What about smoking or vaping should you avoid these things before doing ur test, this will be my second time, I waited 8 weeks for them to say they could not pull the sample so now I want to make sure it 100% before I do it
Is water still considered okay to drink? Asking because one of your other videos says not to. Had some water before taking the sample and sending it off.
Hey ochrechap. Apologies for the slight delay in responding during this busy week of research! We understand your concern and are ready to assist you at any stage of this journey. Naturally, safety is a central concern anytime laboratories process biological samples. Our independent laboratory partners follow guidelines, including Biosafety Level-2 precautions, to protect their employees. You may therefore proceed with confidence or equally hold off till a later date if you would be more comfortable (our tests are valid for over a year after purchase). We hope this puts your mind at ease but please let us know if we can ever assist you again. You can learn more on this topic and how to provide a sample using this dedicated guide : support.ancestry.com/s/article/Collecting-a-Saliva-Sample?language=en_US. Best of luck in your future results! 🌳
Hi, Amado. Thanks that is a great question. You certainly can take the DNA test in the morning, but we don't recommend doing it straight our of bed. We recommend brushing your teeth after waking up. Then take a drink of water and wait 30 minutes before you spit into the tube. That will give the best sample. We have an article with instructions. support.ancestry.com/s/article/Collecting-a-Saliva-Sample?language=en_US
My mailing box has no address on it and there are no address stickers in the kit as far as I can see. There is a small barcode on the side. Will it get to it's destination or is there an address I should write on the box?
Hi, Heather. Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry to hear that you haven't seen where to print the shipping label. You should be able to find the link to print a label after you activate the kit. If you can't see it there, there should be a link in your activation confirmation email. If you don't see it there, please send us a private message and we can check into it for you.
Hello Emilio! We regret any concernes and will be happy to assist. If your blue stabilizing solution has been spilled you can contact our customer support team and we can help you. If all your solution was spilled a new test may be required. Please find our chat here: support.ancestry.com/s/contactsupport. Many thanks for taking part in AncestryDNA!
It should only be about $60 depending which test you get I believe the other one is around $90 but you go on Ancestry.com and it should be right on front page
I gave the DNA test to my wife as a Christmas present. When I tried to activate the kit using my Ancestry login name, it required by wife to setup her own username. After this was done it took my wife through a whole bunch of promos to get her to signup for ancestry and do the work I have been doing, and paying for for years. We wanted a simple DNA test with results. We are in out late 70's and do not wish to spend any additional money. Can we keep things simple?
Hi, Robert. Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry for any frustration this may have caused you. We do require each person to activate their own DNA kit for privacy purposes. It sounds like you have an activate account and you're interested in helping your wife with her DNA research. If she'd like you to manage her account, she can share her results with you. We'll send you instructions. After reading this article, please let us know if you have any questions. support.ancestry.com/s/article/Sharing-AncestryDNA-Results?language=en_US
Hi there, Horus! Thanks so much for reaching out with this question. As long as your saliva fills to the line the bubbles can extend past the line. For more info on collecting a sample we'll include a link from our support center here: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Collecting-a-Saliva-Sample
Hi Jamison! Thanks for commenting, we'd be happy to address your query. There is no timeframe for individual steps of the testing process really, but the overall testing timeframe that we provide is a maximum of 6-8 weeks, so if your kit has been processing for any longer than that we would be happy to investigate further. If you need to get in touch with us you can do so via our live chat service here: support.ancestry.com/s/contactsupport/
If the lab is not busy I have seen the results pop up on the website as early as two weeks. Right now it is taking 3 weeks but now there is a $59 sale.
Hi there, Stephen and thanks so much for reaching out we're glad to offer our help. We recommend the follwing: - Start by brushing your teeth and/or use mouthwash to clear your mouth. Then wait 30 - 60 min (not longer) and take the test. - Don’t eat, drink, smoke, chew gum, kiss someone or touch your mouth before providing your saliva sample. - Make sure there is enough saliva in the test tube, it should go up to the line. Avoid too much bubbles. To encourage saliva production you can try gently rubbing your cheeks from the outside (pressing them against your teeth and gums) before spitting into the tube. If you can’t produce enough saliva in one try, refrigerate your tube in an upright position between attempts. You can refrigerate your sample for up to a week before needing to add it to the stabilizing fluid in the saliva tube. For more info: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Collecting-a-Saliva-Sample
Hi Rob, thank you for connecting with us today. We are delighted to know of your interest in our DNA test and are happy to help. If you go over the line, you can just dispose off the excess collected saliva. Attached is an article with instructions too: support.ancestry.com/s/article/Collecting-a-Saliva-Sample?language=en_US. Also, attached is an article that explains the features of our DNA Test: support.ancestry.com/s/article/What-to-Expect-from-AncestryDNA?language=en_US. If you have any other questions, please do get back in touch and we would be happy to assist further. We hope this helps and have a great day!
Hi Jen, thank you for the question. At this time we only offer one collection method. If you can’t produce enough saliva in one try, set your tube upright in a refrigerator and try again later. Saliva can be refrigerated for up to a week before it needs to be added to the stabilizing fluid in the tube. We hope this helps.
04:10 Solid liquid....😂😂

How long would your DNA be preserved if the kit remains unopened?
Um. We overfilled our tunes how compromised are they. We did brush our teeth before hand and waited 40 mins. But my concern is the overfill.
He doesn’t show you how to do the test properly. That’s what I wanted to see. It looks complicated in the box from the heritage place.
Spitting into a tube with an attached funnel was difficult for you?
It seems to me all I'm getting are bubbles. What can I do. ? I watched the video.
Brought this kit 3 years ago & was told I may need to replace it as I have waited to long & chemical agent may be off. Advise please
Is water still considered okay to drink? Asking because one of your other videos says not to. Had some water before taking the sample and sending it off.
I have had trouble trying to register my test.
Thank youb
I don't know how filling the tube up to the black line with saliva can only be half a teaspoon.
Does the harvest to the line have to be in one go or can you generate it from a few salvations.
If u have flu or some oral infection? Can u spit?
I have a cough currently, hence my question.

It tells you on the test how the person is related..
If someone is not able to spit is there another way of doing it? Like swabbing inside of mouth??
