Stagg SES-30 Strat type guitar. Review by a novice who’s had 126 guitars. Better than Harley Benton?

  • I’m a novice but have owned 126 guitars.
    Stagg loaned me this guitar for review as they believe that from one novice to another this would be an honest take. I was not paid for this and in fact it cost me time and money to collect the guitar.

    Stagg has been coming up. I like that lake blue with cream pickguard. Sweet one!

    I've got a soft spot for LPB but, not a fan of the cream plastics 😬
    Easy change tho. Looks like a decent mod platform with the neck heel etc 😎👍

    It is actually refreshing to happen upon a gear review done by an "everyman" instead of the usual dime-a-dozen classical music level sooper doopur magician/musicians who often do these.

    Nice looking guitar Rich! I've got my eye set on the fender player plus in white pearloide but a vintage looking strat in aged white would do the trick but it must have a maple fret board. I picked up a 1996 USA made Peavey and its amazing, unfortunately its not white it's red. The neck is like butter and so are the frets. I scored a find in this one!

    Sounds better than the blonde stagg Tele you tried out imo and the back heel cut is a winner.

    I was looking forward for this. I am not a brand snob, despite I like heritage. But the bad point for me personally is the headstock shape, it's not appealing, it may be subjective, but it may be the easiest thing on a guitar to improve, the headstock and nice logo to be eye catching. The body is brilliant color, pickguard is sweet aged white, not that plastich-cheap-white, so all good here. Tone is decent, nice budget guitar.

      I’m the same and one reason I never bought a Jet guitar. Don’t like the logo or headstock on those

    Cheapest guitars are made of cheapest wood. Necks are thicker for stability. You get this on Glarry, Harley Benton and others. A high nut would make you fret chords out of tune too.
    Squiers have a biting sound because they come with 500K pots and the bridge pick-up is extra sharp because it has no tone control. This one might have the more traditional 250K, which tone down the highs and if by chance the bridge is connected to a tone control, it also adds to this, even with the pot on full.

    • @thenovicenoisemaker
      @thenovicenoisemaker  2 года назад

      That makes sense. I had a Glarry and that neck was super chunky too

    • @Leo_ofRedKeep
      @Leo_ofRedKeep 2 года назад

      @@thenovicenoisemaker Another reason for the sound: Squiers come with Fender strings (which are pretty good, D'addario quality) while this likely comes with junk strings that were always dull.

    Hi, can you tell me if this guitar has a full 1.75" thick body or is it thinner like a Squier Affinity or bullet series? Thanks!

      A big fat guitar is like dating a big fat woman. I think the misinformation of thick bodies has been debunked so we should enjoy the lean curvy guitars available. That guy can go find a big fat woman if he wants.
