Small Engine Repair (Netflix movie) brought me here. Holy friggin' cow...OUTSTANDING TRACK!! Spot-listened to other songs on "Sound and Fury" - bought the vinyl - I'm officially a fan!
The whole band slaved over this album in the studio. I cant wait to hear it live because its even more different and finer tuned then when they put it down.
My co workers and I listen to this album almost every night at closing time, we drive to and from work to it, its so amazing. Im a metalhead, love rap or any dance music that has a fast heavy pace. This album just FLOWSSSS regardless of any vibe or tone
The guitar sound/style on this song are perfect! The fantastic music seems to come so naturally from this guy. And I believe it. The way Sturgill Simpson performs delivers his truth and that's why the rest works so well. Thank you SS!
Beautiful. It’s like a cross between the sultry voice of Chris Stapleton and the genius of Pink Floyd. The key change makes me see Jesus. Simply beautiful.
The world has just ended. You are walking through an empty wasteland of destruction and debris. You wonder if you are the only one left. You trudge on through the haze and the uncertainty, until you reach the base of a large hill covered in junk and trash. You begin to climb it in hopes that you may be able to look out and see any potential survivors. Struggling as you go, you finally make it to the top. Looking down on the post-apocalyptic world below you, there is not a soul in sight. There is only you, you and the dimly-burning sun sluggishly rising into the sky. The world is yours alone, but at what cost?
Was thinking WYWH and The Wall had a baby. I love that "It Ain't All Flowers" just takes me to "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" and not just through the emotive growl/scream but the pacing, the transformation of just getting the shit out there...
BONGS N BLUNTS I think he’s right. Sounds like silver ladders and that certainly makes more sense in the verse than “several items” which I see most of the time
Can't say this album was my favorite of his right off the bat (thought I'm sure it'll grow on me), but this instantly became one of my favorite songs of his. The guitar remind me very much of John Frusciante
God tbh I never knew he was a country singer but man oh man does this man know how to make a music hit especially being a bit experimental with his sound like its amazing
I agree with many of the comments on here, my favourite track on the album at the moment. I hear Floyd, (Waters & Gilmour) and Frusciante, but also Mike McCready, there's a Mad Season thing going on in there that I can just put my finger on and define at the moment.
My friends dont like this album, my buddie loves sailors guide to earth and my other friends all like high top and metamodern but I love em all. This whole album is just unique and I dig the whole thing. To me Sturgill just doesnt make bad music.
Shits gonna get rough. With the usa destabilized and the bullshit happening with Chinas camps and Hong Kong protesters, it's looking rough. Coronas rampant. Fuckin history repeats itself.
Best advice is, whatever happens, happens. Only take life to serious when the situation demands it, otherwise, learn to relax because the only person who make it harder than it has to be is yourself.
I can’t stop listening. Thank you for making this music, fuck the media and do what you do. We love you and your music. From the samurai chicc to the ducking badass music, please don’t stop doing what you love and we love. Bless your music.
Strong Pink Floyd vibes on this, and it’s fucking awesome. If you guys dig this melody check out The Dear Hunter they’ve got some badass melodies that give you some strong Floyd vibes.

Sturgill said on the Joe Rogan show he "wants to get so high he doesn't even remember what song" he is playing. LOL. And his keyboardist played the recordings with a joint in his mouth most of the time. Sturgil is definitely a toker!l
Most underrated album and song ever
I wish the video was on here, it is easily the most haunting part of the film.
This was the first song i ever heard him sing, This took me mind body and soul in 20 seconds
He's highly addicting sound has me in spellbound ❣
Am I the only one who thinks this is the best song on the album?
To me it is
It is, by far.
A toss up between this and Remember to Breathe for me.
Your not wrong imo
The answer to which song is best on this album is: Y E S
My #1 album of the year! Every song is amazing!
Sturgill is Music Personified
That solo though. At every stage throughout the album I fall in love with a different song. Right now, it's here. I LOVE IT.
Never heard of this guy until I saw "Small Engine Repair" w/jon bernthal, WOW....BAD ASS !!! SO UNDERRATED!!!!
That’s what brought me here 👍🏼
@@jimmywhispers7385 Same here and underrated movie as well.
Lol not underrated. Dude is famous as heck, and this whole concept album is a prime mover on Netflix. Just cause you're new to it doesn't we aren't.
@@BigChutes I'm from up north in New England and I know tons of country music fans that never heard of him
2019 needs an album of truth, this one's honest.
just wait till 2020
@@theswartz4218 life was never the same
I'm glad there are artists like you in this world Mr. Simpson!!!!
All good music does this.
His music makes me tear up so easily. He really puts his heart and soul into his craft
Pollywog made me teary.
The Pink Floyd is strong in this one!
Right on man, I agree...
@Muzaffar Krylov that was way too fuckin accurate!
Yessssss!!
First thing I thought immediately
My first thought when I heard this song today
Small Engine Repair (Netflix movie) brought me here.
Holy friggin' cow...OUTSTANDING TRACK!!
Spot-listened to other songs on "Sound and Fury" - bought the vinyl - I'm officially a fan!
I can't help but her Angie by the Stones at the end. and Pink Floyd at the beginning. and this song is awesome.
I def hear the Pink Floyd too.
You can tell he spent much time making sure every song is complete beginning to end. Dude the intros so far are fire
The whole band slaved over this album in the studio. I cant wait to hear it live because its even more different and finer tuned then when they put it down.
Funnily enough, he wrote the whole album in one or two nights.
@@magisterrleth3129 They said the same thing about his Sailors Guide album. He has to be a true phenom if he comes up with this so quickly.
@@magisterrleth3129 He wrote the lyrics in one or two nights I think. The whole band, mainly sturgill I am sure, wrote the music to fit later.
Id you watch Joe Rogans interview they mention getting stupid stoned and laying the tracks down in one take..
Oh wow!! What a great song! The solo at 02:27 rips me up.
The whole song is fucking epic!
My co workers and I listen to this album almost every night at closing time, we drive to and from work to it, its so amazing.
Im a metalhead, love rap or any dance music that has a fast heavy pace.
This album just FLOWSSSS regardless of any vibe or tone
Love this whole album and the Netflix anime special, was amazing and not the typical style today.
2:23 cue the heart-wrenching wailing guitar solo
Amazing track. Definite 70s era Pink Floyd forces at work here... which is a GOOD thing.
Still the best song he’s ever made to date! ❤️
The guitar sound/style on this song are perfect! The fantastic music seems to come so naturally from this guy. And I believe it. The way Sturgill Simpson performs delivers his truth and that's why the rest works so well. Thank you SS!

Here after Small Engine Repair. Great movie and great song to end it with
This and remember to breath are best songs on the album. Top notch.
Great sound...sturgill could sing the phone book and make it sound great.
His Voice gives me a tingle in the Body. Goosebumps 👌
Beautiful. It’s like a cross between the sultry voice of Chris Stapleton and the genius of Pink Floyd. The key change makes me see Jesus. Simply beautiful.
Underrated music and Netflix title
kentucky fried floyd
Scarily accurate
That's exactly where my mind went. If Pink Floyd were country. I can't believe there's country music I like. 😮
Fantastic is what I call it
@@asheimmortalthis is a pure rock and roll album. 100% through and through. Are you deaf? He even says it himself.

I'm still rocking this album.
love your wild music man!!!!!very 21st century, very soulful.....like i said loooove the movie too!your music transcends time n space....!!!
My favorite album cover ever.
Just amazing. I hear inspiration from Pink Floyd's Animals in the best way.
ryanzurek1 beat me to it
That was my first thought. Very Floydian, but heavier.
Was thinking WYWH and The Wall had a baby. I love that "It Ain't All Flowers" just takes me to "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" and not just through the emotive growl/scream but the pacing, the transformation of just getting the shit out there...
i was watching the netflix show and thinking pink floyd... :)
Listen to the opening track, 'Ronin', and you will expect to start hearing Roger Waters at some point.
Instant classic.
David Gilmour collab with Sturgill would be epic.
Dude, this is David Gilmour, Steve Gaines and Waylon all wrapped up in one. Genius, if you ask me.
Heavy floyd influence on this song...
@@79wilkins That's exactly what I thought when I was listening to it! Obviously I'm not alone. Haha. Best song off the album in my opinion.
I think my life would be complete if that happened.
This is Sturgill Simpson, bro.
I never heard of this animated series, but I gotta say this was very crafty in times like these.
"Handing several ladders out
To anyone who dares
Climb all the way up to the top
Just to get kicked down the stairs"
This line just hits so hard
b1ack c0wboy might wanna do a lyric check honcho
BONGS N BLUNTS I think he’s right. Sounds like silver ladders and that certainly makes more sense in the verse than “several items” which I see most of the time
Kevin Donovan he said several ladders.
oh ya it does for me to
I thought it said silver linings
Top 3 song on this excellent album for me, along with Remember to Breath and Make Art Not Friends.
Yeah, that's a good tune man. Thanks
This album is about 20 hours too short.
oh man you're going to freak out once you start using the ''Play-In-Loop'' Option. lol
Agreed. 🍻
you should check out Sturgill's other albums, especially metamodern sounds in country music. If you haven't heard them already.
I really liked this segment of Sound & Fury, and I really enjoyed the movie as a whole. Very cool stuff.
Lovin This Song!!!! Awesome!!!
This album is just a explosion of music! Really really good man. Ty for not giving a fuck and making what you want
Really strong Pink Floyd vibe with this one
Time especially~
My Fav song on the album.
This is my favorite song of the year

It grows on you fast. Faster the louder you play it.
I felt the same at first. A definite departure from his older sound but man I love this album! After a few listen throughs nothing else will do.
God tbh I never knew he was a country singer but man oh man does this man know how to make a music hit especially being a bit experimental with his sound like its amazing

That 2:47 part of the solo sounds very similar to McCreadys solo on Wake Up
I am happy that the official music video is an image with particle effects.
Go on Netflix and type in Sound and Fury
Hell Yeah!!!!!!!
Sturgill for president!
Hell Yeah!
This song is dumb underrated
WOOOoooOOOoooooo!!!!
great album! the best I've heard since pink Floyd's final cut

Lol. Apparently.
Great song, probably the most tragic music video I've seen in a while.
Idk why but this song really reminds me of the movie Snowpiercer..

Rock on Sturgill🤟🏻
rock on!
He has a beautiful voice and ... OK so this is very cool.... not a country person here..but this is very cool set of songs on this album.
love this album!
Hits home
Exquisite
Future country.
By the time country catches up Sturgill Bowie will be doing something completely different.
A sailors guide to earth will always be no.1 but this album is sounding good too
Metamodern is #1
Why even rank them, let's just enjoy them. 🙏
you spelled "metamodern" wrong
This one reminds me of night in the woods soundtracks. Giving a nostalgic feeling.
That's a good tune
Still listening...
Strong Pink Floyd vibes on this, and it’s fucking awesome. If you guys dig this melody check out The Dear Hunter they’ve got some badass melodies that give you some strong Floyd vibes.
What's with the car horn sound at 0:34 on the left channel?
I get heavy Ween vibes from this tune.

[Verse 1]
Spent the last year going out of my mind
Looking for reasons I could never find
Until I put my finger on it and saw every sign
Take all you can get, keep your fingers off of mine
[Verse 2]
Sitting in the tower without a clue or care
And goodbye opportunities hanging off of my head
Handing several items out to anyone who dares
Climb my own way up to the top just to get kicked down the stairs
[Chorus]
Bein' pulled a million ways all at the same time
It's enough to make anyone go insane
When you find yourself forgetting all your own rhymes
Givin' up on dreams floating 'round inside your brain
[Instrumental]
[Chorus]
Bein' pulled a million ways all at the same time
It's enough to make anyone go insane
When you find yourself forgetting all your own rhymes
Givin' up on the dreams floating 'round inside your brain

Pink Floyd called... they want their drugs back
By far the best song on the Album
I think the dude is sober.
“Drugs are for the audience not for the artist”
-Stanley Kubrick paraphrase
Sturgill doesn’t drink, but he’s not sober sober. Pink Floyd definitely wasn’t blasting off on DMT either🤩
Sturgill said on the Joe Rogan show he "wants to get so high he doesn't even remember what song" he is playing. LOL. And his keyboardist played the recordings with a joint in his mouth most of the time. Sturgil is definitely a toker!l
What the fuck this is so good!
This puts me in the mind of Pink Floyd doing blues / folk music.
PANCAKE! PANCAKE!
Fuck yes!!!!
STURGILL SIMPSON SHOULD NOT BE PUT IN ANY CATEGORY ,ARTIST , GENRE, SOUNDS LIKE , KINDA REMINDS OF,

Why TF is Sturgill not sponsored by Dodge!!?
That 'Cuda is one of a kind... Not even Dodge can tame it but Sturgill did.
