Great video! Other than wanting some closeups on things like testing the heating element and the removal of that fan coupler with the lock would have been nice. But you saved me hundred of bucks man! Much appreciated.
I think you did a fantastic job! Thank you I learned what I needed to know. The concept of open and closed circuits, however basic, is not understood by a layman.
I have what I'd assume to be the exact same dryer, Roper model RED4640YQ0, died a few months ago. Actually just replaced every part BUT the timer for $20 bought on Amazon, and ofc it didn't work. Timer costs $68 on Amazon, don't have much choice but to try and hope for the best but I couldn't for the life of me unplug that smaller plug on top of the timer. Gonna try again tomorrow, but thx to you for making this video bc for all the help google is nobody else knew the timer was even a problem.
Awesome vid, was able to get to and diagnose my issue! And much props to my appliance store clerk who helped me check these parts in a similar fashion, I said he needed a tip jar, $36 dollar fix to no heat all of a sudden. Was almost about to buy a whole new USED dryer again lol
Sir you are a Saint, thank you for showing me what I was missing. I changed and check all the fuses and nothing. Spins and all fuses are good. But I didn't know the timer would affect this. So ordered mine through Ebay. I checked the timer like you did as well and CA was not working so I'm pretty sure it's that. Thanks again liked the video 👍.
Appreciate the vid fellow DIY repairman, helped a lot with the same exact issue. Sadly when testing the upper thermostat i pulled the terminal off and with no solder I'm sure I'll order that and the timer. Hest coils check out fine as well as the lowet thermostat and thermal fuse, as well as the exhaust temp sensor. Where did you order the parts from, ebay, amazon?
I realize video is 2 years old but ihave same dryer same problem. That part number brings up many compatible parts with a different number. I guess im fine with that but none of them indicate if they to come with that other tiny part he didn't use. My lint exit was clogged so i want to change that aswell , just incase.
@@fixitdad9669I refuse to give mine away I had to have the thermostat replaced and the gentleman that fixed it said that this is the best dryer ever made. They are a workhorse. Most dryers last only as long as the warranty.
@@fixitdad9669 I watched it again and you TOTALLY did, I had an old man duh moment. Thanks for sharing that, that made me brave enough to tear in to my dryer. Same dryer, same issue.

Thanks for the help boss!!!
The model number is inside the door area
Thank you! I was just wondering where to find the model number!
8:09 what model dryer is this? I have a ROPER EL 4030VWO Dryer
Not sure of model number. I gave this dryer away.
@@fixitdad9669 ok, thank you sir.

@@debbiebuxton2854I gave it to my dad and is still working fine!
What model dryer is this that you fixed? Great video!
Hey I have thevsame timer im replacing what wire to to which prongs ?
I have a dryer where it will not do the cool down setting, will this be a timer issue or any other?
Won't shut off heat? Sounds like stuck contacts inside that selector/timer.
What if it’s heating but it takes 2-4 times depending on the load to dry the clothes?
I would say that you may have a bad heating element. Check for continuity between elements.
Same here
Did the new timer fix it? I have the same dryer and found the same thing as you.
Yes
Thanks brother
No problem
cant see where you're placing the meter prods
or what setting the meters supposed to be on, i bought all new parts and my dryer still wont heat
Not sure 🤔. Have you traced out the wiring schematic and checked all the safeties? Does your heating element have continuity?
i have an analog meter , you're not showing what byou set it at or if the dryer is plugged in.
I was using continuity test with tone indicator and unit was unplugged.
Was the dryer turning on or was just not heating
Dryer would come on and spin but the heating element wouldn’t come on to dry the clothes.
Same here.. I changed and check all the fuses and nothing.
I wish you had shown your check on the heating element
Didn’t I show it had continuity?
@@fixitdad9669 I watched it again and you TOTALLY did, I had an old man duh moment. Thanks for sharing that, that made me brave enough to tear in to my dryer. Same dryer, same issue.
Where did you find your part?
Google part number off the one from my dryer.
You can find it on amazon, just like he said type the numbers and it will show up.. its around $50-65.... Ebay as well has them.
Silver wire
Orange wire
Brown wire
Blue wire
Black wire
Cherry dark wire
Please help
Just plug in the same way it came off. Look for a wiring diagram on your machine in back panel.
The first safety you checked is open on my machine, is it a simple part replacement? Ty.
It seems to be easy enough.
I'm glad I stopped on this video thank you
Ummm, model # is inside the door on the front. I had to stop watching the video for that reason alone...
