The idea behind this game is great and nothing can beat it. However with the super old graphics even the new wave of players (if any tbh), they won't stay for long. The experience includes both the meta/large-scale teamplay and visual feel/look. I personally like games in which I can experience that the environments where I am fighting, actually feel natural (like in HLL). And that's not possible without a good graphics anymore. Can't wait till the UE conversion. However again... if that conversion won't change the nature of the map (very generic-like feel and empty streets just with more detailed textures and lighting), it can't change the semi-dead status of the game.
Personally I won't bother even launching the game if it won't look at least like HLL or like their Chokepoint (the worst case) or like Resolve (the best case).
Not to mention that despite a large European map, the Normandy region (a pretty important region since we are talking about 6th of June) is not included. And that is for me as a Normandy theater fan an unacceptable negative thing.
The downside for me is that this is the Western front only, something that is overdone and boring compared to the Eastern front. Southern front is rarely done, same with the Pacific front, which would be very interesting.
eh, I would play it in the long term. Fuck all of those Call of Duty realism level of shit, I want it more or less arcadey and definitely optimized. But yeah, that needs more expansion like Eastern Front Chapter 2 or Pacific Theater, that'll be awesome
Hell Let Loose has some of the least technically impressive core mechanics and sloppiest engine work I've ever seen. I say that lovingly because it's a good and fun game but the map design is almost laughable. They push it as a realistic game when it doesn't even have fire selectors or bipods where they should be granted. An item called "Hammer" exists in the game. The BARman with a hammer? Okay, I guess. Three howitzers bunched up in the same spot every time where a mini game takes place of recon. Play the game without the graphics turned up. Look at what happens on the tactical map. It's just battlefield. It isn't close to a milsim. In 2003 there were PC games with better gnplay than HLL. HLL also has a sound design that is pretty amateurish considering it is a game built on dev tools that were probably fine in 2015 but they have gotten nowhere since Alpha. I'm sorry to say it but new factions? The new maps? These are wasting dev time when the game itself has things about it that players begin to understand and no longer want to play with the "relaxed" crowd who never opens their map or thinks during their gameplay. It is a strongsuit of HLL historically but MP games are always built around the community and I think the fun is mostly over because the game systems do very little new. I don't mean to be harsh but HLL is such an easy game if you think with your brain. They're having the SL issue because the game is actually not as good as it seems. I'm sorry to say that but it's tough love on Hwll Let Loose. Good fun but it takes itself so seriously when it's pretty much a confetti wrapped iteration of a bunch of game systems. HLL 2 is needed at this point because you can't even zero a sight in the game after all these years. The reason why: ballistics don't exist in HLL the way they happen in reality. The sense of scale in all their maps is lost. Graphics matter, point taken. But I feel the need to say that HLL was inferior to Post Scriptum in every way except playerbase. HLL is the new battlefield until DICE can get people away. But after a while people get tired of watching a game try to sell more copies rather than fix its issues. The retrospective on HLL is going to be a lot of this tough love. It's great but it's literally beaten by games that were programmed to run on Windows distributions from 20+ years ago. Day of Defeat has more buildings you can enter than HLL. I don't like to needlessly criticize but it has been the default WW2 fps for years for one reason: it's where the players played. The concept of WW2 online is so advanced and it's implementation is more about functionality. Enjoy whatever you find fun and don't let me ruin the experience, but I cant play 4 squares with people who don't even talk on HLL. If no one wants to talk, it isn't a milsim. But HLL could just do simple things to make their game more accessible feeling , but it would be a very short video because the game is so simple compared to even a game like Squad. It's just a pretty game and it's fun. Imho

will they lower the sub price for the "release"? Around 20 euro is too steep, it's one of my most fav games but couldn't be arsed to pay after they recently increased the sub price, lowering the player base even further meaning you'd barely get anyone on during day time EU time and at PEAK it became a thing of only weekends and not even as many as before, making paying that much per month a waste of money. Hopefully they lower it.
Found this while looking up Heros and Generals after their Kickstarter debacle. So from what I see, this is a massive shooter with the potential for thousands of players... but does it have a massive world map? It's one of the parts I loved about Planetside 2... the ability to casually have a conversation with friends, and get in a plane heading to an intense firefight not a minute away... Are the maps large enough to give that feel? I do intend to play, as it seems amazing and precisely what I am looking for lol. Edit: just got to the part of the video where you stated there are tons of towns similar to the one you are assaulting that people are trying to capture as well... download has to hurry lol

Seems YT auto message filter doesn't like links and removed it, but I will do it at least this way - the BD's video about it was called "This company is truly innovating... introducing SpatialOS"
there is also a game called Foxhole that also does this with the exception of an air force, but it is a lot more grinding in the production for weapons and vehicles.
Nowhere near this scale. The map for WW2O is incomprehensibly large. And the game in theory supports significantly more players since foxhole has region limits that are relatively low.
Would play this with my friends and Dad on our LAN back in 2005/2006. It was fun, but the player base was never that great. We’d fly around looking for enemies for hours and never find anyone. We’d end up going head to head and play opposite teams just to see what combat was like lol. Hell let loose is basically this game on steroids. That’s why I’ve enjoyed that game so much
WWII Online. A lovely game I never got to play online properly. The graphics and animations are very.. CoD2-like, lovely for older gamers, but possibly confusing or even irritating for younger ones. They're still making a remake of this game too. I think it's called WWII Online: Chokepoint.
Serious rats should skip ue and go rent vbs 4 and convert it to 1940s. With 1940s truck and ship simulator added. As well as resource farming, conscripting, mining, construction, smithing/production, supplying.
Not so good. Fps is shitty like all online games with many players and poor servers. Lotta rubber banding and crap game play. I won't play this again. Not in its current form. No thanks.
@Andrews.1 The current game runs on a potato, seriously. Only 1 server that is quite robust. We did have reports of some issues today and from player feedback it was their local ISP who was having issues. If you are ingame please submit a .report and describe the issue so we can investigate in more detail. Thanks for joining the game today.
Terrible game with terrible devs who ban anyone who questions them. Just go look at the Steam reviews if youre wondering why no one plays this. They ban their most loyal fans for asking basic questions fans ask devs.
the game does have its issues but alot of those steam reviews are made by people who didnt ask questions or instantly assumed that dying easily in a milsim game that youre new to means everyone is hacking.
Thousands of players sounds good and all until you find out that you will be waiting like 10-20+ minutes any time you want to try and log into this game because the server is always full

I'll be honest I never played it until steam release. The U.I is dated and confusing, and the graphics are not great at all, gameplay is very clunky. But hopefully with the engine update it'll be easier for the masses!
It works pretty well until you start pushing towards 200 people within a small area. That's when you can see some lag/warp so you are encouraged to spread out to other places on the map when that begins to happen. There is a 168 player visual limit within your sphere of vision. Join us for OP MAELSTROM on Sunday. All-access equipment kicks off Friday.
sadly no, not for so many years now, barely 60 ppl per total at PEAK (weekends) and not always with a close to 20 euro sub price lol, increased from like 10 awhile ago. We'll see after today. It will get a wave of ppl, they'll play for awhile while the pop stays "higher" and have access to all stuff, then people will have to sub to continue earning points / use 98% of the loadouts, which means quitting en mass.

I would pay for a Cold War version
I think toothpaste and orange juice are a good pair
The only other game I know, that gives the same kind of feeling of sheer scale and amount of players, is Foxhole.
I played this game many years ago. I was a officer in the GHC. 😊
What was that tech you showed years ago that could be used to have lots of players in a server?
It was SpatialOS.
And the company that made it is called Improbable.
Seems YT auto message filter doesn't like links and removed it, but I will do it at least this way - the BD's video about it was called "This company is truly innovating... introducing SpatialOS"
battlebit could implement a similar mode and it would be great i think
there is also a game called Foxhole that also does this with the exception of an air force, but it is a lot more grinding in the production for weapons and vehicles.
That’s why I’ve enjoyed that game so much
I would consider playing this if they ported it to UE5!
WWII Online. A lovely game I never got to play online properly. The graphics and animations are very.. CoD2-like, lovely for older gamers, but possibly confusing or even irritating for younger ones.
They're still making a remake of this game too. I think it's called WWII Online: Chokepoint.
me young child gamer me get grumpy and confused at this game graphics. me want battlebit and roblox.
Serious rats should skip ue and go rent vbs 4 and convert it to 1940s. With 1940s truck and ship simulator added. As well as resource farming, conscripting, mining, construction, smithing/production, supplying.
Guys I want to have orange juice and milk but idk
Not so good. Fps is shitty like all online games with many players and poor servers. Lotta rubber banding and crap game play. I won't play this again. Not in its current form. No thanks.
@Andrews.1 The current game runs on a potato, seriously. Only 1 server that is quite robust. We did have reports of some issues today and from player feedback it was their local ISP who was having issues. If you are ingame please submit a .report and describe the issue so we can investigate in more detail. Thanks for joining the game today.
I think pink sauce and spider verse burger are a good pair
Edit:don't forget the grimace shake
That physically made me gag
@@cinemahorizon5109 that physically made me gag
Terrible game with terrible devs who ban anyone who questions them. Just go look at the Steam reviews if youre wondering why no one plays this. They ban their most loyal fans for asking basic questions fans ask devs.
Those uh, those steam reviews do not paint a nice picture at all.
paid review 100%
the game does have its issues but alot of those steam reviews are made by people who didnt ask questions or instantly assumed that dying easily in a milsim game that youre new to means everyone is hacking.
Thousands of players sounds good and all until you find out that you will be waiting like 10-20+ minutes any time you want to try and log into this game because the server is always full
in this game u have to pay for better class with better weapons or to play as a tanker or pilot
i was in BTZ I WAS THERE, and im back luv this game,20+tank zergs ,bomber formation flying 50+ppl jumping out of the sky AAA fire ,ship barrages oh and ARTY ...... sigh ive said enough
always pay service to the OGs
Bragging about the massively multiplayer, the netcode looks worse than my old arma 2 server running on a netbook trying to host 10 players
Old 2002 player. Cant wait for what's next!!
Aye bluedrake your the only person that thinks about us the gamer's
foxhole but 1st person, kinda?
kinda
People saying the graphics will kill an old game with an entrenched playerbase WHILE a game like Battlebit is killing it
You forgot about foxhole
its a top down game...
Its also not a milsim mmo, Foxhole is a perpetual warfare game.
do i have permission to smash a plane into a tank at full speed like a before the enemy even notices me?
uh no, cuz you'd be wasting supply also i don't think you're able to kamikaze anymore
@@KaiserRisOfficial i take that as a yes
well, you used to be able to take out a tank that way but i think its been removed since then
Yeah me and the Bois took Gorisboek last night from the frenchies
Im sorry but 1000 people are not going to play this game😂to achieve it's only appeal
cannot wait to get stuck into this. i put it on the other day but tbh didn't get beyond the menus and couldnt figure out for the life of me how to actually get into the game. very interested to learn more tho!
Which side. Axis or Allies?
@@apropercuppa8612 I'll go Axis since i assume like in the game Foxhole, most people choose Allies to live out their Band of Brothers dreams.
@@HannaManful Dunno. I see lots of players on both sides. Don't be afraid to ask plenty of questions using the Help Chat (f6)
I'll be honest I never played it until steam release. The U.I is dated and confusing, and the graphics are not great at all, gameplay is very clunky.
But hopefully with the engine update it'll be easier for the masses!
its probably gonna kill my computer with lag xd
Lol, our current game runs on potato PCs. The only challenge has been low-end laptops with integrated graphics and little RAM.
@@tex64 i just use my moms office pc its like 1k cash she says so will it run if it will i might try
ahh yes, the tf2 equivalent of ww2 military sim games, its in-ability to die
i love this game so much.
How are there NOT hackers though?
There are plenty of cheaters... don't worry you will find a few fast lol
@@donkeykong4816 That's what im saying, a game like this can't be hyped if there are even 1 cheater,
Planetside 2 has done this for many years, just is more of a Battlefield game
the game is so good and big that it has mixed ratings and subscriptions. in the video, instead of 1000 people, I saw 20
I put 10k hours in ww20nline and planetside 1 I'm college
Shitty WW2 fps with terrible balance lol. Who cares? Next
if you play this do not play the allies there way to fucking over powerd
WW2 online is gonna be swarmed with Foxhole players XD
I wonder how the networking code looks like or what it is based on.
Proprietary C++
Hamburger
lol you aren't logging 1000 players at a time.... maybe 20 years ago.
This game was pretty dead when I was in highschool and I graduated in 2013.
does this game ever have 1k player online on 1 server simultaneously?
It's all one global server.
sadly no, not for so many years now, barely 60 ppl per total at PEAK (weekends) and not always with a close to 20 euro sub price lol, increased from like 10 awhile ago. We'll see after today. It will get a wave of ppl, they'll play for awhile while the pop stays "higher" and have access to all stuff, then people will have to sub to continue earning points / use 98% of the loadouts, which means quitting en mass.
@@Sol4rFl4r3 basically less than a battle bits server
@@Lazy_berry less than the lowest selectable server in battle bits, 32vs32, u almost never get that at all, maybe now after release for awhile but in rest GG :D
Its not the only one, Planstside 2 is a modern version of this.
Middle ball reveal when
thanks Pvt Petey for patiently training me and teaching me the basics!
The devs making the ww2 online in UE5 right now ... This will be awesome
can UE5 and the actual hardware handle the 1000 players?
lmao very doubtful.
That would be awesome for mobile .
Um.. Aces High II is the other one that does this same thing.
i expected Enlisted to be this 😢
This is literally the 1st battlefield game but on steroids
the graphics looks okay for a 20 year old game. the town looks wierd, especially the streets they are so wide.
Maybe you never heard of Planetside 2, shame
If everybody who watches this starts to play, there will be even more soldiers... So...
6th of june today...
Foxhole ya dingus just isometric
great idea. but i wouldnt be able to play this game..looks horrendous.
It's really old so, it's expected, the record is not yet broken
Planetside 3 couldn’t come any sooner. Someone please hurry up.
Love you blue drake
aside from player models, it looks like a ww2 roblox game I used to play
why in the world are there comments from 3 days ago
This man doesn't understand the definition of Quality over Quantity.
So literally squad with more players with planes and massive ships?
Bro doesnt know about planetside 2 💀
i need a vr version of a game like this or like project reality bro, i neeeeeeed it
Never could find out how to join a squad effectively, id join a squad and then be forced to spawn like 20 miles away
Rookie problems, had the same problem mate, but i've figured it all out and also the community is nice and they welcome new players so don't mind asking them what you don't know or need to know! :D
Use the .j anygamernick to immediately get into the proper mission of your squad mates. It cuts right thru the clunky UI amd is massively helpful for new gamers.
I mean Planetside 2 is capable of this too just not too tactical I guess
