They put David Bote -- who only even has a roster spot because Kris Bryant is injured -- in with that crowd, some of the best hitters in the game? That's gotta make the kid (who's nice as can be, and is playing his ass off) feel like a million dollars.
The points made here are common among almost every major league hitter and any higher level player for that matter. What then is the separation between being world class and being average?? The timing of all of these things with the ball and where your vision is at the appropriate time and place. Hitting is 3 major things...Approach, Mechanics and Timing. They all serve a major role but the first two don't matter if you don't know how and when to time!
Casey describing Freeman at about the 2:18 mark, "Head back, hands back, boom DOWN through the baseball". DOWN through the baseball? Proof that because you played at the elite level doesn't mean you know what you're talking about. Perhaps he misspoke, but clearly Freeman is slightly UP through the baseball.
He said he wants his kid to go and get the baseball which is fine for a fastball. But it’s hard to stay back on anything else. I mean his kid is probably young and doesn’t see them yet but once you start habits it’s hard to break
Brandon Loner go get the baseball as in attacking it with your body not your bat, the hands stay back on your load with an offspeed you just remain the hands at load and explode them when needed otherwise that’s take your regular swing on a fastball
These guys are clueless to each batter's unique usage of a kinetic chain to hit. Mookie Betts' approach is by far the freest and most efficient kinetic chain. Mookie is also the only one of the group that can attack with the back hand above, below or any angle between relative to front hand. He gets to choose the best bat path based on the height of the pitch. All these other batters appear to attack each n every pitch from below only, having to bring their clubhead from up to down under to way back up again to hit a pitch above their hands. So many hitters with this flawed upper cut approach forced MLB to lower the top of the strike zone since they can't hit a pitch up under the letters.
@@Wes-pq4pl Having talent to do something is not the same as understanding the mechanics of it, every big leaguer is good, not all of them know why ( also.. to have a TV show about "teaching" people about the mechanics of hitting, you gotta be able to express yourself much better than this, they can yell all they want looking at people swinging, but this won't make the audience understand a thing xd )
This is utterly fantastic to watch these baseball ambassadors love on the game and break down hiitting mechanics.
This gold. Amazing advice from a a hall of famer and a good hitter 👍
