love these guys screaming for cheap alternatives. just buy what you can afford and don’t preach about it
Spirit is more in competition with the Mark line than the Big Pilots. Spirit and Mark are pretty much ‘pilot style’ or ‘aviation themed’ but more accurately they’re closer to the field watch category than a classic flieger. (Also that Hamilton isn’t a pilot watch 😂)
I'm with Andrew on this one. There's a plethora of great Flieger watches out there if you just want something that just looks or feels like a Big Pilot, but if you want a true alternative that fits the "iconic pilot's watch" brief that's different enough that you shouldn't just get a Big Pilot, the Breitling Navitimer is perfect, as it's probably the second most iconic Pilots watch of all time (behind the IWC BP, obviously).
Also, you really don't have a leg to stand on George, because at least Andrew actually picked a pilot's watch, not a field watch. Hamilton even has an entire pilot's watch line with the Khaki Aviation for goodness sake!

U cant substitute that iwc. That iwc is why i bought an iwc and its that watch that i got.
Hamilton khaki isn’t a pilots watch, it’s not easily visible, if George wants a 24hr marker a B-dial flieger would do the trick.
I’d go for an Archimede 42H as cheaper alternative to the 43 big pilot. Sterile dial, blued hands, onion crown and comes with the most beautiful set of blued steel sword hands. Lume is epic and the case can be specified in steel bronze or titanium
The fact that Hamilton also makes some great pilots watches in the Khaki Aviation line makes that fact even worse for me.
My Big Pilot alternative is the Alpina Startimer Pilot watch, keep the good work guys!

I would have gone with the Longines Spirit Zulu time or the Longines Sprit for smaller wrists...
