I wish the clock and that empty space would not occupy all the notification area and I could have more toggles. (@ 6:00 minutes) I also use the SIM picker and with all that I only have 2 rows of buttons. I know GoodLock may help but it's just installs plugin over plugin and is annoyingly not worth it.

If you like gesture navigations but want to take them a step further, I'd recommend trying Samsung's own One Hand Operation+ app. Instead of just a swipe from the side being a back button, you get to set up to 12 different actions depending on which direction you swipe (up, across or down), whether you swipe fast or press+hold, and which side you swipe from. Being able to map back, home and recents just to side gestures, with room for even more actions on top of that, means I've been able to hide the navigation bar completely and it's such a clean look as a result.

For split screen view, there is also an option to override the enforcement of full screen that some applications have. This is awesome, as many applications do not have any particular reason behind this limitation.

That modes and routines section is basically the same idea with Nokia's profiles section which was a standard feature 25 years ago. We were able to preset a few profiles and then select one of them to easily change current settings.

Kudos to all the private app developers that developed all of these features that were only available when you could custom flash your old android phones to a new enhanced beta OS. Those people in the private community made all these features available to these newer android OS and UIs. Yup...those hackers that the big corporations despise that make their paid employees look like dummies. Many of these features were first available if you had the gumption to flash your phone and risk turning it into a brick. Thanks to those people, these things are now common on the new Android OS.

Regarding security settings and the factory reset after 20 attempts; I now turn this off if using fingerprints. I had no idea about this setting a few years back, turns out my phone was trying to unlock while in my pocket walking. Got to the office and my phone was wiped, including the micro SD card!! I had no clue what happened. Do not recommend this setting. There are ways to virtually wipe your phone if ever stolen.

Can't see any settings for this swipe interaction. I have two other Galaxy phones where this is smooth and painless, but on S23 something weird is happening.

Dion: A lot of good info. You are well versed; however you made the same mistake many techies do, you guys talk way too fast! Despite pausing and rewinding; I was not able to get much of the info or even understand it. You have to understand many people in your age bracket know most, if not, all this info. There’s a large group of us (Baby Boomers) who were weaned on rotary phone. I now have a Galaxy S23+, after turning in my Galaxy 7 edge. You need to determine if you are trying to educate or impress. Either one is OK. I’m very impressed. It’s good to know there are people like you, well versed, to insure there’s going to be a future (hopefully a safe one) for all of us. Thank you.

HI Ed, first of all thank you of writing to me and give me your straightforward feedback. in the second place I am not in the business of impressing, as you indirectly imply. I am building my business and making guides is part of this. I indeed love sharing my knowledge as we all have our strengths and weaknesses in life and yes, I do know a thing or two about these topics. Concerning presentation, be assured that this a constant point of attention from my side. Because of earlier comments I already slowed down considerably, but there is a limit to it, as it should be comfortable for me as well. Many viewers (is my impression) appreciate my present speed of talking, but some, like you, not. A very practical solution is to go to settings (below the video, the “wheel”, tick presentation speech and put it on 0.75. I sound a bit robotic then, but it is slower indeed. And thanks again, best Dion

The S23 has really changed the game when it comes to compact flagship android smartphones. Kudos to Samsung.

Can you select for which output should be Dolby Atmos turned on? On my current phone I had to keep it off, because on one hand it improves speaker sound, but on the other I don't want it to mess with my headphones.

You can only do it with apps, so maybe set like Spotify or music app not do it and the rest of the phone will do it

Torn between s23 and the plus! Coming from an s10+ my 1st instinct was that im wanting a smaller phone. But im worried i will miss the faster charging, battery life and larger screen of the s23+!
