I'm a Tanzanian and everything that you said in your first video (things you don't vibe with) are absolutely true......shortage of electricity,corruption,intorelence/close minded altitude, bad public sanitation are as you described them but we have come a long way,it's depressing but things are a bit getting better and videos like yours will keep awaken us/my people to do more,so don't beat up yourself, what you did needed to be said...

I know you like it here, its just that you have the same narrow mind but in different way.. the american narrow mind .. i have been to usa where they dont have internet etc
Sorry i could not finish it. I like you but I do not think that you have significant education or exposure on cultures. American or otherwise.
I think you know your life was not perfect where you came from and you ran.
Offcourse we here know that us education is very shallow

@Selassie999 😃😃😃 human culture.. we are not satisfied with what we have. We think it will be easier to deal with life if we are given what others are given. We can easily solve other peoples problems but not ours! A few people I hope are content. But for me, i am not and 😃 and i think other people have a bit easier lives.

Bless you for your honest comment/reply to this sister's video. I live in Las Vegas and you should see/smell the filth in the streets here! There are homeless people defecating and urinating in the streets! Public restrooms here can be filthy as well. Urine and menstrual blood on toilet seats and floors at a call center and even some restaurants and casinos. There are things happening here in Amerikkka that people don't want to admit but I am seeing with my own eyes.

I am from Rwanda and I think everything she said was absolutely correct especially losing power every now and then, slow customer care and corruption. We don't have websites where you can go and voice your opinion on customer care like in west or USA, we don't have where you can put your review which prevent us from improving in those three areas I mentioned above. She didn't come off as mocking us. It was absolutely a great video. What I would like to advise our brothers and sisters from USA and Europe, is to educate fellow brothers and sisters who are in Africa and also accept to be educated. If there are things you had back in US and you don't see them in African nations, try to make a business of those things and highlights them so that in years to come, we will be able to adjust easily from one part of the world to another

Gosh you are so smart!I love this response. My friend just moved to Rwanda with her family a few weeks ago. She loves it!As a matter of fact, my friends that I met while I was living in Thailand said that Rwanda was their favorite country. (I was surprised. Because at the time, I didn't know much about Rwanda other than the genocide) My friend said how clean it is and despite the previous history, everyone is trying to move on and become friends. I love this progress and plan to visit very soon.

Personally, I don't think your views are biased against TZ, you are just presenting them from an American perspective.

Love the art and new furniture traveling sista! Thank you for the real stand point.. I think sometimes we diasporian Americans get so caught up in a romanticized image or idea of Africa, that when we actually discover or explore it for ourselves or if some tells us what the reality is on ground we can't even handle it. I watched the first episode. Some of the stuff that you complained about most locals complain about too. I tried to guess them all before you said them. The only one that I didn't get was "government" so it's nothing new. Those issues snowball and result in abled and educated Africans migrating to other countries. I'm Kenyan, non-religious etc etc... I would not be able to maintain my sanity out there. Try to link up with Tanzanians who've lived outside the country, they'll definitely understand where you are coming from.

Thank you for your realness! Seems like a woke sista to me! Stay woke! Every place has its cons and pros. When I first moved to the States, I almost immediately wanted to return home. I missed the community lifestyle where people greeted and cared about each other, I missed the fact that i didn't have 500 varieties of shampoos to choose from and so on. So don't feel bad. I am a traveling sista like you and I have made it my priority to explore Africa just as I am extensively exploring outside of Africa and Tanzania is on my bucket list as I am from west Africa. Best wishes.

I completely understand what you're saying about the things you don't like about Tanzania. I lived in Togo for a few years and had similar complaints. Doesn't mean you don't like the country or the people -- it's just a different way of life than what you are used to. And people should know that everything isn't unicorns and rainbows, and neither is it in the United States. Have you done a video on what you do for work? I'm a freelance writer and have my entire business online. While I would love to visit many places in Africa and stay for at least a month, it would mean having to plan to get little to no work done due to the probability that the internet and electricity won't work as much I would need it to. And of course, that would need to be planned for.

    • @dijonay971

I went to Senegal last year and was absolutely amazed at how fast the internet was there. It was just as good as it is in Australia, where I currently live. I bought a sim card for my iPhone and got 30GB of data added onto it for about $30 (Australian dollars), it was even connected to the 4G network. It lasted me the whole 2 months I was there and I used it heavily! I was on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and RUclips all the time. When we went to visit the south of Senegal it did cut out at times, but that's due to it being more rural down there and I was with one of the smaller phone companies called TIGO. The phone company ORANGE (which is a little more expensive) has a much wider reach, so I'm sure it would be fine in the south of Senegal.

What u said on your last video was all correct. In Africa we still have basic things problem like power, the internet etc but hey we are working on it, we are a young n developing continent, we are getting there soon.
Wen i left my country to Japan for work right after my college, it was amazing how developed it was. While there i discovered for the first time that i was "black" i was different from the locals, there culture etc,
I went back to my country after 4yrs it was a short vacation, while here i got amused how my country had developed in such alittle i was away. The power problem had reduced up to 80% in my town for the time i spent "2month" Power was never off, internet was way cheaper n reliable than how i left it. Basically things are changing in Africa.
We are learning how to address own problems by our selves. About customers service, we are developing too because unlike Tanzania, Most Ugandan youth are now educated, speak good english and ready to go. Guys like she said Africa isnt perfect and as un African who's grown there, i assure you it wont be easy at first especially coming from the most developed country in the world. But all if the sudden u get used to it, settle in enjoy the Africa in u as well as playing your role in the Afican society, with your knowledge and exposure of first world your efforts can go beyond expected in transformation of Africa. Its our job as Africans lets not be discouraged, we need to own mother land n play our parts in making it wakanda land. ✌

Always remember Sistah: amerikkka is a matrix. Its a cultivated environment that you 'pay at the door' and you try to enjoy the show once you're inside. The 'real places' in amerikkka are not much different from the real places anywhere. Except that 'real Chinese' prefer China. 'Real Indians' prefer India, and 'real Africans' should prefer Africa. The trouble is we are not real amerikkkans. And when shit gets real in amerikkka: we could become 'homeless' real quick. I'd rather be in Africa anyday! Loving your smile as always Sistah. Peace.

Except that some of those “real” people come to the U.S. to get away from instability and corruption. Some from poverty or war. Many appreciate what the U.S. has to offer them if they put in the effort. I thought about seeing my mother’s home country. When I asked her if she wanted to visit there, her answer was, “ Why do I want to go back there?” It took her a ten year wait to legally immigrate. I suppose she didn’t want to relive the trauma of poverty and famine. The more I learn about “the motherland,” the more I don’t want to go there, unless just to visit tourist areas for a short while. It’s unsafe on so many levels - food, air, government - just daily living is a gamble in some places. I feel so lucky to be born in the U.S. The quality of life is so much better.

Unfortunately by the time Blacks decide to ''visit'' Africa to see if the like it, they will have no land to buy because multinationals world over will have finished buying all of it. So Blacks would be squatters in Africa and probably expelled as illegal immigrants. After all, you can't invade private land, specially one that belongs to a nation or a company. Their private security don't fool around!

I'm Tanzanian living abroad. I totally understand what you said in your last video. It's true that certain situations are problematic on the continent. I admire your honesty and courage. Hopefully we can have more of our African American brothers and sisters visiting and settling in the motherland.

I'm Congolese but as soon as you talked about the close-mindedness about religion/different lifestyle and bribery bells rang in my had because it is the EXACT same thing, when I was back there (DRC) a couple of years ago my cousin and I joked about a Congolese atheist being rarer than a unicorn. The superstition thing is also a HUGE problem, the DRC (especially Kinshasa, the biggest city) has a major problem with child homelessness because of innocent children being accused of witchcraft, it is absolutely disheartening. I feel like Congolese people (I will not speak for other countries) do not like to hear any criticism because they already feel like they've lost to slavery, colonialism so they hold onto whatever it is they can control even if it's not theirs originally (Christianity/Islam) and it's keeping them from progress. Thank you for being honest, at least you're not leading people astray, imagine an LGBT black American only hearing peaches and creams about Tanzania and deciding to move there...

Please sis, we should not refer to African countries as "developing countries" and countries in the Western World as "developed countries". Western countries are not examples to follow because the Western culture is destroying people and the planet. I appreciate your honesty and I hope to visit Tanzania very soon. 💕

It is good you are making the clarification, cause honest truth, I thought you were getting homesick and wasn't feeling it anymore down there. But I see that it is not the case and that you were only showing the other side of the coin. You know your experience is the same for some of us conscious Africans who live in the US, mostly in black neighborhoods here. Some of the behavior of our African American brothers and sisters here can make it a little rough to live here. Mostly the violence, the shootings, the disrespect from the youngins. But I still love my people and I rather be among my black people than live in white neighboorhood. That is why I moved from Oklahoma to Washington Dc 25 years ago and have been here since. Unfortunately the demographic is changing and it is becoming less and less chocolate city. But it id good that we get to know each other because we are one big family and Africa is the homeland of all black people worldwide. So thank you sister for making it clear.

+Leo Gnawa absolutely. I wanted to make it clear. And thank you for your message, it made me realize that I could've given the wrong impression to some of the viewers. And yes I know how much of a struggle it can be in predominantly black neighborhoods, I grew up in a few of them. But we just have to realize that we all are one.

+Tyrone Simpson I primarily live in Arusha but I bounce between there and Dar Es Salaam. I didn't give thought to the east coast either, but TZ has the Serengeti, Mt Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, and the cradle of mankind... the place where "Lucy's" bones were found - the oldest ones in human history. So do some exploring! 😊

Do you know why people take a bribe? Few people in Tanzania can live on their monthly wages. Conditions forced them to take bribes. This is across Africa. Many of them do not like doing it but have not a choice.

There's no need to be apologetic; you come across as being very sincere. Most of the things you've pointed out sound as if they could be remedied easily, e.g. dirty toilets in hospitals --- easy, they should employ cleaners! Too many African- Americans glorify Africa, even the nasty aspects. Keep it up, you are doing fine!

I compare everything to the US because that’s where most of the viewers are from. That’s where most of the viewers could relate to.
