I 100% agree. Flavor win, mechanical fail.

Hello again Innkeeper! I love your videos. You make me want to play Call of Cthulhu again.

A CoS druid is good bodyguard for more squishy spellcasters. I gave mine Polearm Master and she was pretty good at finishing off characters already wounded and backing up martials. I just had to be VERY strategic with her.

One key feature that gives this class a bite a spice is giving druids access to gaseous form. It sycronizes pretty well since all those special abilities work in gaseous for. Yeah some of the abilities are crap but you wouldn't use them outside the necessary situations. I can think of some really nasty things to do with this that can fit into any game. But it begins to become a one trick pony if you take that route. Kinda similar to eldritch blast warlock.

Ray of Frost has the movement speed debuff, Chill Touch prevents healing until the casters next turn. Also gives undead targets disadvantage against the caster. I'd try the Spore Druid, never looked into it this deeply.

5 levels of gloom stalker or 5 levels of beast barbarian and this looks way better

i'd probably like this subclass a bit more if animate dead wasn't banned at my table. to be fair though druids is probably my least favorite class.
