Next year Beane will have 1 first round pick and 2 second round picks lot's of draft capital.
The Texans still have there 2nd round pick next year they traded the pick they got from Minnesota to the Bills I have to give Caserio credit really didn't lose nothing by getting Diggs they have 9 picks this year and will still have all there picks next year

He's the type of natural born leader who came in and immediately galvanized that locker room. He knew what the state of the organization was going in, and empathized with a fanbase who hadn't had much to be proud of in years. He was hell bent on giving the city something to be proud of so that the Texans logo could be worn as a badge of honor. Said it, meant it, already more than achieved it. He's a man on a mission. Loaded with weapons. Chemistry, culture, and vibes like no team in the league right now. Unreal how drastically different the identity of this team is from where they came from.

Tbh I don't think this move is made without both sides understanding what his role will be. Ultimately CJ will throw to whoever is open (or he'll throw them open) so go ball out and you'll get plenty of touches. Furthermore the guaranteed money is up after this year and Buffalo is paying most of that so if he proves to be a cancer then you cut him after this year and move on. It's essentially a 1 year prove to me you can produce at a high level still and not be a cancer in the process.
