I had an occlusion. I didn’t know what it was at the time. The swelling and brusing alarmed me (had previously had my lips done) so I sent a photo via the clinics IG. it was after hours and they hadn’t given me any instructions on how to contact them after hours. No response, I went to bed. The next morning they responded about 8.30am and asked me to show them the inside of my lip and then asked me to come in as it looked like I was at “risk of bruising and swelling”. What ever that meant.. I did what they recommended and they put some dissolving agent in one side of my lower lip and advised they would fill it back up a week later. It seems (I now know) that my tissue had died. So when they put filler back in, that area became hard and protruded outwards and hung heavy. Of course I contacted the clinic, but they just ignored my IG messages and I also could t seem to get through to anyone at the clinic. Perhaps caller ID and they just wouldn’t answer. It’s been a rocky road trying to fix my lips and not knowing what happened to me until I saw other Injectors and showed them my photos and they advised it was a vascular occlusion.

So true! Reassuring your self as a clinician...you need to ask the scary questions.... “ sensitive” patients need a thorough assessment ...just as the stoic patients need to be assessed...such good points...this is about ethics and not about your experience..if you drive a car often enough....you will have accident ...be humble.

Thank you April for your comment. I’m not sure that this episode would have been caused by your dermal filler that was done a whole week prior.
Any allergic response usually occurs within minutes to hours after a treatment
      Kind regards Mary.
It would be advisable to visit your GP to rule out any medical concerns if you are worried. Kind regards Mary. Clinical advisor for Dr Tim

@@DrTimPearce thank you I think it’s a pill I bought on Amazon for eyesight. The copper must have effected me. Made me itch face flush stomach pain dizziness headache. Now I’m just having nerve pain I must have irritated my trigeneral neuralgia I got from microneedling radio frequency around my eye. I think the chin filler made my neuralgia worse

@@aprilcloyce7426 If you are run down with either a virus effecting your throat / recent vaccine your dermal filler can be sore. Without any other signs of infection such as heat, redness its unlikely to be infection. When you are feeling better you’ll often find that your filler will settle too.
Medications bought online are very risky and this is something we would never recommend.
If you have any concern regarding your treatment it’s highly advised to return to your practitioner. We can’t diagnose anything online. Someone needs to see you face to face to accurately assess you.
Kind regards Mary. Clinical advisor for Dr Tim.

Thank you for the lovely video
About capillary refill if the patient had a large bruise/ hematoma wouldn't that mask it
I had a patient once that came back with a huge bruise on the lower lip i couldn't see any capillary refill but there was no pain at all and no blanching, i preformed a brick test with a needle had a bit of blood flow and the patient who knew the risks refused to dissolve as she was traveling and had no time against my advice and me explaining the consequences
Then it turned out to be only a bruise but I had the worst week of my career life communicating with patient every day and thinking about it all the time it was nerve wracking for me
How can you tell really if it's a vo or a hematoma

Thank you- clinician/patient dynamics are a powerful part of the process, overlooked by many who think it's all about the injection.

I am not a clinician but find your content very informative and interesting. Having done lip filler and smokers lines myself, I never realised how lucky I am not doing harm to myself. RUclips videos showing self-treatment techniques should be banned frankly. I thought I was being clever and saving myself £200 a treatment but the dangers of outweigh the savings. Thank you for bringing me awareness Dr Pearce. You both do a magnificent job educating us. Keep up the great work. Which you had a treatment area in Bristol, UK.
