lines. I replaced two of them, a long one from the transmission to the upper radiator, a shorter kind of straight one from the transmission to the passenger side of the cooler. The other one that I left in goes from the driver's side of the cooler to the lower radiator. It is shorter but very bendy. I did show the Ford part numbers for the two I replaced in the video. I hope this helps.
When trying to install new cooler line cut it in half to make it easier to install - then using double flair tool install union reconnecting the two parts of cooler line - much easier than trying to install the whole line in one piece
I agree that fitting these lines in place is difficult at times. But I have just have trouble with cutting a new formed line apart so I guess I'll continue doing it the hard way.
Did you not have to remove the steel line at the cooler on the passenger side? Pop it out of the fitting? where did you leave that little pigtail of line there and hook your new hose on to that?
I usually don't, but I called the dealership on this job for that very reason. They had trouble with finding the right parts too, but if they found me the wrong ones I could always take them back and try again.
What transmission did you do this on? Mine looks almost identical to what you have done except a few differences. Both my tubes are single piece with all crimps. Your has a slip on fitting at the oil cooler and the lines look like slight differences in bends. It was excellent you show picture of the replacement part numbers. But, i'm having a heck of a time being certain of the part numbers.
The transmission is a 4R70W (code u found on the door jamb sticker). I ordered from the local Ford Dealership and it was still difficult to match these lines. I swallowed hard and ordered them, knowing that if they didn't fit I could take them back. The replacements are not identical to the originals in every bend but still they fit well. Good luck and I hope this helps.
I don't know but I had quite a time ordering the correct lines from my local Ford dealer. There are several configurations based on transmission type and presence of an oil cooler. If your year and model are different that could be a factor too.

You sir deserve an Oscar. The only detailed video I could find!! Much appreciated. May I ask where you bought the lines?
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback. I bought OEM directly from a Ford dealership.
Thank you! This is my repair.
ok ill fix the trans lines and then the ac lines. Thank you
Upper radiator line connected. Three more connections left.
My f150 is sitting in the backyard with all the trans fluid leaked out of it...rusty coolant lines....wish I had your skills.
Great job . SAVE YOURSELF GRIEF buy a cordless rachet . Also use a dremel with a cut off wheel ..
Nice job .Good info ..

It might be worth a try although I do wonder if it might be as frustrating as changing the line. I'm thinking 3/8" ID hose but that's just a guess.

Before reinstalling the Bushings on the Transmission, did you have to put teflon tape or anything else on the threads?
I did not put anything on the threads.
Do you have to drain all the coolant?

There was one line that was in decent shape and I I left it in. I believe that is the one you're talking ab
Anyone know if you can just splice pieces of it with compression fittings?
That's what I'm going to do on my 2001... Dealer says no longer available

I'm having trouble identifying the right lower trans - oil cooling line there's to versions for my truck 🤷♂️

Where did you buy those parts from? 🙏🙏
For these I went Ford dealership. Mainly because they are easier to return if wrong.
@@TheOriginalMechanic thank you!
What is the metal line next to the ones you cut used for? It appears to be going straight down uncapped.
I think you're referring to the differential vent used to remove moisture from the rear axle and differential.
I appreciate you replying to the question in the comment section. Thank you.
Im having a problem with my transmission not pulling. after about 10-15 minutes of driving it acts like it nurtrals out. Does anybody have any ideas?
How much was the cost to buy these lines?
I had to check the video. I try to include details like that. 7:28 and 12:37
I need to replace the 3rd line too. You know the Part number?
I do not have that number
Thanks
Why do both my lines all have steel i see no rubber hoses connected.
