Just got this exact fake off ebay from a seller that had over 60k feedback - this was for a 1 oz bar. I knew it was a fake immediately due to the thickness, kangaroo pattern on the back, and the serial number font. I did not have a problem getting a refund but I can only imagine how many uniformed people have been ripped off.
@@eliterry3785I just did a quick search. All were fake unless they had a check mark next to their name. So direct from xxx. 1 oz Perth mint. I only went like 10-15 down. Even one with a check mark Aydin something were fake. If the kangaroos bleed into the rim it's fake. Also the bottom left kangaroo is missing it's back. So it just has a little tail poking up it's fake. At least on 1 oz.
Good quality videos for such a tiny channel. Keep up the good work! I remember when I was at 5 subs and I could only dream of more than 100 but promise me. You will get there.
I'm fairly new to gold. Is this something a person has to be careful of even buying through a bullion dealer such as SD Bullion, JM Bullion, US Gold Bureau, etc? Or is this more of a problem when dealing directly through individuals?
You won't have to worry when buying from an established mint. It's the private deals and eBay sales that you have to watch out for. My favorite place to buy is in well established private groups that have approved sellers. Such as GoldBugs on fb. But they aren't always easy to get into.
@@LithicMetals Probably best to for me to continue purchasing through an established mint then. I only have one 1G bar loose with the rest remaining sealed in their assay card packaging. There is deffinately something about gold that just hooks a person. My compliments to your gold bar casting as I watch you casting a 10 oz bar in another video. 👍
I have an original Sigma PMV and from the looks of your readings on your pro, this bar would have tricked my PMV. The weight would have been a dead giveaway though. Did you do a magnet test on it?
I bought a Perth mint 20 gram bar from a gold bullion store in California. I didn’t realize how bad counterfeits were especially with this brand. Upon looking at my bar the kangaroos are printed on the outer brim of the bar and a magnetic test has some resistance. Any tips on how I go about talking to the seller? I’m asking them tomorrow to test it out of the package. I was a first time gold buyer, but after this I will only buy bars that don’t have a package like Perth. It’s too sketchy
I'd just go in and ask them to take a closer look at it. Bring your receipt. Ask if they are able to tell if it's genuine by the packaging and ask them to explain it to you with examples online or within their stock. If you still have doubts or if they don't seem to care, jump on Facebook. Go to a group called gold and silver forum. Show some pics to the group and ask if they have any ideas. Maybe folks can tell just by looking at the packaging.
@@LithicMetalsThank you for the reply. I just went to the store I bought it from and had them open it and test it. It was indeed fake. I showed them my receipt and they were really cool about it. They refunded me. They apologized, but showed me that the thickness of the 20 gram was to big and the kangaroos being imprinted on the rim was also a red flag. It’s crazy how well done these counterfeits are.
I am going to start collecting gold bars from a legit site , can I ask if I should remove the bar from the packaging or leave it in the packaging does it affect value
No I wouldn't, not unless there was some sort of indication that something was off. And if I missed a fake, I would know it as soon as I melted it... the impurities are tough to miss 🙂
I think if you Google fake gold bar... they will pop up. The only problem is, by buying them... you're kind of supporting crooks. And, we have that many more fakes out there 😞
That doesn't even make sense, I've seen fake Credit Suisse bars, fake Pandas even fake AGE's. If you know where it comes from and you know the signs any good LCS can verify it's authenticity.
I mostly buy Perth mint… but from the Perth mint itself. The Chinese fake bars target all major gold bar suppliers not just the Perth mint! The Perth mint has tamper evident seals on all their small bars too.
Right off the bat you can see that the lettering is not correct, also when you split a perth card the words void appear between the plastic sheets. And as you pointed out it's way too thick, you can see the width from inside the assay.
@@isaacclark9825 lol all I meant was the ensemble average of local densities of states defined by g 2 ( ε 1 , ε 2 )=≪ρ( ε 1 , r )ρ( ε 2 , r )≫ is theoretically investigated, where ρ( ε , r ) is the local density of states of disordered systems. It is shown by using the self-consistent theory due to Vollhardt and Wölfle and a physical picture of localization due to Mott, which includes the effect of “level repulsion”, that g 2 ( ε 1 → ε 2 ) is non zero even if the states around ε 2 are localized. @@danyrizk1203 I haven't watch this video in a while. I dont exactly recall what it looks like on camera. But it was tested on a sigma, and the surface tested in the green. Also, the packaging should be tamper evident. You would see “VOID” appear in the plastic that surrounds the bar as you open it.

This is the dangers of buying online. For some items, it really helps to look and hold it first
If you knew it was fake then why did you buy it👀
Should’ve posted the sellers name. Instead you took care of yourself and simply wondered about others….. Righteous.
@@eliterry3785 No, I reported him to ebay as well.

i thought it was an ounce bar due to the size being so big, easy to spot, 10 gms are small, very small

Thanks for sharing! That's great information!
Thanks for watching Loren!
Could it be a nordic gold ingot with a gold mirror finish?
The fake ones tend to have the dotted serial number.
First Perth mint fake I have seen normally PAMP
Could you take some dimensions of the bar and/or packaging. Need more info!
Sorry, that thing was shipped back to the owner... who then got a refund.
how much weight have a certipack?

Is there a danger in buying fake bars from APMEX?
No not from APMEX 😁
What would ten g weigh in the packet if you didn’t open it up 16.1?
No clue... every packet is different

What about the hologram Klein bars - no counterfeit for the hologram yet huh?
I haven't seen any
where did you buy it from
I didn't actually buy it myself. A customer sent it in to me. He bought it from a private sale, and was fully refunded.

Obviously the thickness but also the package differences between genuine and fake
Rule number 1 do NOT buy gold or silver off EBay.
No. Do not buy gold or silver from anyone you don't trust. This buyer was refunded immediately by his seller.
has there been any fakes from JM bullion?

This is not a perth mint bar. Its a fake perth mint bar from China
at least its not a hemi
