Or to make a case if it was in the timeline, though I realize it's not, Zant had told Link that as long as Ganondorf lived, he would resurrect Zant. That he would be immortal essentially. Being resurrected by him could be the forgiving factor that spawned his loyalty, thinking that his God hadn't truly abandoned him.
