      You know, those rocks were so much better and more exciting than we perhaps made them sound. So unusual, especially for this part of the country and lots of fun to explore

    I'm with Stephanie on Scotney Castle & the rest of the place, it felt homely to me too.
    I love your videos, due to hubby's health problems we rarely get out to visit anywhere like we used to & you take me with you wherever you go.
    Glad you have work in August, money in the coffers for next winter. You could get some material to reline the curtains, hope you sorted the lighting you mentioned a while ago was much in need of upgrading, some simple home comforts make all the difference.

      It was wonderful at Scotney and for Stephen to rave about it says it all really! I'm sorry you can't get out so much anymore...but if we can show you some different places that's something, and we're happy to oblige and have you with us 🥰 if you've got any requests for UK places you'd like us to visit we might be able to go there in future videos ❤️
      Yes we could fix or replace the curtains, trouble is we are terrible procrastinators! The lights luckily were fixed but yes they are quite out of date even now. Thank you for watching as always 🙏❤️

      Thank you that's really nice of you to say 😊 Not sure I've been called a silver fox before, but I shall take it and run with it 🤣❤️ That's an interesting point, perhaps next time we stay somewhere particularly creepy or "dodgy" we'll incorporate it into the video 👍

    Scotney castle looks lovely, Alison said she would happily live in the ruins... Or the boat house. But she would want the wallpaper from the main house.
    £4.50 for water that like you rightly say come free out of the ground seems completely alien to us, but if it cures moist brain then we'll have 2, we think we may have come down with an acute case of that, or at least that may explain a few things.
    Lastly when Steve with a ph said, like, subscribe and all that SH...... enanigans... We did wonder how that sentence was going to end 😂.
    As always much love Darren & Alison 🤟💚

    • @comealongdear
      @comealongdear  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks guys, Scotney was exceptional- so much to see. Unfortunately we couldn't go in the old castle but you can on other days. You both would have loved it. I wondered if Spain had a National Trust equivalent, but then remembered attractions like that are so much cheaper there it wouldn't even be necessary for a membership really!
      The water just cracked us up for being SO expensive, whilst the actual stuff was coming out of the ground right next to it 🤣 Fascinated to know if people actually buy it...
      Much love both of you and belated Happy Anniversary 🥰

    How splendid, you can now get inside the house at Scotney Castle. When we were last there (about 30 years ago!) the house was closed to the public. Beautiful gardens though, rhododendrons and azaleas still in bloom in June. We have made plans to visit again this summer, so a welcome piece of information. I don't think we'll attempt visiting 4 NT properties in one day as we did last time ( Scotney Castle, Batemans, Sissinghurst and Bodiam Castle). We had more energy then but less time 😂.

    • @comealongdear
      @comealongdear  9 месяцев назад

      I think they opened the house relatively recently, 2007 I think - when Christopher, the last Hussey family member, died, his widow Betty lived there until her death and the house opened after that. They didn't have children, which is another reason the National Trust has access, I think.
      It is absolutely well worth returning - and sometimes you can go inside the old Scotney Castle too. And in the house, as we said, you get a real feel for the family as many of the rooms are styled up to the 1950s/60s when Christopher and Betty lived together there. We found that just as interesting as some of the much older looking rooms and items.
      The 4 you listed were the 4 we were weighing up as to where to go! They are so close together and all sound like they're worth it. However, we won't be attempting 2 in a day, nevermind 4 🤣 Thank you for watching ❤️

    Exactly, so much to see in UK and far less likely to get shot at, bitten or stung by dodgy creatures, some being highly dangerous.
    Having said that, we'd love to visit Furtwangen in Black Forest and also Paris

    • @comealongdear
      @comealongdear  9 месяцев назад +1

      We are hoping to visit the Black forest in June with any luck! The UK gets a lot of stick, and the weather isn't always fun, but yes there is much to see and so much beauty! I am always eternally grateful for the (relative) lack of creature-related nasties too 😆

    Yes I often walk alone although we do have a dog I’m surprised you don’t have a little dog as they are brilliant company especially in the partner wants to stay in the van and watch TV and what’s worse daytime TV we look forward to sometime catching up with you at Arondale as that is our favourite spot. Also the summer will be a long hot delicious experience this year. We hope thanks for your reply. It sounds a bit daft but it means a lot when people we enjoy watching reply to your silly messages not all of them do most just ignore what you said. So thanks again. Keep up the good work carry on van life

      @comealongdear  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks Paul, you're very welcome, we always try to respond if we can, if we don't it's only due to forgetfulness. When are you next at Arundel? I think a dog, especially with our jobs, might be tricky in our smaller van, but I know people manage it! Very much looking forward to summer too, sadly we are working all of August, but hey ho - gotta earn the cash! Hopefully July and September are just as good 🤞

    0:40 What _really_ got me clutching my pearls is that I thought you said "back to teabagging"! 😲😂
    Also, one wonders if it wasn't Queen Henrietta that had the problem. Maybe King Charles was firing blanks and the queen just found a special friend at Tunbridge Wells? Our whole royal bloodline is descended from a quicky in a Kent hostelry! Just sayin'. 🤷‍♂️🙃
    Oh, and 'The National Trust Front' sounds like a bunch of lairy, tweedie, middle-aged women shouting "England for the English!". 😂

    • @comealongdear
      @comealongdear  9 месяцев назад +1

      Spoiler alert, teabagging is for next week 🤣🤪
      I suspect similar of Queen Henrietta, perhaps magical water was code for magical, err...ingredients required for a baby, and Henrietta was having a laugh. And maybe that's why it's called ROYAL Tunbridge Wells and most of them knew about it 😲
      Oh god, the National Trust Front sounds all too real 🤣 I'm scared to google it because it probably exists. Incidentally, a walk around a National Trust property will often result in passing groups of said tweedie, lairy individuals who look ready to plot various evils that benefit the wealthy, so it's surely true.
      Oh god hang on, what are we supporting 😲 Perhaps we should bin off our membership (but let us see all the pretty houses first 😉)

    Steve became quite effusive in his description of that old pile of bricks. One for my 🪣 list then. 🥳. You have made up for lost time with this episode, informative and entertaining as well (per usual) Now I have to rewind it to find that friendly couple you mentioned. The camera you are using is fine but if you do want to upgrade I reckon the DJI pocket 3 is perfect. Gopros are wide angle and there are no straight lines. They are action cameras and we really dont see that much action from you two. 🫣 👍

    • @comealongdear
      @comealongdear  9 месяцев назад

      Thank you as always ❤️ We tried to cover a few different things in this, and there was me thinking it wouldn’t be long enough 🤦‍♂️ Yes, if Stephen even twitches a corner of his mouth in half attempted enthusiasm for a second, it means you must go there 😆 It was beautiful, and our videos didn't do it justice - we even missed out the wider parkland as it started hammering it down once I got back from the garden bit.
      Ooh thanks for the tip! I did think that about GoPros - they seem to always have a fish bowl lense type of look which I'm not sure you can alter? 🤷‍♂️ And of course you're right, you're not likely to see a "coming up" with us skiing down a near vertical mountainside any time soon 🤪 I will check out the one you suggested, appreciate it 👍
