    After playing Rebirth, I get the context of this change. It means something.

    • @The3rownie

      It means a lot. In CC she's always been able to see the tear in the sky or it's implied because she tells Zack the sky is scary... for some reason Cloud can see it now too and she hates it and that's why she tells him not to look up. It's just the others can't.

    Dude this line is so much more eerie and shivering. Steel sky is a great line but the new one just works so better with what we now know after Rebirth. Now it gets me curious how new fans getting into the remake series will react to this since a lot of us had the previous line. Cause the entire time i would've been "Wtf does it meeeeean!?"

    I get the change but that was one of my favorite lines. Aerith's happiest memories were under the steel sky. Her mother, being raised by Elmyra, Zack, and everything else. Now she knows that she's on the way to her death but presses on. She laments that she'll never be under the steel sky again. And it still works to her seeing the rift in the sky.

    According to the Japanese translation it fits it better, but I agree the I miss it the steel sky ending is better especially when right after you hear “I would be lost drifting aloneeeeee”

    "I miss it, the steel sky." sounds much much better lol. I bet Square Enix is just changing up the story in the middle of productions to make it fit the next part but ends up just making everything confusing.

      The strange thing is when she said she missed the steel sky, most people understood what she meant. We know she doesn't like the sky. There was no reason to change this.

      I think it's because she sees the same break in the sky as Zack does, and later Cloud too

      Square didn't change anything in production. The original Japanese line didn't get changed, only the English one. Because the original English line ended up being an incorrect translation after Rebirth came out and they needed to correct it.

  • @amvseeker7206

    It's not different but just more accurate to the japanese line right? I think in japanese its "I hate the sky"

    • @FunkyGhost37
      @FunkyGhost37 4 месяца назад

      Yes, but now it seems that line(in the origanal JP translation) was already hinting at stuff revealed in Rebirth. So the line change completely removed that hint, until they brought it back.

    That was a silly change. The steel sky line was perfectly fine. Once a piece of content like that is out in the world I wish creators wouldn't change it.

    so the german ending isn't affected? was this an another miss translation like FFX Ending who Yuna says "I love you" instead of "thanks"?
    cuz i rewatched my ff7 remake ending from 2020 and the replayed one from this year i still get the "this sky...i don't like it" thing but in german she says "The sky... scares me".

    I don't get why they change the line initially, it's completely different meaning from the original and not match with her dislike of sky in Crisis Core.

    • @danielle810
      @danielle810 5 месяцев назад +1

      @MinhLe19303 probably because the translation team didn't know that this was crucial for the story. A lot of people who work on it don't get the intel of the entire story. There are more (minor) errors in the translation, but this one was crucial. Same as Aeris vs Aerith. Also a translation error, which was fixed later on

    • @MinhLe19303
      @MinhLe19303 5 месяцев назад

      @@danielle810 I could understand Aeris's mistake because they don't know her official name in latin letter, so they have to translate her Japanese to latin letter in their own interpretation. But this one I'm not convinced, as they couldn't make mistakes that easy because of different meaning and Crisis Core was able to translate her dislike of sky so I don't see why this one is wrong. Even if they didn't know the whole story and the important of sky scene as a whole, the surface meaning is there for them to translate.

      Both lines mean the same thing, just in different ways. I'm largely a fan of localized lines like "I miss it, the steel sky." Because it sounds more poetic in English. It does mean that Aerith doesn't like this exposed sky.
      However, I am also a fan of the Japanese devs, and if they determined that changing this line to a more literal translation was so important, it means that it has some connection to Rebirth and part 3. So I am good with this change because I am sure it was done for a good reason.

      The new change is a direct translation of the orginal Japanese script that localizers made flowery, but at the end rebirth its pretty apparent that Aerith was seeing something MUCH earlier then everyone else was (by the end of rebirth only cloud sees it but dismisses it as an illusion sephiroth made)
