Gotta add that high carb high sugar diets, ESPECIALLY in combination with frequent coffee or alcohol, as is our wonderful custom in America, you become depleted in B1 (thiamine). BeriBeri is ignorantly assumed by arrogant doctors to be extinct in developed countries... Cuz we're so sophisticated i guess. But also dry beriberi presenting as neuropathy because diabetics are 76% lower in B1 and their kidneys excrete it 16x faster as well. Don't forget about Shoshin beriberi which is GI issues including GERD symptoms and gastroparesis
Well jeez, that sounded like you know what the heck you’re talking about. Please do continue. I’ve stopped sugar and carbs almost all together. The alcohol and coffee, I guess, from what you’re saying is also a big problem.
Dr. Shawn Baker who literally wrote the book, "The Carnivore Diet says in one of his videos that his A1C is 6.4 and he's been carnivore for about 8 years. I think the range that's supposed to be good was based on people who aren't eating the carnivore diet. Mine hasn't changed and almost 2 years at 5.9 even though I've been doing Keto and then switched to Carnivore 10 months ago.
I saw an interview with 2 carnivore docs saying if you have longer living red blood cells, your H1ac will be higher, but not to be concerned if your triglycerides and HDL is good. This happened to me as I get to be more carnivore over time.
But MY A1C since Carnivore (440 days) went from 5.1 b4 Carnivore to 5.5 at 3 & 11 mos Carnivore! I'm 98 lbs 5'4" 68 yrs old, and HDL 84 Trigs 54, and other markers are great. I feel outstanding, but according to your short, I might be pre diabetic WHAT??? 😵💫
Longer living red blood cells( from a healthy diet like carnivore...?) Will show higher H1ac, but not to fear if your triglycerides and Hdl is stellar. This happened to me as I got more carnivore over time. Means you are healthier!
@juliebutler8241 exactly and that's why when the good doctor said what he said..... I'm ....WAIT a minute here! My red blood cells are living longer, my man!
Your body need time to adapt to fat, I guess your pancreas kick glucagon and force liver to produce sugar because you was very long dependent on carb burning energy. Eat meat and fat and your body will adjust. This is my opinion on situation you have but I may be wrong ofc :)
My A1C is at a 5.7. I don’t eat ANY processed foods. I eat meat, dairy and fruit. I do 48 hr fasting once a month. I think the problem was I traded in one form of sugar with another in ADDITION to overconsumption of animal proteins (gluco neo genesis). I either need to be more active like HIIT and weights (to utilize the energy from glucose and utilize the protein for tissue growth) or reduce carbs/proteins and increase fat consumption. Is my logic on the right track or am I missing something? 😮
Yes, they have these ranges designed to keep us believing we are fine, but in reality they are grooming us for chronic, autoimmune degeneration for Big Pharma profit. Just start fasting 2 days per week and get to 5.2 A1C.
If you are bang on with your food ala high in good fat low in oxalates low in carbohydrates the body is adept at healing itself if the gut is fed correctly.
Hi doc I’ve been carnivore for 3.5 months As the day goes by my sugar level goes down to between 4.5 and 5. But every morning it is around 8.5 to 9. I live on steak and eggs. Home made sausages and eggs and mince and eggs. I do have a little milk in my coffee. Can that be the problem ???
When sugar attaches to the red blood cells, shouln't it be called "glycation?". (ie, a non- enzymatic reaction). 'Glycosylation', on the other hand is an enzyme-mediated reaction- yes?
I eat 300 grams of carbohydrates daily, and my Hba1c is less than 4%. My fasting glucose is 70 mg/dl, and OGTT doesn't go beyond 140 mg/dl. Blood glucose going up after a meal means nothing. Keep yourself more insulin sensitive by keeping yourself lean, physically active, and eating fiber-rich foods. Low-carb is good for losing weight, for lifestyle is horrible for most people
