    I've made this quilt and missed the part about pressing seams open. Probably would have made it less bulky in the end. I found my layers too think when using a satin stitch around the elephant body. I switched to a different decorative stitch that it wasn't as noticeable that my machine would drag over the bumps. Turned out cute for my grandson.

    I ordered the kit and the quilt is coming out adorbs!!
    Would you suggest a tear away stabilizer before using a satin stitch to finish the appliqué?

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  4 месяца назад

      We're so glad you're enjoying this one, Donna! You can definitely use a tear-away stabilizer if you'd like. We did not use it with our sample, but some people prefer them. Thanks so much for watching! -Michelle

      Hi Debbie! We're so glad you enjoy this fun design! The appliqué was added before the quilt was sandwhiched and quilted. Hope this helps :) -Michelle

    Would you use a layer of batting in the quilt?

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  5 месяцев назад

      You can, as long as the batting/interfacing’s measurements do not exceed that of the front fabric. Happy that you like this project and thanks for your comment! - Abby

    Jen, does this fabric have wool in it? Noticed it mentioned “woolies” in the description. I’m allergic and unable to work with it but adore this baby quilt.

      This is 100% cotton flannel not wool. Happy that you love this project, it is the cutest! Thank you for your comment! - Abby

    On the tutorial Jen didn't show removing the backing when doing the ears. Then when she moved on to showing the assembly of the entire applique she did remove the backing before fusing. Do you remove all backing prior to fusing? And if that is the process, will it fuse to the quilt after being heated up already?

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  4 месяца назад

      Hi Barbara - The backing of the pink fabric (in minute 21 of the tutorial) is removed when Jen fuses it to the gray ear. You'll want to remove the portions of the backing when you're fusing it to other fabrics. The ear backing will be removed when placed onto the quilt. The fusible does work even if it's been heated up before. If you do find that your fusible isn't sticking well, you can always use an additional element like Roxanne's Glue Baste It to assist you. Hope this makes sense! -Michelle

    I can’t find anywhere in the pattern or it tells us how big each of the blocks are. Please respond with the size of each block once finished.

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  2 месяца назад

      @mdnisg61 After Assembly steps 1 & 2, your blocks should measure approximately 7.5" x 7.5", mirroring the larger white blocks you'll attache them to. Once finished, these should measure approximately 7.5" each. Hope this helps! -Michelle
