The betta leaf hammocks are designed to be close enough to the surface so that the betta can lay there and stick it’s head up and get air without having to swim much at all while sleeping at night. Try moving the leaf away from the flow and about 1.5” from the surface of the water

I never level my gravel. I scoped it from the very beginning it peaks and ridges in wood and everything before I even had to drop water. I do slope the valleys, so so they all drain toward one area to make cleaning easier. I didn’t lay paper towel over the display and gradually pour my water over the paper towel, which protects the form underneath there as the water comes up I remove the towel .
name for the beta I think should be jessie and something she needs is a heater I know people say they don't but they will live longer eat better. it will help her a lot:] it is just so many people mistreat beta fish they deserve the best don't they?😁
Imma be honest that tank is not a good option bettas prefer a long wide tank rather than a high tank,also I recommend a heater and i really appreciate u listening to your viewers also I dnt recommend flake food you should rather use betta pellets it's 10 times better

Hey griff, I’m sorry tj burst your bubble but Evan though she is small bettas no madder the size, they should have at least 3.5 gallons, if you don’t want to get a bigger tank a better option could be taking that big structure out and replacing it with live plants, also bettas prefer tanks more wide then high, but I know you will make a good decision. (Great video)
Griffin, the size of your fish is not the sole determining factor for the size of your tank. The less water volume, the harder it is to maintain temperature and water quality. A nitrogen spike in a 1 gallon tank is way more deadly than one in a 50 gallon tank. Larger tank please. Add a heater.

Find yourself some magnolia tree and use a dead brown leaf and put it in with both beta tanks , they love the brackage water
leave the beta fish hammock, my fish lovessssss it. took a couple weeks for him to actually use it but once they're comfortable they love it.
