I thought of you today, Mucker, as I tackled a job where I really should have had a hollow ram! I got by today with other improvised things, as I have always done, but I think a hollow ram needs to be added to the toolkit! Nice to see the king-post on the little Kubota had bushes in the parts where the pin doesn’t move, so it can all be returned to new tolerances. Good job well done 👍
@@LordMuck We still occasionally see customers with some of the original greats - mid 1980's mini diggers like the Kubota KH36 or the Pel-Job Eb12 - that are running along nicely.
A thumb for the bucket! 😎 Maybe too much for a small machine, but I think it could come in handy. Excellent work, Kurt and Kim! Definitely right, a tube of grease is way cheaper than having an entire arm replaced, or worse, scrapping your equipment.
The rebuild is coming along nicely, great explanation on the bushing when wear happens. My addition would be a rear camera and screen . For safety when operating. Well done Mucker 👍 🔧 🚜
Great video. Some of our machines at work have a sticker in the window or on the side which says “I need grease to live” and people still don’t grease them 🤣
After watching the likes of LetsDig18 and a few other American excavator/ groundwork channels, the most useful/ versatile thing I’ve put on my Takeuchi TB125 was a thumb. The extra work it can do with it far outweighs the cost. 👍
Awesome. It's nice when you get it in time, before the bush is completely knackered and the tube, which the bush is pushed into, gets knackered, too, requiring welding up and line boring.
I would be lost without my hollow ram mate I even have a low profile one for tight spaces. I used to work on Holmer self propelled sugarbeet harvesters and slurry spreaders and the king pins would need pulling at 700bar and a lot of heat from the gas axe. Then give em a rattle on the side with an air hammer and boom! out she comes. I might have to oder a set of those centering washers though.
I'de put a tilt blade on a small digger with a replicable cutting edge. When i bought my second hand JD 6210 the front axle pivot bush hadn't been greased since Adam was a boy. Bush gone and a lot of steel missing from the axle housing. A mate and I put new trunions and bushes in with quick metal behind the bushes and its worked really well. Done another 1200 hours but and i mean but i grease that thing every 10 hours. Cheers Mucker (i really want to come over and visit the Matadors)
I once had a work scheduled PM to replace pins and bushes on a giant frontend loader that was used 24-7 in a sand pit. When i received the work order, i just knew that it was going to be stuck froze up and wore out pins. To my amazement, hardly any ware and easy work. This machine had an automated lube system and used heavy gear oil. The system ran off of the pneumatic system. This system was by Lincoln, i know there are several other manufacturers. If the pins and bushes have a lube port of any sort, an automated system can be installed. For a small machine like you are working on, it may be cost prohibitive. If the machine is used to clear brush or demolition work, it may be difficult to route hoses to the ports and keep the system intact. I have sense seen these systems used in many applications. I can certanly attest to their effectiveness.
Informative video Kurt👌 as for additional features platform space to allow you to use your feet for tracking, hydraulic angle blade, and a thumb and blade extensions provided as standard to add a bit more stability to the machine 🤔 although the addition of all these might increase slightly the size of the machine 👍
Hi Kurt you & Kim made that look easy up grades auto greasing or at least fitting all the grease nipple's were they can be got at with the boom in one position Quick hitch another small one a spirit level fitted to the cross bar in front of the ROPS I have cable tied one there to help when trying to get a level base Thanks again
As a loyal member of #MuckerArmyUSA, I have been steadily indoctrinating friends and co-workers to use 'bush' instead of bushing as it commonly referred to on this side of the pond. Some look at me incredulously, while most actually just accept it. I go on to explain they've been saying it wrong from the beginning. Really enjoying the progress on that little Kubota, as well as this weeks tire/tyre vidya
another brilliant vid, just got delivery of my U10-5, i knew i had to grease the nipples, but now i know exactly why. Seeing the inner workings of all these parts of machines is so fascinating.
Most machines, your little bagger included would benefit from central grease location to the spots that can be tubed. My old Hanix rides rough - so an air suspension seat would help the operator.
Great stuff M'lod, nice new parts gone in the Kubota👌 my mate just bought a low hour 2012 1.7 ton IHI, went for used brand route aswell and not the chinesium stuff. For the design of the new k008, maybe go for the joysticks on the side of the seat for more operating comfort, might be difficult though seeing the width of the machine. Keep 'em coming! Cheers, Mike
My improvement for the Mini digger would be the deceased that the seat would go further back and the connection and the controls could be adjusted for for more operating comfort. Because I'm a rather tall Feller and I've had and I've had struggles operating operating the machine for longer periods Comfortably.
I have an old Koehring c166 we bought for cheap a long time ago. She was worn out parts of it still are. My cousin is a fabricator so ever few years have him fix a part of it so now from the bucket pins to the bushings into the frame have been replaced. Not sure why but some bushings are still bronze and others are now nylon.
Some trucks I've driven over the years had self greasers could that not be put on more plant jibs dumpers rollers. The plastic piping could follow the electric cables there are spots on the jib so could cover all the pins and bushes. What you recon mucker
The only thing I’d change is put controls like the Bobcat E10, I don’t think it’s the kind of machine you really need to have too many different attachments. Altering the controls would improve an already decent machine though.
good video again mucker i love the oil and grease is cheaper that steal my first boss well when i was a kid he said to me the cheapest mechanic you can pay for is oil and grease keep that in and it will last longer and work right
I'm surprised the by the degree of play in the king post of your machine, given how clean and tidy the machine appears. I also have a 2016 K008-3. It has ~1700 hrs but my machine doesn't look as clean as yours but surprisingly there is minimal play my king post and I don't believe it has been given any new bushes.
Well Mucker That was Brilliant ,Would have nice to see Kim rather than just her hair and her Arm ,while your interesting and the subject matter is great, Kim is so much better looking ,Put Kim in the drivers seat mucker and there ya have it my suggestion 😗
What hollow cylinder do use? Been debating getting one for a long while and giving my air hammer a rest 😂 on the other hand i dont fancy spending 4 figures on a genuine enerpac kit
It is better to refurbish the digger than spend out on a machine where the aftermarket support could be lacking, as you have rightly pointed out a good and known brand will offer parts support for many years after the manufacture of their machine as opposed to someone who is only interested in selling you a machine.
Fair enough I know what you mean I take it I’d get the pump off eBay too does it have be a specific class off pump to match the ram sorry about so many questions it just before I’ve been used to just beating them out
The advantage of worn pins and bushes is the FOC bucket self-levelling feature😊
I thought of you today, Mucker, as I tackled a job where I really should have had a hollow ram! I got by today with other improvised things, as I have always done, but I think a hollow ram needs to be added to the toolkit!
Nice to see the king-post on the little Kubota had bushes in the parts where the pin doesn’t move, so it can all be returned to new tolerances. Good job well done 👍
You could freeze the bushes to get the in a regular freezer works good
With the larger machines we do 👍
Yep, oil & grease are definitely cheaper than steel. New pins and bushings are a lot cheaper than re-welding and line boring too.
Regular maintenance can see a machine go in to tens of thousands of hours running time 👌🏼
@@LordMuck We still occasionally see customers with some of the original greats - mid 1980's mini diggers like the Kubota KH36 or the Pel-Job Eb12 - that are running along nicely.
I really appreciate your serie about the K008 - Thanks a lot 👍
My pleasure!
Nice bit of hollow ram action there.

Great video. Some of our machines at work have a sticker in the window or on the side which says “I need grease to live” and people still don’t grease them 🤣
I worked in a quarry in Victoria and I was the only operator who greased the D8 and the D85. Other plant had auto greasers....
Iv a Komatsu pc27r 19 years now and there is enough wear you can put two pins in the one bush she’s a bad girl this Komatsu 😂
A thumb for the bucket would be very helpful 👍

Great video mucker looks like it will be a good little machine once finished 👍🏻
Nice job on the pins and bushes and great explanation of the damage.

Excellent video I worked for a plant hire company and the k008 is a very good machine i think it needs a auto greecer.
Heated seat for the winter is a must don't really need anything else.
Passenger seat for the border collie
Perfect timing as I need to remove my dipper arm for new seals.
I have no idea… but my first add on, would be a cup holder… and a cup with a sealable lid, for when I flip it…🤣🤣
I'de put a tilt blade on a small digger with a replicable cutting edge.

All our big machinery ran Lincoln systems, it's good stuff
Camso tracks , less track vibration 👍
Nice one, thank you kindly.
I would have the controls mounted to the side like bigger diggers for ease of operation
9:03 ok, that’s given me Goosebumps, that was a case of fingernails down a blackboard lol 😨😨😨😨🙂👍🇬🇧
An nice upgrade would-be an hydrolick quikcopler and an nice wide bucket.
One of the most satisfying jobs I think, nice one. 👍👍🇬🇧
Informative video Kurt👌 as for additional features platform space to allow you to use your feet for tracking, hydraulic angle blade, and a thumb and blade extensions provided as standard to add a bit more stability to the machine 🤔 although the addition of all these might increase slightly the size of the machine 👍
I'd fit a thumb, maybe also a rotating connection for the bucket to make it fully versatile

Great video as always Mucka. Definitely arm rest and control levers like bigger machines for easier control 👍

what model is that bushing installing tool or where can I get that thing?
Go on eBay Wes and type in 'bush removal kit'
Auto lube would be the best addition in my opinion there are people who don’t like getting their hands dirty greasing kit!😂
It doesn't take 2 minutes. The grease gun on this machine was tie-wrapped to the roll bar 😂
As the Cavan man would say when you ask him "does she use oil"....
"She would if she got it"🙄
Excellent video!
Sandwich toaster and espresso maker!
Great video. Enjoyed watching 👍🏼
did the same on a old MCconnell pa44 hedge trimmer / digger about forty years ago . pipes and bracket for grab fork on boom

Add a rat trap in the engine compartment! The blooming rat ate all the sound deadening and wiring on my K008!
Nice one Mucker.
Deffo a grease gun holder - always got it with the machine yhen 👍
Great video 👍👍
Got to be a hydraulic thumb , adds a lot more versatility
Steel wrist tilt and grab mounting as standard
Full aircon and sealed cab.
Enclosed cab with heater lol
Mighty job Kimberly and Kurt, a grease gun holder, just goes to show lube is always very important👌👍🙏🙂
A better seat would be nice on the new Kubota mini-digger.
Good video.
Grease it with pin and bush grease ( molybdenum grease mo2 ) 👍
Awsome video as always mucka
An hydraulic thumb is the best thing to add to any small excavator.👍
good video again mucker i love the oil and grease is cheaper that steal my first boss well when i was a kid he said to me the cheapest mechanic you can pay for is oil and grease keep that in and it will last longer and work right
Hydraulic thumb, don’t know why they aren’t more popular in the Uk
At 8:12, Wes would say that " it fits like a hotdog in a hallway"
Like waving a hot dog in the Holland Tunnel By the way the Holland Tunnel connects NY to NJ, if you wondered
Great video mucker
Hydraulic thumb is always a bonus on any excavator
Hollow ram beats the punch and sledge hammer way to much like hard work
Side shift, like the old J,C,B.
Service for a thumb plus a thumb 👍
Thumbs up. I would put in air conditioning, but then I would need windows.... Never Mind
Hi hydraulic quick hitch stops the bucket flopping around everywhere
Do you have the part numbers for the tools that you used , the hollow Ram, the accessories ETC?
Just Google them, there are various options/sizes etc
a smaller arm for more tighter spaces and a fence post remover

There's never any rhyme nor reason between different machines. Main play was in the main pin not the king post however.
Where did you get that pin press from? Can you hire them? I've got my k008 to do!
Just as cheap and far easier to buy one off EBay 😉
Well Mucker That was Brilliant ,Would have nice to see Kim rather than just her hair and her Arm ,while your interesting and the subject matter is great, Kim is so much better looking ,Put Kim in the drivers seat mucker and there ya have it my suggestion 😗

Had that in the 4CX

👍🏻 make it remote controlled.

If everyone greased stuff poor IC Weld wouldn't have any content for his channel!
A good quick coupler and an auto lube would be a nice upgrade.
Do you have the model number of the hollow Ram you used please thank you
Just go on to EBay and find one that suits
Central lubrication pump.
Beer fridge
if i were designing a new k008 i would put a hydraulic thumb on it for grabbing logs
Just not sure what might be added❓
A LPG power unit.
Hi great video I was just wondering where do I look to purchase one of these hollow rams
Go on ebay
Thanks very much your very helpful cause I’m thinking of doing a over hall on my excavator so thanks for your help
Sorry to annoy you have another question can you use a standard hand hydraulic pump instead of the foot one
Yes that's how we started out, we just found the foot pedal frees up your hands
Fair enough I know what you mean I take it I’d get the pump off eBay too does it have be a specific class off pump to match the ram sorry about so many questions it just before I’ve been used to just beating them out
Hydraulic thumb and a boot scraper to get that clay off
Auto greasing, problem with that, operators even more lazy, not checking any part of the machine
