Did you have any issues with the backup camera being triggered when putting it in reverse? I just bought this unit and my prior until it worked perfect now this unit doesn't do anything when putting the vehicle in reverse. Checked everything! Also, I've noticed that the overall screen resolution doesn't look that great. Had a Boss android unit that looked a lot better which is surprising because it was half the price of this one.
I personally have never experienced any issues with the backup camera being triggered. I followed the instructions very carefully when wiring it into my rear tail light. If you already had a backup camera in your vehicle that may be why. Might be wired differently. My vehicle didn’t have a backup camera so I installed one with the pioneer deck
I just bought a new to me vehicle which has this radio in it. I found this video pretty helpful, would have loved to see where and how to dim the screen on this unit. Thank you all the same for the informative video.
@@DullenWoodworkingI just put my dmh1500 in my truck today with a new iPhone 15 I connect the usb c cable to the isb port out to rear and I get nothing nothing comes up on screen nothing says anything about extra steps needed I don’t have a charging indicator either ? Is there something initially in settings on pioneer or phone that need to be done ? I do not have the green parking wire connected to ground yet well that’s because I thought that was only for a video viewing, I wasn’t intending on doing right away. More or less, I can’t figure out what I need to do to get CarPlay to work
@@huero8184 If you don't have a USB port on your truck that's ok. You can still plug your phone into the unit but you'll need a cable that goes from usb to whatever your phone port is. Plug the usb into the back of the unit and be creative with the cable to run it from the back of the deck out to where you want to plug your phone in. You may want a longer cable depending on how far you're going to run it.
I would recommend this for the price range it’s in. If I were to get a newer vehicle I would recommend looking at the newer models pioneer has to offer. I love the idea of wireless AirPlay.
Yeah I’m using steering wheel controls. Before I installed it I did a bunch of research and purchased an interface for my truck off crutchfield so it was relatively easy to install. Still had to solder some wires but not as many as I would have and the interface made the steering wheel controls work as well as some other features
Select the settings gear icon in the top right from your main screen, select the second choice (the wrench icon which is also the system settings) scroll almost all the way down to “dimmer settings” and then you can choose”day/night” if day is selected the screen will be the brightest. If night is selected the screen will be dim! Hope this helps!
I haven't seen a mirror option. CarPlay shows only specific apps on the screen. Music (Spotify), navigation and messages/phone. There is a way to see more apps tho but I haven't really gotten into those.
can you use a splash screen? upload a pic? what about the radio functions can you change the awful looking station selector?

You shouldn’t have to activate it. My iPhone pops up with airplay automatically. Is it a bad cable? Or are you sure its connected to the unit?
Have you had any issues the the system slowing down when using CarPlay and talking on the phone? And issues of the CarPlay freezing periodically?

Mine has really sluggish buggy touch sensitivity to where I'm trying to drive and pounding in the screen can't get a response

How many devices are saved on the unit? Try clearing the memory and then try pairing your phone.
