When driving Bribie, especially going to Poverty, run 12-18 pound pressure. There's something about the silicon content of the sand is different to most places in SEQ that makes the sand so powdery and loose. Most people avoid the inland track and go up the beach then cross at the top of the island.
Yeah Mate, been there done that. Had to eventually drop down to 15 psi in the 4wd & 20 in the Van to get through. 3 Tonne Van & 4cyl TD Pathfinder. Bloody soft sand, but Poverty Creek was worth it, lovely camp-site. Just nailed it when leaving, no issues!
Used to go to Bribie a lot many years ago. Great spot. I remember getting stuck on the beaches up Cape York when working in Weipa. If we got stuck, we'd roll the spare wheel out the length of the winch cable, tie it to the spare wheel, bury it in the sand & winch away. A very slow process, but it worked. Love how Leroy stepped up to the plate there. Some very skillful driving, too, of course. Good on ya team. 😊
Cracked me up when you said your confidence is up and Sarah is like I'm not sure she likes that 😂 you done a stellar job towing and sorting out the tire pressure 🤙 yeeeew great job
GO LEROY!! Take your bbq tongs and a bucket next time for muddies. Best on outgoing tide, look for familiar shape lump just under surface and grab 'em from behind with tongs
Nice driving! Those Ocean Beach campsites are always fully booked over the weekend but we managed to snag a cancellation a while back at number 10. Was incredible!
Another great episode you two. Look for a hole In the mud on the outgoing tide. Put your hand in really fast grab the muddie pull it out and get it on the boil. Just make sure your faster then the crab or you might lose a finger. Or buy a crab pot. Also my TPMS and tyre deflaters arrived easy to set up. Cheers
great vid guys being a local im so glad you guys went to Bribie even it it was just one part we normally go up the ocean camp sites. its so cool for me because ive been watching your vids for ever and to see you guys in my own back yard its so cool keep doing what your doing cheers from Queensland south
Balls of steel driving on that sand. And well done for keeping calm (on camera at least). Mate, if I can't park my camper in three goes I'm ready to set it all of fire and the Mrs has her work cut out talking me down. Looks like I would have had the matches out on that track. Keep up the great content. I'm living vicariously through you guys while winter starts taking hold here in Vic.
Thanks mate! Hahahah before you set it on fire let me know I’ll come grab it off ya 😂 I know the feeling though!! Cheers mate! VIC is like our second home, I bet your getting cold at the moment, cheers for watching
Awesome guys!! Bribe is very underrated, ( I think the old locals like that) It’s where I cut my teeth with beach driving way back in the Suzuki Sierra days. Still love a Bribe day trip. That track is always fun, foot down and keep into-it 😁
30psi on the van is high, bad starting point... 20psi would have been better all round but given you're towing, down to 13 for the 200 and 15 on the van. At least it was your first call after stalling out. A good recovery. Good to see a young fella be smart and know how to restart on soft sand. Bllody hell, check the size of that crab, MONSTA.
Hey Liam! like we said, had no idea about the track.. could of been a hard road for all we knew, thats why we only dropped a little to start with, cheers for watching and commenting!! haha monster crab aye.
@@SarahandKeelanTravels Yeah its a little hard to guess but if a track says no vans or campers only near a beach or on islands, its a 98% chance it's because of soft sand. I'm surprised that crab let you get away 🤣
A good tip when driving in soft stuff is keep your thumbs outside the wheel or you may well break your thumbs if you hit a covered rock causing the wheel to spin.
You Guys are Amazing with what your doing, so Amusing and educational at the same time, but I've learnt so much from your You tube channel. Keep up the Fantastic job, and cant wait to see more of your Antics online. Thanks heaps for the enjoyment x
have you looked into a equalizer for your hitch? it levels out your vehicle and trailer, giving you equal traction...sometimes if you dont have one the front end looses traction faster than it should
Wow some skilled off road driving techniques Keelan, well done, great filming Sarah and what a beast of a truck. Well done guys. Have a great weekend cheers 🍻
As soon as I hit sand in my 200 Sahara I go down to 18psi and if it's soft to 15psi and really soft 10psi, same with my off road van... just don't turn aggressively and you won't roll a tyre off the rim
Been there plenty of times. We have even taken a Subaru WRX camping in there before. (The Rangers were shocked) The spot definitely lives up to the name of "Poverty creek". Not much there, but still an ok camp ground.
Also look for holes or little cave's under rocks and get yourself a decent length of solid wire and make a hook which you slide under the crab then twist and drag it out. only take the Bucks with the pointy triangle shape underneath not the wider rounder shape!
@@SarahandKeelanTravels Yeah I've never been that low before but my old Stauns are set to about 18 and I haven't been to Bribie Island too, if I do straight down to 15 psi For me 😁 😁 😁
thanks mr bede!! cheers legend! was a lot of fun getting in and out of that joint! been doing a few good tracks lately with the van cant wait to show ya!
When I was a kid the Bribie Island bridge had a hefty price to cross. It is paid for now by the people who used it most and free now. I love your video’s. Happy travels 😀
Gonna need crab pots in Qld mate. Unlike WA, you are allowed pots. Grab one and tie it off spare tyre on either LeRoy or Keithie. Throw the pots in at night after a few beers, tie to a tree and then check first thing in morning before the locals check it 🤙🏼
Driving in sand can be a challenge and even more towing. Here in Central Oregon we do have some soft soils, and clay in the playa's. For the most part we have rocks. Many of the trails are like driving down a dry creek bed. Be safe and keep up the adventures.
A other fantastic video Keelan and Sarah really enjoyed it. I would of went right down the other end of Bribie sorry I can’t think what you call it . But you only have a short entrance to get onto the beach then drive way up to the war bunkers and then down to were you camp for the night. Way easier if you are towing a van. So looking forward to seeing you both next Friday night
