There are people on Gamefaqs that claimed it was still legit even after you admitted it was fake, claiming, "oh he's only faking it because he doesn't want to draw suspicion from the Nintendo Ninjas." And then even after this video was released, there is someone still claiming it was legit for the same reasons. Good job Jon! You were apparently so convincing that people will still bat that this account was real even after it's been outed (by the faker himself even) as a fake even with the mountain of evidence that supported that conclusion.

And it goes to show how easy it is to fake a bunch of predictions and appear credible by manipulating the posting date of messages (by hiding them for a time) along with other tricks like you did. By default I disbelieve "leaks", and this just reinforces that notion for me. And uhh, boy, I imagine that's a lot of fuel for people to clown on the news outlets that reported on this as being true...

There's a channel here on RUclips that uses basically the same trick to "predict" celebrity deaths. It's even easier 'cause you can make individual videos private, and then just un-private the ones that actually happen.

I did the same thing during Mortal Kombat 9's release. People kept citing IMDB as credible leak sources, so I went on there and added "Peter North" (the porn star) as playing Taven, just to show how easy it is to edit. And people actually made threads on it
This was so fascinating to watch and hear just how these accounts can come up with this stuff. We have these fake rumors all the time, and it's incredible how within a day you were able to expose it all for what it is. Don't feel bad, Jon, I think this experiment will do more good than anything!

I used to do that on Facebook. I'd make two posts saying _____ is gonna win the football game. Then, after it happens, I'd delete the incorrect info and make the correct info public. Nobody ever caught on.
What I find funny about these ‘insider’ accounts is they’ll literally post something generic like “Nintendo will talk about dlc” and then they’d also say “potentially Metroid prime and potentially Alan Wake” etc and people will still reply “you nailed it”
