    Both great, vox is more to my liking though - it has a special character to it and a midrange that makes those axes come to life.

    I love my vox coiled cable. I prefer coiled because they don't get all messy and tangled on the floor and I don't step on them either. I never gave much thought to cables affecting the sound.

    the vox has that attack and clarity. the bullet sounds a bit muffled.

    Do the coils stay in place and never mess up? Or do they sometimes get reversed in the middle of the cable causing a break in the uniform coils along the cable? Back in the day, our home phones had coiled cables and they would get messed up and drive me crazy when the coil changes directions in the middle of the cable.

    • @MrDussek

      coiled guitar cables aren’t made the same as home phone coiled cables. generally coiled guitar cables are more resistant to bending and twisting as opposed to old home phones

      @@SteveCarmichael phone cables were flat, these are rounded. Part of the reason for voxes smaller coils, I think, has got to be tangle resistance. I don’t think I’ve ever tangled one. But then again I don’t store them loose with other cables, and they come with a cable bag.

    Interesting. I used to have a Bullet and was always scared it would pull the guts out of my guitar, it was SOOOOOO heavy. I settled on Lava Retro Coil curly cables and have had one for about ten years and it is still going strong and it looks just like the leads all my heroes used when I started playing back in '69. Curly leads were everywhere in England back then and they all sounded ok but only lasted about 6 months...Hahahahahahaha
    Thanks for taking the time and trouble, and nice playing

      The Vox outlasted the Bullet. I went through TWO bullet cables in just a few months. The company was nice enough to send me a replacement but it failed within weeks. I went back to my old monster cables I’ve used for 10+ years with no issues. I use the Vox at home or if I know I’m playing a really small
      stage.

    I saw a pedal comparison yesterday that I thought was the most fair and accurate side-by-side technique I've ever seen.
    They created a loop of guitar playing, and, without talking between comparisons, switched at the end of each loop, using superimposed titles to identify what was what. I think using the loop was a more fair comparison, since the playing was absolutely identical for each example.
    Having said that, I don't know about the cables, but that Tele rig sounds freakin' amazing; doesn't hurt that you've got some serious chops!

    thanks for taking the time to analyze these--it's helpful to know about the tone. TBH, I wish someone would make a video about the physical benefits of these...the logistical side. Do they still fit in your gig bag. Are they a pain in the a##. When you're standing at your pedal board, does it swing all over, does it hit your shins, does it "wobble." What is the actual length unstretched, etc, is it like having a 10 foot uncoiled? etc.

    • @bcthebigrig1232
      @bcthebigrig1232  5 лет назад +1

    All guitar cables of reasonable lengths "sound" the same, coiled or not... Because science. Electric AND magnetic fields both do not exist outside coax due to shielding and cancellation, respectively. The only difference among different manufacturers is connector durability. Even at an "extreme" case where frequency would be let's say 80GHz and coax would have a 90° bend, radiation would occur inside coax at the bend, but would then be instantly reflected by the shielding back towards the source of a signal. At audio frequencies, you don't get to deal with this, because wavelengths are too long (wavelength@80GHz=3.75mm, wavelength@20kHz=15km!!). Induction and loosing high end at coiled cables are myths. Worrying about capacitances and inductances comes into play, when you are designing RF stuff, but even then you are concerning about impedances only inside coax.

    • @ReddNashe
      @ReddNashe 4 года назад

      This statement is actually completely false. Now if you're talking about cables of the same design? Which 99.9999% of these cables are obviously the same design? You're correct. If you talking about comparing one of these straight into a tube amplifier with a stranded design versus solid core? basically a night and day difference as far as the unique voicing from one guitar to another. that last percentage of your tone that you're losing with these Antiquated designs makes all the difference when you hear it for the first time. Morrow audio in Independence Kentucky makes a solid core guitar cable, probably the best one that I've played. Vovox also makes one. A solid core guitar cable is going to run you over $300 so it's not for the faint of heart. Most importantly once you've used one you'll never forget the sound of it and you basically can never go back to ordinary cables and be satisfied.

    • @Имбирнаяпеченька-ю6ь

      You don't always need all that treble gets cut off by the cable really. In fact some of the pickups are too damn bright and kinda piercing. And sometimes with these pickups it's hard to dial the right tone by rotating the EQ knobs on the amp. Also some amps have only one tone knob, so no Hi, MID, LOW. And sometimes you find yourself in the situation where you dial back some of the high-end on the amp and the guitar becomes dark or it does nothing, so you are in the middle of to extremes which do not enough, or too much. And long 9 meter cable, like the ones in the video, cuts off just the right amount of treble from the guitar and leaves enough of it too keep the presence. Imho
