Bless you, thank you
Nice guitar Rich. I've only has one HB strat (the red with gold hardware) but the tuners were just 'awful' so moved it on real quick. Not sure 12" radius is for me on a strat but that's how I roll.
@@mark_greening_gtr I got lucky with these tuners, not great but they’re ok, I get it with 12” radius 👍🏻
It would be great if you were holding these two guitars and pointing to them. I for one like to see the guitars you talking about. Peace!
@@briancoyne6700 I sold one of them so can’t unfortunately
Artist Guitars wipe the floor with all of them.
@@dannygoode2255 just looking at a couple of them. Nitro finish on one for £330 is impressive
Hi Rich, for left-handed players like me, the PRS SE Silver Sky has finally become available, presenting a new option. However, I find it too expensive for what it offers, especially given its plastic-style tuners. I own a collection of Harley Benton and Jet guitars, and with a proper setup and possibly a few modifications, they perform exceptionally well at a budget-friendly price.
@@ldsontop totally agree with you. Even a Mexican fender at £700 these days is crazy for a basic guitar
Wow that colour is the DB’s and just the right amount of darkening to the neck - tasty looking guitar. I have three rooms full of guitars but I don’t actually own anything from Mr Harley & Mrs Benton, however I’m not a brand snob - they are probably responsible for getting more young kids picking up a guitar and that deserves some respect & recognition. Great time to be a player 🤟
@@johngibson911 lovely words John 🤗
I personally only buy cheap guitars, I’ve not got the urge to buy a big brand , Gibson , fender , PRS etc , mainly the price ( because I’m I’m tight fisted ) but also I couldn’t do an expensive guitar the justice , so I’ll be sticking to budget range stuff , and have to put up with squealing noises in and videos I do 😂,, 👍👍🤠🎸
@@c.h.fieldsports9876 lol Col 🤣
lmao that intro. Reminded me of the boss i had back then. Great guy but sounded like Mickey mouse
Love a bit of Mickey Mouse 🐭
Hey Rich, really fantastic take. I'm sick of so many guitarists pushing this narrative that expensive instruments are always better and if you don't have a brand name instrument, you're a bad player, it's absolute BS!!! My main guitar is a HB TE-62 that I did some basic setup work on and it feels and plays amazing - I don't feel the need to get anything better! Especially not the overpriced Fender player series that have as many if not more QC issues than budget brands!
@@samarth1906 hey Sam, thanks for tuning in and commenting 🤗 Totally with you here. Love my 62 too. Fender really are crazy money and their QC is questionable to say the last least!
Brand, you pay more for a brand it's as simple as that really. It's exactly the same reason why a Tesco hoodie is cheaper than a puma hoodie check ✔️ sorry Rich I had to crowbar that in 😂😂😂
@@simongummer4515 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I bought it n it had buzzing due to high frets. I returned it n bought a mexican fender
@@the.communist that’s a shame. No guarantees of perfect frets on a Fender though. Could have had the HB sorted for way less money. However, as long as you’re happy that’s all that counts 👍🏻. Thanks for tuning in
Hell yeah on the 1000+! :) For different presetty type things would highly recomend the line 6 helix stuff. I myself am absolutely awfull with all things tech but the line 6 is so easy with the desktop stuff or using it through the unit. Bought the floor to replace my old pedalboard and my interface all at once and it works flawlessly. You can split the signal path up to either allow you to swap the preamp on your amp or (like i do) run one side as the front of amp and one as the loop :) Its also a good recording tool and great for silent playing if you ever need to :) Would highly recomend :)
@@AnimalJohn85 I think I need a proper investigation into my sound once I’ve got a job and cash rolling in again. Thanks for tuning in again Mr Animal, appreciated 👍🏻
That neck looks well nice, interesting heel too dunno if its the lighting but it looks very angular :) i like look of that :) As I always say of these kinda geetars theyd make a perfect modder 😈 Great vid as always sir, hope your keepin well :)
@@AnimalJohn85 thank you buddy. This one might get some upgrade in time but doubt I’ll do it 🙈
Harley Benton make some tidy guitars for the money , but my performer strat takes some beating 🎸
@@simonnash3560 I bet it does 😀. What colour is it?
@ lake placid blue , plays like a dream
My Harley Benton ST20 @ £70.00 is better than my Fender Performer, it wants to be played and has mojo. - I have the Fender Honeyburst Performer model and its awful. My first and last last Fender. Its a really bad guitar. Maybe I just got unlucky☹
@ that’s a shame Dave. I like your Performer, good looking guitar
@ lovely ☺️
Thanks Rich, it’s refreshing to hear from someone who understands that the most important part of playing a guitar is how it makes you feel. There is an equal amount of fun to be had from a £150 Harley Benton and a £9000 Gibson Custom Shop - music isn’t a competition, it’s a joy.
@@johngibson911 here here ☺️. Appreciate you watching and commenting 👍🏻
I bought the Squier Sonic, and the ST-62 (and I am NOT a Harley Benton fan) but The Harley Benton sounded more 'fenderish' and glassy then the Squier. Kudo's
@@Musictruthschannel-jb8du appreciate the comment 👍🏻
For beginners who have a little parts swap savvy, change tuners, block, amd pickups if required amd for about $250 you get a decent guitar. Just my opinion based on owning inexpensive and mid range guitars and what you get for your money.
@@dragan4658 tuners for me, always the worst part
@thenovicenoisemaker correct! Usually that's the case, poor tuners, yet for a few dollars more manufacturers can add distinctly better tuners, yet they scrimp on tuning stability. Go figure!
@ annoying for sure
This is a nice color, Im a fan of vintage white but not butter cream. Im planning on possibly 3 Hb guitars in the very near future, the st modern plust, a premium model tele and possibly a upper LP model so thank you very much for showcasing these fine guitars, it definately helps when choosing new guitars! Thanks Rich!
@@dragan4658 you’re welcome ☺️
I know you buy and sell guitars a lot. Would you mind answering all my questions 1.What made you sell the previous ST-62s you had? 2. Apart from the neck (obviously important) - has anything else changed on this guitar? If the pickups are the same - then I assume it won't sound any different to your previous ST-62's. In the title of your video - you say you prefer the ST-62 to a Jet. I have a Jet JS-300. It is £30-£50 more than the ST-62...but feels incredibly very well built. I've swapped out the tuners for locking tuners and considering a pickup swap. I'm not crazy about the ceramic pickups it ships with......but as ceramic pickups go they're nicer than normal as they are low output ones. Unlike many budget Strat copies the Jet-JS300 has a full size trem block. A mate of mine who buys and sells guitars like you do.......but deals in expensive models ( !! ) was very impressed with the JS-300 and was gobsmacked that it can be bought for around £160 - £180. He genuinely expected it to be in the £400 - £500 range. Long lead up to question 3.......but 3. What is it about the ST-62 you prefer over a Jet?? (Obviously I don't know which Jet you are referring to. But the JS-300 is the correct comparison as they are both SSS Strats). I would be very interested to know. Big thanks!!!
@@mikenorman6697 I sometimes sell a guitar when I’m bored with it and just want something else, can’t keep them all. I have fads of liking different things. The 62’s with a 12” non gloss neck are preferable too. As for Jet, I’ve had a couple of 300’s and a 400 hundred. I prefer the 12” radius on the HB, I also prefer the HB colour finishes and takes on sunburst and white. Personal thing but i don’t like the Jet headstock shape, logo or branding, really off put for me, in terms of overall quality there’s not a lot in it I dint think, full size block, does that matter to the sound in the real world and especially to a bedroom player? No. The ST Modern I had, that’s a different story, the specs, fit, finish, playability are incredible, I’ll definitely get another but in a different finish. Thanks for tuning in 👍🏻
@@thenovicenoisemaker As far as I know a full size block will give you better tone, more sustain and (I think) better tuning stability too over thinner block.
Mate will you make a video comparing both ST62 and Modern one? Mainly about the neck? Your feedback welcomed 😃 @@thenovicenoisemaker
@ I got rid of Modern. That had a compound radius 12-16”. Other than that, they both have rolled edges and no fret issues. The Modern had better polished frets but to be honest, they’re both great

How does that compare to the silver sky you had previously?
That’s a great question! The tuners on the PRS felt better. I dare say the electronics in the PRS were of higher quality but honestly, in terms of feel I prefer the HB neck and the pickups are subjective but the HB sounds every bit a Strat to my ears. Having had both I’m more than happy with the HB and plenty of cash in my pocket
@@thenovicenoisemakerOf course very subjective, I like the look of the silver sky bust tbh this HB looks awesome especially for the price point
@ posted a little video for you on my thoughts. LOVE the colour of this HB

I bought the Boss Katana Artist MKII and download patches off sites which cover tones of artists. It's a great amp, easy to use. Like you I just wanted something I could flick on and go. As much as I love playing with pedals they really can just be a distraction.
That’s a good shout. Nice amp, pricey but would you say worth it?
before you check the tuning...give the bar a lift up...that can sometimes release a string stuck on something. A classic EVH trick.
@@lgmnowkondo938 cool 👌🏻
Great work doing this many videos. 🙂 Sorry to be boring about the effects. I think you should just use your pedalboard to get the sounds… I know you can’t be bothered with another amp with the effects. It will not sound as good as your Blackstar anyway 😉
Thanks Carsten ☺️
Nice milestone nonetheless. Well done sir!
@@Ben_Mdws 🤣 thanks Ben!
Thanks for all the videos Richie !! I only had 1 x guitar when I started watching your channel. I now have 30 !!! (4 of those purchased directly from you ). Bank account savings are so over-rated, assets is where its at. I think you should buy a Zoom G5n multi pedal board. Heres why.... (I know you dont like these things but this board is very easy to use.) Just use it for the presets.... 125 presets will keep you busy for a while. You dont need to get involved with creating complex chains/sounds. You get a cool drum machine and decent looper. (80 seconds) Also - you will have greater control over your volume on your amplifier so you can get much, much lower volumes for night time playing. (Also has headphone socket) Zoom G5n functions as a USB audio interface. - For future recordings of all your hit songs.

Has anyone that owns this guitar experienced loud crackling when playing hard chords on a clean setting? I have the TE-52 and the TE-30 and both guitars do exactly the same thing. Playing through an Orange Crush 20 amp with an Ernie Ball braided cable, in Drop D tuning, playing clean lead and dirty chords are fine, but when really hammering chords in clean, both guitars crackle loudly...
