Despite playing countless games for around 30 years already, beginning with Atari ST, I still consider this title one of my favorites, just because of the 'atmosphere-setting' it offers. Good old-fashioned title. Your video is great, showing pretty much all the game has to offer. I like such old-school approach to gaming, just for honest fun, not checking the newest [ and often awful ] titles for internet clout points. I use this video as a sort of background asmr when I am working sometimes. : ]] I know, it may seem strange, I just have 'a thing' for this game's vibe since it first came across ps1. Good job, peace.
First lemme say: great fucking run, dude. Secondly, the music and art direction in this game is fucking superb. Almost all of the tracks in this surpass almost everything thats come out of MK since. I've always loved playing this game, but i completely understand why most dont. Its a bit misunderstood imo.
I had this on N64 and it was brutal back in the day. I still have the strategy guide lol. Props to you for doing this on very hard mode. These cutscenes are hilarious!
30:00 I think that's unfair to say he's afraid of water. It's perfectly natural that he would be. I mean Liu Kang killed him with just a bucket of it...
Great commentary, btw. I found myself reading more and more and agreeing with you or even having same memories from the home console mk’s. I think we might be the same age or around the same age caUse basically described all the experiences me and my childhood homies had
His name is Brian Glynn, who played Shao Kahn in MK2, MK3, UMK3, MKT. He also played Hulk Monk, Water God and the big man with an axe (Quan Chi's fortress).
Never played Mythologies, but you made this game look so easy and I love the subtitles you’ve made to add humor during this play through. It's doing its own thing, compared to the other MK games. That souvenir at the end part After beating Shinnok 😂😂😂
Your welcome and I can see why this game gave some whom played it lasting memories. Now this has given me a new perspective on Bi-Han and Sareena. Not to mention that Sareena is one of the select few character(s) whose story wasn't retconned. I hope Sareena someday returns as a playable character, one of her fatalities can be her transforming into her true demon form (something that was mentioned, but never elaborated upon).
i remember renting this game on N64 when i was 11 years old. It was very cool but seemed way too hard for me at that time Now that im watching this video in 2018.....it still looks very hard lol
I enjoyed it. I had a hard time getting past Fujin. Didn't know you go to the far right to hang on while he does his vortex of death move. Quite enjoyable to watch. You rock!!
Oh man I remember playing the N64 version of this game a lot. I used to be a huge SubZero fan and the local Nintendo Power magazines hyped the fuck out of this game. Didn't know you were around my age, nice to know you're not one of those really young guys killing it in spectacle fighter games.
Have to say I just got this game again after finally in love with my ps 1 lol been a min since I played this back in my 90s put hard game but love the breaking my head on it lol...
this was my very first video game ever! for the n64 omfg the memories!! it took me 3-4 years to beat this crazy ass game. no internet no cheats no nothin. the 90’s babies know what i’m talking about lol just straight grind! imagine this being your first game 😂🤣 my childhood was changed forever
You should get the cheats trainer for this game and do another playthrough with things like all moves unlocked from the start and infinite slide, etc. You can play it on pc with an emulator or burned on cd with a modded ps1.
this game brings back alot of memories, it can be a very challenging game for first timers, but learning the controls and mechanics is the key in order to get used to it, the fire stage by far was the easiest one compared to the frustrations the other stages bring, most people dislike this game but i dont think of it as a failed MK game, it just changes the whole MK platform through brand new ideas.
Wow, that was an awesome playthrough! You played it on the max difficulty, too. Kudos man! Even though you edited it all together, still, that was very ambitious of you to run through the game on "Very Hard". I'm using your video as sort of a guide, I hope that you don't mind. :) Oh, and I loved the various glitches and boss manipulations that you tacked on at the end, awesome! Thanks again for posting this. - Derek
I used to love and hate this game as a kid I mean you can play as sub zero and have many different powers.....in a side scroller ultra difficult bulshit unforgiven game Fuck this game i love it
So many memories. Beat the hell outta both versions of this game. kicked my ass as a kid, so much trial and error. seemed so hard when i was a kid. but it couldn't be anymore easy once you master the controls and stages. The N64 version always to me seemed tad bit harder than the PS version.
Actually, that one "useless" item you're talking about is not added to Sub-Zero's list; instead, when you use his ice powers or the Super Slide, the item refills your meter faster so you can use his attacks or the Super Slide again. 35:01 What?!? HOW?!? How did that monk go through the door and still attack Sub-Zero?!? I have NEVER seen that before!! Although you used all three keys in the Bridge of Immortality to open the door to Shinnok's Fortress, you missed three hidden Urns. You have to do some backtracking to collect them; I made a video of that myself. I actually performed that trick in the Elements of Earth myself. What I did instead after activating the Checkpoint Area above was that I killed myself on the other side where the three Herbs and Extra Life were. I made a video of that, too. I've done that death glitch in the Elements of Earth. (from 1:32:12 to 1:32:26) To be fair, I haven't really seen most of the glitches and fails you have shown. I've played and recorded both versions of the game, and they're up on my channel. I originally owned the Nintendo 64 version as a kid while the PlayStation version I've played on an emulator.
After beating the game, I just now realized it's not Sub zero that is the wuss but instead it is the real-life player controlling Sub Zero, your free will is the ultimate decision.
lol it is definately possible to beat it without looking things up. when I did, there was no internet and I didnt even know english to understand the game lol
01:31:36 hahahaaah oh man,i laughted so hard at this.Looks like sun zero is undecided,he doesnt know if fall or not xDDDDDDD.I really watched the whole video with your notes xPPPP.Gonna download it too.Wanna talk about something sometime? xD
Oh, and just for curiosity: the guy who plays this Sub-Zero is not the Shao Kahn actor. His name is John Turk, and he is also the Unmasked Sub Zero from MK3.
Aww i remember this 1 (( Was very hard to turn character left/right in battle so i end to play in stages with a lot of Baraka appear in start of level. Not bad game but stupid control (
Finally someone who loves this game just like me, or even more I think...
Good game shame about the controls. Nice little side story that adds to the MK lore.
Leandro Rosa I don't care what people say about MK mythologies either is Un Classic
Hey, I'm also in the club! I love this game too!
I loved it from the start.
@@josephine.1226 it was one of my first games for the N64.

Thank you for watching! Glad you're enjoying it in any way possible :)
I agree with you about the atmosphere. It's this game's strongest point.
First lemme say: great fucking run, dude. Secondly, the music and art direction in this game is fucking superb. Almost all of the tracks in this surpass almost everything thats come out of MK since. I've always loved playing this game, but i completely understand why most dont. Its a bit misunderstood imo.
i normally hate commentary but this is so charming
Love the subtitles man. Your speed run brings me back to my childhood. Great work bud

Thank you for tonight’s entertainment. I never finished this game looking back In hindsight, cool to see the ending and the bleepers

Saw this years ago and always come back to remind myself how godlike this run is.

Thanks for watching!
My BEST FAVOURITE ONE 💕
GEEZ the feel of this game is so classic holy shit I love it
I love this game ☺️👍🏾
To be fair, cutscenes in video games weren't that high end yet. MK4 came out after this and its ending cutscenes make this look oscar worthy.
Wow, that was an awesome playthrough! You played it on the max difficulty, too. Kudos man! Even though you edited it all together, still, that was very ambitious of you to run through the game on "Very Hard".

Oh, and just for curiosity: the guy who plays this Sub-Zero is not the Shao Kahn actor. His name is John Turk, and he is also the Unmasked Sub Zero from MK3.

Yes! As kids, we struggled with these types of games! No internet, no information! But to me, it was the best generation X)
Hey Gladiator, love the vid with the comments. Now tell us, where are you from? Wich country? Hahaha
Agreed, love this game!
