Joshua and the Promised Land has artistic merit, the lion king remake is... not really. The original lion king is my favorite movie. So when I heard about the "live action" remake I was fairly excited. I thought it would be cool to see it reimagined and the movement and models of the characters are really good. But yea, the pacing, the voice acting, the way they replaced a beloved song(I understand why but then why not reimagine the song as well and give us something to new to love??) With chanting, and the lack of emotion. It was definitely a cash grab rather than something that in my opinion, had the potential to be really fun. I know people like to use the argument that the realistic models were the downfall because you can't get them to emote, but I disagree. Animals can be very visible in their emotions. They have strong body language. Not to mention, it's an animated movie. They could have taken the real life body language of the animals and exaggerated it to be more readable. Or even just personified their physical reactions more. What we ended up with models that didn't even emote as an actual animal would. They're static, and it was upsetting to watch.
Take Asalan from Narnia. Then Mufasa and Simba from Lion King 2019. 🤦♂️
Honestly, I don't think Lion King deserves to be on this list. It's not as great as the original (that's a given), but it's not as bad as you say. Compared to the other stinkers I've seen, they've given a genuine effort on that movie.
And to think it could be that if not poor decision of director. Ehh at least you can have satisfation he was fired

The thing with The Lion King is I get why everyone in English-speaking rooms was upset. My besty saw it in English and was upset to the bone because of the bad performance.
But for me who saw the movie in German first, it was just great. They got all old Voice actors in except two (Simba and someone I can't recall atm) and it was so damn nostalgic, you heard out the voice actors had so much joy speaking these characters again. Absolutely amazing. And I will call it official in my ranking higher than the original movie because Disney added music scenes in the new color, new sound version which was so unnecessary in the old movie but you can't find the old cut anymore.
Also despite people calling the hyper-realism emotionless the animal body language was so good.
i think the emotionless, animalistic body language may be another reason Anglophone audiences hated it so much. actual lions are quite expressive. felines have facial-emoting brain structure strikingly similar to humans, and cats are great meme material bc they often pull familiar & exaggerated expressions; so the fact that one of the best animals for audiences to visually empathize/identify with seemed disconnected and apathetic, made the whole film (and viewers) feel the same.
bet even the English version would be tolerable if a lion's capacity for emoting was used to its fullest extent.
(i know i'm over a year late here)
Even without the voice acting, it's just ugly to look at.
Your feelings on Joshua and the promised land are the same feelings I have of Stiff Odds. That's an obscure movie that I only saw someone talk about once, but it's just absolutely hilarious. I really hope it one day gets the cult following that it deserves.

Bad Bad can either be boring, like Acela, or annoying, like Dingo Pictures.
Is it only me or is the donkey Ollie look like he was made in Spore?
Looking back at him, yeah, definitely has Spore-like textures
Omg I knew I wasn't crazy for remembering a weird donkey cartoon. I have been trying to remember for the longest time and then there's Donkey Ollie and I'm like "Oh yeahhhhh". But the bigger question is why my mom had a weird Donkey Ollie dvd XD

27:19 To me this alien looks a horrifying mix between Kermit the Frog and Dame tu Cosita at the same time
5:05 During this scene in the film, my mother and brother started crying in the movie theater, but I just was not feeling it. I ended up pretending to cry, worrying that I was supposed to be upset and that there was something wrong with me for not crying.
When someone tells me about the pre Covid world I feel like a fossil
Same
Well soon, you'll feel like a fossil when someone mentions the Covid world.
Same, it’s as if pre-COVID was ages and ages ago. It’s weird to think that only last year the world wasn’t experiencing a deadly virus.
It has the same effect as 9/11. Things were more simpler back then.
Omg sameee
I literally laughed at the death of Mufasa in the remake. Just the flat “Scar. Help me.” And the fact that Scar punches him was all very amusing in a frustrating way.
Oh thank goodness, I laughed out loud at that terribly done lion roar face with that flat scream edited over it and my friend got mad at me but it was just so ridiculous
Scar is so pathetic in the remake tho, the original was poetic and clever and this one just doesnt work
@@Notamoomin I agree, in the original his presence and voice sounded really sinister and cunning, he felt like a genuine threat to Mufasa, Simba and the rest of the lions. In the remake he looks and sounds like he’s trying too hard to be a “scary” villain
It was simba's "NOOOO" for me. Truly hysterical
16:56 This looks like an ue4 demo made with premade assests by someone who doesnt know anything about animation
IN THE ADVENTURES OF ACELA MOVIE, THE TROLL CHARACTER HAS LITERALLY THE SAME CHARACTER MODEL AS THE FEMALE TROLL FROM “BROTHERS: A TALE OF TWO SONS” VIDEO GAME. THE FACT THAT THEY JUST TOOK A RANDOM TROLL MODEL STRAIGHT FROM A VIDEO GAME INTO THEIR MOVIE REALLY SHOWS HOW MUCH TIME AND EFFORT THEY PUT INTO THEIR FILM
I just realized that the troll land models aren’t even on the background, but a picture of the background 🤦🏽
Bruh it looks like a failed green screen
It looks like they made it with a Kinect camera lmao
When troll land is at number 4 its about to get real
Get real 🐱
14:09 this scene of the little shit wounded and dying was honestly my favourite part
Hey Saberspark! Great video. My friend and I attempted to watch Trolland and we just couldn't do it. It was funny for the first ten minutes and then it just became painful. We made it through Foodfight but couldn't get through Trolland. It was that bad.
@Yunn Myat Nay Lwin Thanks! My advice is to avoid Trolland if you value your sanity
Last movie's moral: Weed is good. Smoke it every day.
All weed does is make ya stupid
@@minaashido5678 Exactly
Smoke weed everyday
@@minaashido5678 It frees you from this shitty world.
@@HarshDude126 not really. It distracts you from it but you aren’t “free” from it
27:18 evaluation of the dancing alien meme
Thank you
I have to comment, this seems to be the best episode you put up, Saberspark. I started watching your videos in Mid 2019 when I caught the Dingo Pictures kerfuffle with Animal Soccer World and I was hooked. All of the episodes you done have been very funny but cringeworthy to people who think the animated stuff they put up is full of crud. And all of that music...oh, damn, so chilling, I want the tracks. Big one I sat through is Joshua and the Promised Land...uhf, nasty bad. But who knows?
"This is my most controversial take, people will be mad at me for this one. The Lion King reboot"- Saber
Me- "People liked that movie?"
Yeah, my sisters watched that movie 5 times in one week.
@@woerm What the absolutely fuck???
There's actually a lot of people who do it seems
YES I DiD
Quite a lot actually.
Watching Saberspark is basically “oh, you hate the Emoji Movie? It will be a *MASTERPIECE* compared to these!”
And Foodfight, which is often declared the worst animated movie ever, is only on the honorable mentions. Really shows how awful these 10 truly are
I honestly forgot about the Emoji Movie... But yeah, that thing is practically God-tier compared to some of the entries on this list.
I mean, at least it looks professional.
@@wannabehistorian371 compared to these, yes, it’s PIXAR beautiful. But honestly, they kinda just took a yellow circle and slapped a face on it. Pretty lazy design if you ask me. (I guess you can’t do much with emojis…)
If you want to prove he’s just a yellow circle with a face, here’s proof!

@@ari_mitchell yeah I agree but unlike these movie studios Pixar studio IS TALENTED AF that why Disney thought it
