- Brent Spiner on "Working in the Theater" seminar, telling a hilarious story about something that happened to him once on the stage. Yet another proof that Mr. Spiner is one of the funniest people on earth.

"...And that man, was Sean Penn."
start to finish, one of the funniest things I have ever heard in my life.
XD
He is amazing. I love him.
I met this guy in person and I have to tell you Brent Spiner is VERY Funny!!
Seriously funny. Brent is a brilliant comedian. I love him so
"And that man, is Sean Penn"
awesome....
Eddie Izzard and Brent Spiner in the same clip? I don't know if my heart can take it. Great story, great delivery. Thank you for sharing it.
OMG he's so much fun.
Mr Data you made my Day.
I laugh so hard at this 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for the upload.
I believe he has mellowed somewhat now that the shooting pressure is off him.
Quite an actor, overall, IMO...
I loved his appearances on 'Night Court'.
Brent Spiner... and Eddie Izzard... in the same room... conversing...
*flails idiotically*
*joins in the flail*
Gotta love Brent, he is so funny :) Thanks for posting!
hahahahaha. amazing actor. amazing.
haha who knew the android could mess up ^_^
And this is why internetting at midnight is dangerous. I think I just hurt myself laughing.
Brent is my favorit acter... My wife and me love his performance...
Great clip if you need a good laugh. I had to share it with my husband before it was even over. I just restarted it and let it go.
Brent and Eddie on the same stage? Brilliant!! XD
if anyone ever wonders why people like to go to live shows it's so that something like what they says happens:
you get to meet your favorite actor live because of some incident XD!
ow my side
God, this made me laugh my ass off XD And it's nearly impossible to make ME laugh my ass off.
@MrsCamui I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who noticed Eddie over there on the far right.
He reminds me of Matthew Perry with his comedic timing!
Love both!
If you want to see him do good comedy go back and catch his stuff from Night Court. You'll laugh your ass off LOL
Ah good. That makes much more sense.
For a moment I was beginning to worry about his ability to cope. =]
Hey look, it's Izzard! :D
he's so awesome, he's so funny! i think he's one of those people who doesn't even have to try to be funny!
This kind of story is unsettlingly familiar. Oh the horrible things that happen during blackouts! Injuries, mishaps, and lots of hushed shouting at people.
People are so surprised when their " idols " do something fallible & human - i.e: When they sometimes act self - important, petty or even like TOTAL Jerk - O - Matics.
I'm sure Brent Spiner is a great guy, but he can't be convivial, gracious & witty all the time.
Gotta smile. :-)
Sounds like the guy got the best seat in the house!
This is the greatest story in the history of ever.
Fantastic! Rated it 5 stars and favourited. :D
yeah....incredible!
ok, I must have been a complete theater geek in college! See the above video from GlumPuppet called "Lana's B.S. Degree"
That's odd, because I saw him speak at a convention in San Francisco in the early 90s and he was very personable and funny, fielded tons of questions, etc.
He even allowed a Data impersonator on stage and had a bit of fun with that.
Maybe he had a hangover or something when you saw him... who knows :)
HAHAHA! How embarrassing! I would panic.
Oh, that was brilliant XDD
Better than hurting yourself in other ways :p
@2dollarJosh Love him.
Ya know what would have topped this off? If Brent had said his first line was "CAke or Death?!"
fuckin rad!
five stars
HOLY FUCK!! It's Eddie fuckin' Izzard! I just about choked when I saw him.
I don't think so. It was some sort of joke they were doing throughout the show.
This was an episode of ATW's Working in the Theater (2005)...with Alec Baldwin in there, too
@webwombel A friend of mine worked in a play with him a couple years back and asked him about this, and he said that it wasn't completely true. I don't care, to be honest. True or not, he's a good storyteller.
I wonder what was the untrue part is.... I heard the same story told by an actor both in a talk show and a radio interview and the details changed a bit... in one was it about him watching a specific video for job and in the other it was a booklet with pictures he had to read.
Aw goddamn that always makes me laugh. *wipes away a tear of laughter* It's the sound he makes.
@Dylan1191698 That is Eddie Izzard is it not? Eddiiiiiiie!
LMAO
Was it really Sean Penn?
It's Bill Maher!
every actor's nightmare
Sorry for your bad experience. Doesn't say much about Spiner.
I'm not sure if I'm more worried about me or the amount people who find this so funny. It's a mildly amusing story I suppose, but the reaction it gets in the vid and in the comments here? I guess most people are more easily amused than I thought. Either that or I'm just dead inside.
It's you...
Tru Dis I love Brent, but I too have noticed live audiences tend to buy in to the whole deal, and get carried away. I didn’t laugh out loud at this, but did get warm and fuzzy.
Uhm,... it's very funy and adore Spiner. But how can this story be true? I doubt the chair were positioned that near to the edge, and how can you pull a guy sitting in the audience up to the stage? ok ok... I don't mean to do party pooping... I just like to understand :) The story is hilarious anyway :)
It's common for theaters to have intimate small stages (usually called a cellar, and located on bottom floor). They have something like 100 seats circulating the stage. The front lines are very close and same level as the actors.
I guess Spiner was more funny when not making TNG convention appearances... I saw him in NC in the nineties, he spoke very briefly, took no audience questions, and did no autographs... that was to jack up the price of his autographed photos. All in all, quite the ripoff for fans who paid to see him. McFadden was also not warm and friendly to fans.
