Yeah when I sat down and watched this movie for the first time with friends we knew it wasn't gonna be good but decided to watch for ironic enjoyment. We were getting through it pretty good until they cut out like half of Be Prepared. After that NONE of us could enjoy the film, not even ironically. Truthfully I'm still kinda mad about it.
The fact that the 2019 Lion King movie is worse than Joshua And The Promise Lands shows that an individual can make a better movie compared to a multi-billion dollar corporation.
Joshua and the Promised Land has artistic merit, the lion king remake is... not really. Nobody was passionate about making it or wanting to convey some particular message, since it's story beats and shot compositions are mostly ripped from the original. It's just a cynical move for nostalgia money. Maybe as a metacommentary on the entertainment industry or capitalism in general.

'How to Ratatwang Your Panda', an intentional parody of both Panda Fighter and Ratatoing, the latter film actually got Video Brinquedo sued in 2007 for cashing in on Pixar's Ratatouille. The company have long since gone bust now.
@@amandalynn4979 i’m brazilian and i found out these days a cartoon i really enjoyed when i was little was actually made by video brinquedo, i was literally so shocked cause it was just a harmless miniseries and even though the animation is simple and probably cheap, it was so cute and just- not hideous. i think the company wasn’t necessarily founded to make rip offs but it just ended up happening, idk their whole existence is just funny to me😭😭😭
Let's be honest, even in person, James Earl Jones is seems tired of everything and everyone. It's normal to see him in my old hometown every once in awhile. He's lovely man, but he wants to just be left alone.
one of my parents friends used to have nothing but animated rip-offs... A few of the "Goodtimes" ones are watchable if you are young enough (under 9 or so) the best I can think of is sleeping beauty... but the rest are just AWFUL.

The original lion king is my favorite movie. So when I heard about the "live action" remake I was fairly excited. I thought it would be cool to see it reimagined and the movement and models of the characters are really good. But yea, the pacing, the voice acting, the way they replaced a beloved song(I understand why but then why not reimagine the song as well and give us something to new to love??) With chanting, and the lack of emotion. It was definitely a cash grab rather than something that in my opinion, had the potential to be really fun. I know people like to use the argument that the realistic models were the downfall because you can't get them to emote, but I disagree. Animals can be very visible in their emotions. They have strong body language. Not to mention, it's an animated movie. They could have taken the real life body language of the animals and exaggerated it to be more readable. Or even just personified their physical reactions more. What we ended up with models that didn't even emote as an actual animal would. They're static, and it was upsetting to watch.
Honestly, I don't think Lion King deserves to be on this list. It's not as great as the original (that's a given), but it's not as bad as you say. Compared to the other stinkers I've seen, they've given a genuine effort on that movie.
I literally laughed at the death of Mufasa in the remake. Just the flat “Scar. Help me.” And the fact that Scar punches him was all very amusing in a frustrating way.
Oh thank goodness, I laughed out loud at that terribly done lion roar face with that flat scream edited over it and my friend got mad at me but it was just so ridiculous

The Sharknado sequels are what made me realise there's no such thing as a "so bad it's good" movie. What makes a "good bad movie" good isn't the badness that does an underflow of quality, it's the sheer stupidity and how much it commits to it. Basically, a really stupid movie will generally be entertaining so long as they really earnestly commit to the stupid regardless of whether or not they actually realise it's stupid, while a deliberately bad movie will always just be plain bad because they're missing the point of what makes these dumb movies fun in the first place.
To put it another way, Good Bad is entertaining in some way, being ridiculous, ironically interesting or memeworthy. The Room fits all these criteria. Bad Bad can either be boring, like Acela, or annoying, like Dingo Pictures.
When I looked at "Legend of Agela", the first thing I thought of was "wow, it looks like Giant Realistic Flying Tiger's fallen on hard-times ever since Uncle Grandpa was cancelled..."
“spiders web, a pigs tale” had unlocked some unholy forgot memories because my mom got that movie in a 2 in one DVD case, where one dvd was strawberry shortcake, and the other was spiders web, which I watched way too much, and would’ve probably been better off watching strawberry shortcake with my mom. If anything, IMO that seems like it would hurt the hype. because even if it looks "realistic", most people are probably going to get that dissonance of "but wait, that can't possibly be real life". They're calling it something and you're probably going to feel lied to, even if you can't put your finger on why, even if you reasonably know it's not actually live- that issue is conjured by the marketing. I could see using nature footage that kind of sort of looks like something you could put lion king esq voice lines over and edit it into a movie, (it wouldn't be great but it would be more "live action") but that's not what they did either, the animals are animated.
Or a Nature Mockumentary. Literally, the only way I can watch that thing is thinking of it as a Nature Mockumentary that happens to have Elements of The Lion King in it. I didn't even pay for the DVD. I only got it because it came as part of a Buy 2, Get 1 Free deal. I never would've even paid 5c for it. Free was the only reason I got it and, even then, I *STILL* feel like I got ripped off
Not that hard, actually. People have made stickman art that looks better than Dingo. Hyun's Dojo, PuffballsUnited, Newgrounds content, they prove that even simplicity can be appealing, while Dingo just sets the bar low.
It's also worth saying that "Pancada", the name of the panda from "The Little Panda Fighter", is a terrible pun with the word "Panda" (Pancada - ca = Panda, get it?), and not only that, but it actually means "strong hit/punch", in Brazilian Portuguese (it's a Brazilian movie). This movie is pure trash.

why would we hate you for expressing your opinion about the Lion King remake? I didn’t like either. They butchered Be Prepared, one of the best Disney villain songs, and the animals were emotionless. It's unbelievable how emotionless the characters were, and it's not even purely because the style is realistic; real-life nonhuman animals are actually really expressive, and I saw several Twitter posts showing the different expressions of real lions vs how the characters "emoted" in the movie. Real wild animals emote with their entire bodies; their face, posture, ears, etc. In animated form, there's so much potential with that. Chronicles of Narnia's Aslan emoted a million times better than the characters in TLK remake, and he was a realistic lion animated in the early 2000s. The TLK remake didn't even try D'X Also yeah the Mufasa death scene in the remake got an unexpected laugh out of me too lol
I went to see this in cinemas and honestly I thought it was meh. But the whole thing with Be Prepared? I WAS LIVID! That song is by far one of the best Disney villain songs ever and they ruined it. Jeremy Irons would not be amused.

At least with Leo the Lion, like with Spider’s Web: A Pig’s Tale (which is more than I can say about Viacom’s (because both Nickelodeon and Paramount made this, but the former is just too obvious of a mention because it’s always been (especially as of post-2017) one of my easiest targets when it comes to the worst of the worst) 2000s Charlotte’s Web movies that bores me with their DisneyToon sequel (and I only mean the minority of their films because I actually love most of what they made before DI$NEY gave them the (literally) deathly Blue Sky treatment not long ago to both subsidiaries), you can laugh at how bad it is.

That's actually what they were making fun of. They were making fun of Video Brinqedo, a Brazilian company that makes shameless knockoff movies to confuse grandma's at the Dollar store.
'How to Ratatwang Your Panda', an intentional parody of both Panda Fighter and Ratatoing, the latter film actually got Video Brinquedo sued in 2007 for cashing in on Pixar's Ratatouille. The company have long since gone bust now.
@@amandalynn4979 i’m brazilian and i found out these days a cartoon i really enjoyed when i was little was actually made by video brinquedo, i was literally so shocked cause it was just a harmless miniseries and even though the animation is simple and probably cheap, it was so cute and just- not hideous. i think the company wasn’t necessarily founded to make rip offs but it just ended up happening, idk their whole existence is just funny to me😭😭😭

one of my parents friends used to have nothing but animated rip-offs... A few of the "Goodtimes" ones are watchable if you are young enough (under 9 or so) the best I can think of is sleeping beauty... but the rest are just AWFUL.

The original lion king is my favorite movie. So when I heard about the "live action" remake I was fairly excited. I thought it would be cool to see it reimagined and the movement and models of the characters are really good. But yea, the pacing, the voice acting, the way they replaced a beloved song(I understand why but then why not reimagine the song as well and give us something to new to love??) With chanting, and the lack of emotion. It was definitely a cash grab rather than something that in my opinion, had the potential to be really fun. I know people like to use the argument that the realistic models were the downfall because you can't get them to emote, but I disagree. Animals can be very visible in their emotions. They have strong body language. Not to mention, it's an animated movie. They could have taken the real life body language of the animals and exaggerated it to be more readable. Or even just personified their physical reactions more. What we ended up with models that didn't even emote as an actual animal would. They're static, and it was upsetting to watch.
Take Asalan from Narnia. Then Mufasa and Simba from Lion King 2019. 🤦♂️
Honestly, I don't think Lion King deserves to be on this list. It's not as great as the original (that's a given), but it's not as bad as you say. Compared to the other stinkers I've seen, they've given a genuine effort on that movie.

The Sharknado sequels are what made me realise there's no such thing as a "so bad it's good" movie. What makes a "good bad movie" good isn't the badness that does an underflow of quality, it's the sheer stupidity and how much it commits to it. Basically, a really stupid movie will generally be entertaining so long as they really earnestly commit to the stupid regardless of whether or not they actually realise it's stupid, while a deliberately bad movie will always just be plain bad because they're missing the point of what makes these dumb movies fun in the first place.

“spiders web, a pigs tale” had unlocked some unholy forgot memories because my mom got that movie in a 2 in one DVD case, where one dvd was strawberry shortcake, and the other was spiders web, which I watched way too much, and would’ve probably been better off watching strawberry shortcake with my mom. Seeing it now as an adult I now realize how bad it was, but it’s certainly nostalgic for me

Why did they call the lion king remake a live action movie? They should have called it a realistic remake of it.
If anything, IMO that seems like it would hurt the hype. because even if it looks "realistic", most people are probably going to get that dissonance of "but wait, that can't possibly be real life". They're calling it something and you're probably going to feel lied to, even if you can't put your finger on why, even if you reasonably know it's not actually live- that issue is conjured by the marketing.
I could see using nature footage that kind of sort of looks like something you could put lion king esq voice lines over and edit it into a movie, (it wouldn't be great but it would be more "live action") but that's not what they did either, the animals are animated.
That's why I said realistic, it looks real, but it's not.
Or a Nature Mockumentary.
Literally, the only way I can watch that thing is thinking of it as a Nature Mockumentary that happens to have Elements of The Lion King in it.

Not that hard, actually. People have made stickman art that looks better than Dingo. Hyun's Dojo, PuffballsUnited, Newgrounds content, they prove that even simplicity can be appealing, while Dingo just sets the bar low.
It's also worth saying that "Pancada", the name of the panda from "The Little Panda Fighter", is a terrible pun with the word "Panda" (Pancada - ca = Panda, get it?), and not only that, but it actually means "strong hit/punch", in Brazilian Portuguese (it's a Brazilian movie).

I didn’t like either. They butchered Be Prepared, one of the best Disney villain songs, and the animals were emotionless. You don’t feel the emotions of the Mufasa death scene like you do in the OG. The scene in the remake actually made me laugh
It's unbelievable how emotionless the characters were, and it's not even purely because the style is realistic; real-life nonhuman animals are actually really expressive, and I saw several Twitter posts showing the different expressions of real lions vs how the characters "emoted" in the movie. Real wild animals emote with their entire bodies; their face, posture, ears, etc. In animated form, there's so much potential with that. Chronicles of Narnia's Aslan emoted a million times better than the characters in TLK remake, and he was a realistic lion animated in the early 2000s. The TLK remake didn't even try D'X
Also yeah the Mufasa death scene in the remake got an unexpected laugh out of me too lol
