British carriers posted to the Pacific in 1944 onwards, would pass through Cape Town to and from the Pacific. By the end of the war Britain had a large number of carriers, both fleet and escorts., in the Pacific.

Nigeria is the name of a British cruiser. Their whaleboat (launch) picked up the pilot from the water. This is Royal Navy action near Ceylon (Sri Lanka).
