When I met my husband many many moons ago, he had to pass two tests. Out of the blue I looked at him and asked, "Casey or Kildare?" He didn't even have to think about it. "Casey," he said. "Addams Family or Munsters?" "Addams Family." He was in.
A couple of years after this The Dick Powell Show started showing different actors in different plays. I was babysitting at the time and saw a marvelous one called the Price of Tomatoes. I fell madly in love with the star of that show and followed his career for years afterwards. Anytime I saw his name whether in a movie or a TV series that failed I made sure I watched it. It wasn't until he landed the lead role in a great series that he really found the fame and fortune he deserved. And I was so happy for him. But I will never forget the night I saw Peter Falk for the first time on TV.
I was born in Dec. 1961 and boy do I miss some of these titles. and others I didn't even know existed until now... Thank you for the TV history lesson!
Good old Bonanza,my dad's favourite. Its fun to see what my parents were most likely watching...my brother had made his debut but I was not on thier radar quite yet.....tv seemed so much simpler then because it was I guess.....
I was in 7th grade and like everyone I knew, there was one black and white TV set in the house. There was a great deal of compromise! Great memories, tho!
This was 5 years before I was born, but it still brings back memories for me! It's wonderful to see the old stars again! Perry Como! I wasn't a big fan of Mitch Miller, but just the mention of his name takes me back to a different time.
This was just before I was born...but I'd heard of a fair number of the programs (BONANZA and THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF COLOR, later THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY, were still going on in the late 60s when I became aware of TV). Would've liked to have seen some of these...
A shame the 87th Precinct series came out in '62. The books didn't start to get good 'til the 70's. (Assuming the show's based on Ed McBain's body of work, of course....)
2:10-2:45. Season 3 of BONANZA episode of Lee Marvin as Peter Kane. Adams captor that held him prisoner in the desert torturing him and forcing him into hard labor. Episode:The Crucible.
How did time zones affect the schedules (?) I know for a fact that all network programming was finished by 10pm in Denver. Local news was at 10PM and the tonight show at 10:30PM . . .
12:20 "Rock and roll music in the United States is dying!" Maybe, but it's about to get a big boost from England...! Does the full episode of this David Brinkley show exist?
All TV shows should be required to indicate who the main characters are in the introduction. And the credits should be in the beginning, not at the end of the show.
It looks like NBC had westerns on 6 out of 7 nights. ruclips.net/video/-p0-K3yezKg/видео.html I never heard of "Outlaws" before. But it looks like it was a western ? It's interesting to see so many shows still being filmed in black & white.
i fared a lot better on this one than the episode about the 90's. I can safely say that I watched all of the westerns and most of the cop shows. The one thing I absolutely cannot remember is rock and roll dying.
"''NATIONAL VELVET' is brought to you by----- GENERAL MILLS, home of BETTY CROCKER cake mixes, and GOLD MEDAL flour!" Other alternate sponsors were- ".....BULOVA, makers of 'ACCUTRON'- 'The World's FIRST Electronic Wrist Timepiece'!" ".....BEECH-NUT! The flavor starts lively, the flavor STAYS lively! BEECH-NUT- BY GUM!"
I think I watched "The Wonderful World of Color" on a black and white TV.
LOl! Yes, I remember growing up in the 70s, my parents and I still had the black and white television!
When I met my husband many many moons ago, he had to pass two tests. Out of the blue I looked at him and asked, "Casey or Kildare?" He didn't even have to think about it. "Casey," he said. "Addams Family or Munsters?" "Addams Family." He was in.
I was 6yrs old. Still remember Car 54 and others.
thebes 1 I was eight. I remember Toody saying, "Oo! Oo!"
I was about that as well. Kids sang the car 54 song.
apparently someone got off our couch after Ed Sullivan on CBS to manually turn to NBC for Bonanza.
Fred Gwynn was such a great actor!
Unfortunately, I was only four years old back in the winter of 1961-62. But I do remember some of these shows.

Falk earned an Emmy for his performance.
The script of that episode was a reading assignment in one of my college courses in the mid-'70s.
I was 60 in 1962. My wife and I and our 3 children love to watch the reruns. Our son 10 and daughters 8 and 5 love Bonanza.
"Rock and roll is dying"
Yeah about that David...
Pre-Beatles, it might as well have been...
Would love to see that entire show.
I was born in Dec. 1961 and boy do I miss some of these titles. and others I didn't even know existed until now... Thank you for the TV history lesson!
Great bunch of clips ! Enjoyed them very much. Thanks.
Very cool. Thanks for the upload.

This is a fantastic collection of clips!

Man, you really knock yourself out on these! Thanks so much!
I love your hard work !!!! Thanks for the videos
The Bullwinkle theme is pure magic.
A shame the 87th Precinct series came out in '62. The books didn't start to get good 'til the 70's. (Assuming the show's based on Ed McBain's body of work, of course....)
It is. Robert Lansing plays Steve Carella, Gena Rowlands his wife Teddy (she's deaf), Norman Fell plays Meyer Meyer, and I forget the others.
2:10-2:45. Season 3 of BONANZA episode of Lee Marvin as Peter Kane. Adams captor that held him prisoner in the desert torturing him and forcing him into hard labor. Episode:The Crucible.
Bonanza still had Adam.
Surprise! The Price is Right with a TIDE commercial--instead of Wisk!!!

Quite a variety of shows. Not like the garbage of today.
Especially the Du Pont Show Of The Week.
I think the Price is right was in color on NBC by 1962.
It was in color as early as 1959.
"The Saint Michael Show. Starring Saint Michael!" Hee, hee!
Aside from Bonanza and Hitchcock Presents reruns, I've seen none of these. Way before my time.
12:20 "Rock and roll music in the United States is dying!" Maybe, but it's about to get a big boost from England...!
Does the full episode of this David Brinkley show exist?
Dr. Kildare: "Never mind that child. You've got the Overacting Virus!"
I can't remember the name of that actress, but she was on TV off and on, always overacting. Lol.
Joanne Linville. She was featured on many TV series, including "THE TWILIGHT ZONE" and 'STAR TREK".
@@fromthesidelines
Which Twilight Zone was she on ?
"The Passersby"- the one where Union and Confederate soldiers are trudging along the same road after the Civil War.......because they're dead.

@Bill Zardus: Where do you get these wonderfully unjustified "shoulds" from (?)
It looks like NBC had westerns on 6 out of 7 nights.

Bobby Buntrock skipping forward then skipping backwards the same way he skipped forward.Whats with that!

SOOOOOOO . . . rock 'n roll is *_dying_* - eh? Too bad we can't watch THAT show.
What Were National Velvet's Primary Sponsors. Please Upload Revue-Universal TV Series 1950's To 1990's.

What Were The Joey Bishop Show's Primary Sponsors Then. Please Name Them.
What Were The Bullwinkle Show's Sponsors.
What Were Wagon Train's Primary Sponsors.
In the 1961-'62 season, Joey was sponsored by American Tobacco [Pall Mall], alternating with Procter & Gamble.
8:11 Dick Powell borrowed the second version of the Rickard Diamond theme, I think.
If you're big on suspense, there's Thriller & Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
Both fine Universal TV productions. 😨
these shows were better than today theirs a lot of junk on tv now
We sure could use another Sing Along with Mitch...🤭
Fall 1995
I wonder if network television will last another twenty years as baby boomers start dying off.
Ray Walston & Bruce Gordon in a Western? And just who in the blue hell was "Bill Doolin"? 🤨
