I mean, most issues you brought up with the story came from KH2FM. Time travel wasn't *explicitly* mentioned, but even if we ignore 2's vague setups for that aspect specifically, Birth By Sleep 100% steered the story that direction (Secret Episode) Dream Drop Distance's only crime was being the game that had to *explain* it. Also all the text summaries was totally just because it was the first Nintendo KH where the overall story actually mattered (You could play Re:Coded and Days without knowing the other games just fine since Roxas was a new character and Coded was a retelling of KH1 anyway with any references to other games being explained in game) rather than the story being too complicated. Union X is absolutely valid though. Holy shit that game is a mess. Story was amazing, but locking it behind a monile gacha game that *you can't even play anymore?* Disaster

I just feel like BBS left a lot more questions than answers, then made problems and had every game after make solutions (also i am a lil biased cuz one time i accidentally deleted my ventus 100% file and had to do it all again) loll The fact that THEY had to explain it shows a big problem with DDD and KH's story in general. I believe that every game in any series should be newcomer friendly (to an extent), especially for a series that originally spanned multiple consoles. I love the fact that the games before DDD are structured in a way that you can KINDA still enjoy it without explaining everything, but the fact that DDD is not one of those games is the biggest crime of DDD imo. Also if the developers say you can start anywhere but the community says "NO DONT DO THAT!" then that also shows a problem with the story Btw i appreciate you for watching the video :)))
@@rikuredfalco I can understand that viewpoint but to me: It's a story. You wouldn't start reading a book in the middle, you shouldn't start KH in the middle either. In fact, i think being beginner friendly is KH3's single biggest problem. Every issue roots from that decision imo. I can definitely understand the complaint about the games spanning multiple systems but for nearly a decade, every game except for DDD has been available on a single system (and now you can play every game on pretty much every system. Mobile games excluded but that's a separate issue tbh), so you really have no reason to start with BBS for example. 1 is so accessible now. Also, i did fw the references :)
@@NamekianG OOOOOHH you got a point actually i do really agree with you on that. but i think when it comes to KH its like multiple smaller stories in one big story; like BBS is the story of the Wayfinder Trio, KH1 is the story of the Destiny Island Trio and then so on and so forth. in a way, each game has its own story to me; and if were keeping with this book analogy, i feel like id be better if i can just enjoy one book and reccomend one book without having to read all the other ones, yknow? i mean ME PERSONALLY i wouldnt start at the middle book and yeah it is nice now that i can buy the whole book series in the same library now, but its still a chore to read and recommend all of them. Oh and yeah your sooo right on KH3 thats what hurts the fun for the game for me; however KH3 is an enigma because the gameplay is so newcomer friendly but everything else is so complicated. i actually have no idea, but i think its because they're already working on kh4, and id wouldnt make sense to finish a manga of a 5 year game when the next game is already about to come out. maybe theyll finish it when kh4 comes out, but idk
