Barblock is my favorite unorthodox build because it's somehow perfectly flavorful while still being very formidable in combat, because your rage could easily be a side effect of your pact, maybe your pact being a curse?

Ooooh, I like that. Nice touch.

I’m playing with a shifter/Archfey/ beast barbarian concept to lean into the cursed by the fey vibe. Not optimized, but fun.

I’m a Genie Warlock-Barbarian. Campaign started at level 5 (3lock/2barb). First Combat, I did 30 damage to a Chimera without attacking it thanks to Armor of Agathys. 2nd combat started with a 27 damage off a crit from Reckless. It’s amazing.

this is my first pick for our ( now postponed) campaign.i want to go drow barbarian/warlock.-maybe going to lvl5 bar and 10 warlock... my idea was going totem of the spider! (or bear).thinking like you , im looking at utility spells and few attack spells. a pet imp would be cool as well. thanks for the follow up video and experience with this build!!!

Thank you, because I'm playing a hexblade warlock who has a prosthetic Warforged arm he got from a fallen comrade, and since he was a barbarian, I figured I'd take some classes to honor him. My character is somewhat viking theme, so berserker, or ancestor is what im thinking of going

Bit of a theory craft build, but what if you were to take that same build and instead of Fiend, you went with Undead?
You'd get Form of Dread, which you could potentially use with Rage as 1, it's not a spell and 2, doesn't require Concentration. Form of Dread grants you 1d10+warlock level temp HP, Immunity to Fear effects, and once per turn, when you hit someone with an attack, they make a Wisdom Save or be Frightened of you till the end of your next turn. Throw in the Sentinel Feat to stop them from actually fleeing.
Then you get Grave Touched, allowing you to turn one of your hits into Necrotic Damage. On top of that, if in your Form of Dread, you can add an extra die of necrotic damage. Imagine that with a Greataxe, dealing 2d12 necrotic damage, plus Strength Mod and Rage bonus.
Lastly, (since you took at least 11 Warlock Levels)m you get Necrotic Husk. Granting Resistance to Necrotic damage and Immunity to it in Form of Dread. Also, if dropped to 0HP you can instead drop to 1HP and unleash a 30ft necrotic blast all around you dealing 2d10+Warlock Levels in Necrotic damage.
Now, I have yet to play Decent to Avernus, so not sure if you face any undead or other creatures resistant to Necrotic, but think this could be a pretty powerful build. Plus with some bonus spells that can last quite a while without Concentration like Phantom Steed (become a mounted Death Knight), False Life and Death Ward.

Undead and Genie are both really solid picks actually. I went with Fiend because that was how I'd envisioned my character, but Form of Dread is awesome. Great suggestion.

Lol what the hell im going to play an Undead Warlock/ Ancestral Guardian Barbarian for my Descend into Avernus adventure which starts in january. Have you played it yet since some time has passed? And if so how did it work?
I was pretty lucky with the rolls for my stats and can start with a really high STR and CON and as we just have casters in our group (Bard, Sorcerer, Wizard) i figured this could be a really nice melee tank.

@@yasch3696 Sadly, not yet. Though the Ancestral Guardian sounds like a great thematic addition. Perhaps reflavor the ancestral spirits as instead being souls of slain foes that you and/or your undead patron have enslaved into your service.

@@aarons.8161 Im actually gonna flacour it the other way around. Im going for a "Spirits" theme as i dont like the "big bad patron" trope. My patron is gonna be an ancestor that once had a mission in the hells. Through visions and dreams the spirit wants me to go to Baldurs Gate and after that to the hells to complete this mission which they couldnt. Gonna be interesting what my DM does with this info.
Gonna reflavour the Form of Dread into a Form of the Ancestor as a oversized dark shadow-armor my ancestor wore and rage is gonna be like a little Susanoo, which im gonna describe like a bluish 2nd skin formed like my ancestor around my body looking like my ancestor. Rage + Form of Dread will just be me tranforming into the ancestor which was a mighty elven knight.

nice unorthodox build. would definitely just do a barb dip for 2 levels then go straight up warlock for quicker access to thirsting blade, eldritch smite and higher pact slots.
